  1. Its a ball spinning, we are in it with Bing Because of the popularity of flightsim and maybe the xbox version, Bing will have more reasons to update frequently and be a leader in this segment
  2. ok, but the case today is the versions only include specific addons, not core engine, so these addons if you still want them later on if you have the standard, you will be able to buy either from third parties (better versions) or from MS im sure they will be in a promo package later in time
  3. But arent the new build/versions updated automatically? mine did one yesterday, guess it was the 20H1
  4. I agree, DC3, DC6, Hawker Syddley, Convair, Viscount, Trident, Fokker, Bac111, Dc9, Dc10, Embraer the miltary is another niche, enjoyed by those who have been in the military, covered by DCS World in the meantime
  5. Im sure the main airplane developpers (Pmdg, Captain Sim and Aerosoft) will soon relaunch their models (a sales boost to them) and they will look even better in MSFS2020 B747-400, B777, B737NGX, B767, DC8, L1011, 737-200, 757, Airbus and also four classic models that have been forgotten for more than a decade (thou companies keep saying: "in development" Caravelle B747-200 B727 B707 the last two have CS versions for FSX but are more than a decade old and not usable in p3d
  6. Well then appologogies and I retreat what was said. Lets hope its just like the past sims
  7. You used the built-in ATC for flying a flight plan???????? Man you have a patience of steel. I cant stand fsx atc endless repetition of "Call-sign...radar contact, alt 29.92" "Call-sign...proceed to xxx as filed" They could have chosen some real aviation response to these most repeated phrases by atc, just changing the call-sign, alt setting to text-to-speech, but No!! they chose a phrasing that is never replicated in real life. Totally fake and unjustified Also if you use FSX ATC you will be overwhelmed by contacts in cruise flight in a way it doesnt allow you to do other relevant tasks. Even if you had a co-pilot, atc is constantly at you because the messages are triggered each time you enter a new air section. In real life atc is not bothering with stupid repetitions of "alt 29.92" twenty times per minute!
  8. I dont think MSFS is going to offer an open SDK..yet again. This Xbox and Win App stuff is devised to have an exclusive upgradeable stuff only by Microsoft. Third parties would have to go thru this system too. So for example PMDG releases a new plane, it goes to Xbox-Microsoft, you buy it, it updates the sim automatically. Its all an anti-piracy strategy. So dont expect files-gauges to be manipulative. They only have to lock the file "modified date" , so if you try to modify some file and the sim will crash/wont work. ("re-install the main sim from xbox" will be the message) Remember, this is an online-game linked to Bing (microsoft) permanently
  9. Tuesday we'll know, dont worry now must be "user navigation tips" enabled in settings. Im in Brazil and it too redirect my purchase to microsoft Brazil, which I quite liked because the price conversion was cheaper at the current exchange rate.
  10. i got my FSX copy in 2006, as soon as released, and ported all my Fs2004 planes to it without problems, just minor changes in the panel.cfg in some cases. Many people complained but it was usually people with no knowledge of how to handle folders manually or edit files. I was a developper of some freewares in fs9 but with the new xml coding stopped. Never went back to FS2004, and that has been since FS95, the first payable version. Surely fixes will be needed, but thats part of the fun, going thru them, searching for clues and in the meantime fly in areas or planes where fixes arent needed. Strange you need to stick to Win7 since its a free upgrade. I customize my Windows10 and dont let it think for itself in the same way as previous versions. And if a program is not 64bit, its old and i dont need it, with better alternatives
  11. As soon as the release date last month was announced, and following massive videos from youtubers showing its features, i posted thoughts about uninstalling the current flightsim (be it P3dv4, P3dv5, Xp11 or Fsx whichever you use). With all its paywares and enhancements through a decade. At first I decided not to uninstall so I could still fly until the release date. But that didn't happen. Every time I pressed the exe file to make a flight....the dream of a much better sim a few weeks away, naaa...closed the sim, Im not in the mood for flying with my mind set in the new one. All those settings, tweaks, control shortcuts...want to prepare my mind for a fresh start. I was happy, felt better, besides it freed nearly 300gb of space. Aug 18th will be the first day of a new flightsim era And enough of those teasers, reviews and videos showing MSFS2020 With 4 days to go, will soon be flying myself and taking videos that i will send to my non-flightsim relatives and friends, who despite the frenzy dont even know such a flightsim exists
  12. Yes, you are right Too bad We know this system is not good for serious simmers that find fun in customizing. Im sure if MS dont come clean with a PC version someone will make an alternative "org"
  13. as those who tried know the sim is already available for install (installer) and partially installs many files and directories. The bad news is that it installs in the WindowsApp directory, a system dir which normally users dont have access, and many wont kmow how to do it or wont bother since it can mess the sim structure, in a totally different way of previous sims, meaning that its a closed game like Flight where freewares or personal customizing wont be allowed or be easy. I had to take ownership of that windos system directory and the structure is not meant to be for folder manipulation I installed in the C:/ where windows is, thou plan to retry installing in a D:/ SSD hope its possible too
  14. indeed but you must buy/have them at hand, plugged them in AND use them, generally not what the majority will do, most teens play several games at a time and in their minds Flightsim is just another. If they start the sim with just their gamepad they will be disappointed. remember an Xbox console is not like a PC sitting in someone's room dedicated as a flightsim. Xbox is usually in the living room, below the TV, a place where all the brothers and sisters use sitting in the couch usually at quite a distance... with little cozy ambiance for the peripherals needed.
  15. Say you could enter a virtual street shop that has real items for sale only in France if you are in french soil, pay by credit card and have it shipped to your address, tax-free because technicaly you are abroad on a "virtual flight". Mind you, expect to show a scanned id of your passport to local "virtual customs" to get access to the virtual city :)
  16. the future is a virtual planet where even "Second Life" game can use, every single reality sim can have the exterior envelope of planet earth as the MSFS2020, but of course, for Second Life every interior house or street matters, people, while flightsim only want runways and airports
  17. I still doubt that the console version will allow for the simulation full features and realistic operation of some cockpits as intended by the developers to emulate real aviation. Without a keyboard and a joystick, very difficult. Most Xbox players have the gamepad-joy, which is odd to use as a plane controller, similar to using a mouse in the PC...limited, tiny control. An automated specific for Xbox to land, take-off, "go to cruise" kind of option may be available to allow play-ability.
  18. On to having a massive flood of first time posters with installation-hey-i-just-bought-it querries. google or reddit
  19. Heathrow is too busy, always a heavy burden on the sim 787 is a boring plane, flown by its main pfd computers i pass the premium
  20. 60 dollars is way to expensive, its the price of a good PMDG addon once they come up with the new version. Many people dont give much importance to big airports, if third parties are allowed maybe some freewares will show up. I bought the standard and everything else i will take freeware or buy specifically a much wanted plane. We already have the whole world to explore with the Bing imagery so its not justified to spend another 60 dollars (that is double the price of the sim) for additional airports
  21. new to flightsim? to real flight or new to computers? identifying dangerous cumulus-nimbus by radar or visual contact is a challenging and life saving task in real aviation. In flightsim, you ll have to learn to avoid scam popups first :)
  22. from Austria Meteoblue from Switzerland Asobo from France What strikes me from MSFS2020 is that its an international consortium by the best companies in their tech field. Not to mention orbx from australia or addon developpers from either UK russia etc. Be it computer graphics, climate or ai, ever since the 80s press and midia keeps saying that Europe is in decline with people in rich countries living out of incomes or retired. skiing in the alps.. And yet there are no american or chinese companies much notable in this venture. Interesting. Europe is not to be underestimated
