  1. Has the GPS units in the C172 AND PA-28 changed since the latest update?

To me it seems that they did, and I was hoping to get the old ones back. Yes, I know I can change it in the PA-28, but I am unable to find the one that used to be there.

Wish I could remember the model that was being used, but it would have the distance to each waypoint on the screen (lower right corner) and the ETA would be in the upper right ((I may have that backwards, but you get the idea)), lol

Is there a way to change it out??

  2. The Marketplace selection on the main menu is 'greyed out' ie cannot be opened. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Could be Internet problems? Perhaps the game is having problems connecting to the MS servers? I've seen this in the past. I would also check your ingame settings to ensure that you are connected. I've had mine disconnected in the past (for no reason that I know of), but I quick checked confirmed that it was turned off, turned it back on

  3. As for (3) I never use the sim Pause, causes too much bother. If I need to stop for more than a few seconds I just hit ESC then Resume when I'm ready. Only thing that it maybe affects is the AI Traffic addons but as far as I can see they quickly adapt.

I do the same thing as well. Except for me, I never use ATC so pausing it does not affect me.

As for the other bugs in MSFS, every piece of software has them, and the more complex the software get's the buggier it will be :)

I just like the fact that I have found my house (the way it was in 2015 ((the year I sold my red truck which the sim still shows in the driveway, lol)). Bit out of date, but still nice in my eyes!!!

  4. What I find puzzling is that many simmers suffer from this settings changing problem but there is no consistency in what or how much.

Sometimes I get no changes; other times it can be a very subtle one that I fail to notice untiul it crops up "in flight".

Just a maybe thought: although MS suggests we empty the C/F before updates, it's not really necessary. I usually do (thank you MSFS Addons Linker!) but last update I didn't - and had a settings change. Hmm!

I'm on the fence about having an empty CF before an upgrade (or whatever it is called, lol). I usually do not know when they are going to occur, thus it starts and my CF is jammed pack with MODS.

Now, having said that, I also don't expect ALL of them to necessarily work after an update (or whatever it is called, lol). I have ALWAYS seen some changes lost in different files, like the modification which allows the NDB's and such to always be switched on. I had a text file which had those changes, course since I've reloaded Win 10, that file went bye bye, lol/

  5. Hi! Everybody out there in the flightsim community. I have upgraded my PC with Windows 10 Pro cleaned installed and I am having difficulty reinstalling the SIM. I installed the sim following instruction I found online but did not work according to the instruction which is, I think quite old because Windows' store have been modified some time ago you know. If anybody reinstalled the DVD version of the game or know the tricks, then please kindly share the method here for me. Thanks a lot.

There was a post on the forums about someone having to reinstall using the DVD's. Not sure of exactly what they did but, but if you go back about a week in the forum posts, you might find some help there.

    Don't give up on MSFS!!

  6. It's possible that scenery objects can "pop-in" to view when you cross the boundary of their visibility radius as set by the developer. Some objects become visible from one angle sooner than another, which is a mystery to me - scenery building isn't my thing :p

That does makes sense, however, in this case, I always fly the same exact route (since Aug of 21). Scenery building is not thing either :) I am wondering if certain parts of major cities get updated to more recent versions?? Possible I guess

  7. While taking one of my saved flights from EGLC to EGLL (London City airport to Heathrow), flying over a lot of the POI's on the way (yes, I like to fly low and slow, lol), I noticed a new building on the right side of the Thames, just before the O2 building.

I do not remember that building being there in previous flights (could be mistaken??). Also, I have noticed that the POI's change from time to time, more are being added it seems. This is not occurring right after an update, For example, the BT Tower POI I just noticed a couple of days ago.

Does the photogrammetry get updated automatically, or is this occurring randomly? Not a complaint, just curious :)

  8. My apologies if you took my "start over" as a recommendation to reinstall. That is the LAST thing I would tell anyone to do. I know how much of a pain in the (you get the idea) it is. Even with fast Internet, it still takes a while.

I was suggesting that if you were having difficulties, it seemed that you may have misconfigured something (happens to me a lot), was to reset the in sim settings back to default, and go from there.

  9. Hi Jesse,

We're all here to help a fellow enthusiast, so perhaps a home visit is not necesarry or even advisable.

    So what's the problem exactly?

    Something to keep in mind:

As you've probably discovered by now, this sim works completely differently to the previous sims. It's best to make peace with that fact and not assume anything will work the same or be in the same place. I made this analogy in a previous thread: This sim is as different from FSX/FS2004 as Windows 10 is from Vista, since they're from the same respective eras.

I agree with KiloWatt. I have gotten a LOT of good advice from him, Tim and others on this sim, and I try to help out where I can.

    So, ask away!

  10. Sticking to local flights in the 152 for now, looks good, its been 10 years but the muscle memory seems to be there (once I turned off the AI "assistance" (what's that about?) I can still land, take off and park.

Is the only way to shut down/start the engine the keys? (Shift CTRL E and CTRL E) I seem to recall that there was a clickable ignition switch in FSX. Maybe a different on other aircraft I guess?

What does the "drone camera" do? (Insert)

That's it for now, any assistance is welcome, its good to be back!

    Geoff

HI Geoff, while I cannot answer all your questions, I can say Welcome!

I can answer the drone camera question-it is just another camera that is outside the plane, and IMNSHO (in my not so humble opinion) is one of the best camera views around. I like to fly low and slow and spend 90% of my time OUTSIDE the AC as it is about 1,000 feet AGL. The drone camera allows me to fly all around the AC, even miles away (if I choose to) without affecting the AC at all.

Insert get's you outside the plane. Using the numeric keypad, the '5' key resets the view of the drone so you are viewing the back of the plane. It is a fast way to get back to the plane. The 'W' key moves the drone forward, 'S' is back, there is a left and right as well (I think??) When I am flying straight, I usually go in front of the plane and with my VR in place, it is nice!!!! You can also have a LOT of fun while you are sitting on the ground at an airport. I sometimes will land at a super busy airport and then fly around in the drone view just looking at the planes, watching them take off and land.

  11. My G2 fires up with the PC but not WMR by my design.... when in flight sim all I do is hit CTRL TAB and WMR fires up and I just have to put the headset on...... It's been that way since I got the G2 going on 2 years now..... So the VR is always running when the PC is running and never had any problems... If for whatever reason which is seldom I don't want the G2 running I just turn it off at the little power box with the blue light... so why are you pilots disconnecting and reconnecting the cables? I don't understand..... A little confession, with the ultrawide screen I seem to be more screen flying recently none the less the G2 is still running in the background.....

Its the power box that I am disconnecting. When I am not using the headset, I keep it turned off. For my rig, I have found it better to have it running BEFORE I start the sim. The few times I've started it AFTER the sim was loaded up, the sim would crash to the desktop.

From what I have read, we all have similar procedures for getting the G2 up and going.

  12. For the Reverb, my setup for a flight is as follows-

I plug in the electrical portion (small box with a plug for power, which has a white light, probably not the exact name, but you get the idea), I do this before loading up flightsim.

The VR headset software is loaded, Windows Mixed reality window pops open.

I then start up MSFS, load up a flight. When I am on the runway, I select VR mode on my flight stick (dedicated key). I then put on the headset and calibrate it (only way to describe it( using two keys which I have already set up, for me I use Ctrl and the left shift key)

I then take off, have a good time :), I use the flight stick until I am airborne, have my autopilot set (yes, this is how I fly, lol), then I usually go into rear camera view (End key), or use the drone view (Insert) key

After I land, I then exit the VR portion of the flight. May sound complicated, but it actually is not,

  13. Apparently this is a known bug, just saw the discussion on the forums.flightsim.com

I was flying my C172 Cessna and my Just Flight PA-28, I would put the throttle all the way, I would roll down the runway and it would then bring the throttle back down to idle, while now slowly going down the runway. The only way to take off was to manually hold the throttle with my mouse until I actually took.

It was suggested that I set my assistive takeoff to OFF (which I did). Tested it out and it works like it should.

  14. Hi All,

After updating to 40th Anniversary Edition yesterday I noticed that approach mode is non functional on the Mooney. I tried making an ILS approach but it wouldn't grab the localizer nor stay on the glidepath in approach mode on auto pilot which worked like a charm before the update. I just bought this plane from Marketplace and would like it to work. Does anyone have any idea where I should be looking to resolve this? Thanks

Not to take away from this forum, but have you also tried https://forums.flightsimulator.com/?
