  1. glasses dont take off look at 3d glasses in movies It was about time everybody should be using them. Most tvs come 3d ready still, unless you are a 14 year old kid, (or about mentally) when you decide lets watch a Netflix movie, bring the popcorn... hey were are my 3d glasses"? nope you just sit and watch the movie you dont tell your whatsapp friends that they are losing by not using 3d glasses and how its the new future, an immersive experience and so on
  2. Whats the point of having 37,000 airports if you can only take off/land from 30 Also, I bought the standard edition. Should I expect that MS or third parties will be releasing paywares of additional airports? can i buy separately those in deluxe premium? It seems MS is preparing the field for a "if you want it?, pay for it" or stay with the standard factory setting. I dont think the sim will be friendly to freewares
  3. Yes, you are right, I`ll do just that, all Simobjects/Airplanes to sata hd Will wait until 18th and see which planes port easy Regarding scenery probably the new sim is the only way to go rgds k
  4. common sense tells me that you should use curved 2 monitors upfront, not necessarily too big, 27-32 inch is enough, plus 2 flat smaller monitors on the side. And once the monitors are in your posession you cut the cockpit frame around them
  5. Thanks Andy Would be nice if they could be used in P3D Tried installing the FLT WX and SPB in the Scenarios\Emergency folder with additional Flights\Other folder to emulate the fs2002 original but the WX files are uncompatible with p3d
  6. Isnt it strange that after pointing out Ghosttown made a profile just to push VR after he had another profile for the same "VRdude" and now another guy suddenly appears creating an account just to post on VR? I will say my last on this respecting the fact that VR is an amazing and interesting feature in gaming, suitable for many games of young people, but just doesnt fit the requirements for serious flying simulation. I will use Ghosttown own words: VR is for those who call each other "dude"
  7. one thing I hope gets fixed, not wanting to open a new thread to mention it i shall do it here: relative movement with altitude, that is AI traffic of cars. As you know as soon as a plane takes off from 1000 feet upwards we perceive cars moving slower and slower. A few hundred feet higher and the cars seem to be "frozen" as well as waves in the beach So its very annoying in the current sims that you see waves in the beach moving and cars at unrealistic speeds
  8. I do hope that, just like in real life, we will have programs authorized thru MS sdk to emulate in ipad things like flight plans, stars, approaches, garmin, etc. It could even be a segment to make money by Microsoft selling the apps, specially since for P3D there are so few, badly done and payware
  9. No, because c64, F95, F98, etc, were the best flightsim around at the time, we did complain about other arcade atari games that some clowns pretended it to compare it MS Flightsim. The problem with VR is that its one step behind the current technology. So if the current sim today gives a graphic satisfaction, you accept nothing less. When 4K is the standard, anything below is rejected, and so on. Its not a freeware, you are selling and pushing a very expensive device that hasnt got the graphic quality that would improve the experience of a monitor. Thats why so many reject it. Its interesting to try, thats all
  10. Its not up to Microsoft, it depends on hardware and VR technology is simply not there yet. VR is an "entertainment" device and that is how its thought by Oculus or any manufacturer. Its good for arcade and for a few minutes. Ever since 2005 when good VR glasses came out the advertisement talk about high resolutions, and when you complain they say the resolution was "per eye" and by adding the too you get to 1920 something. Today there are still no 1920x1080 per eye, there are models soon to be released. At the highest resolution the lagging is unbearable If you complain the manufacturers support tells you to lower the resolution. Then whats the point? Even when they come out its impossible to deal with fatigue I cant work on my computer monitor without using eye-saver, and when i Flysim i either choose short flights or long hauls where I can auto pilot on cruise and get away from the computer for a while. Nobody can hold a VR for an extended period of minutes (just doing nothing watching the view) without feeling claustrophobic or tired. And if you do need to act like operating an fmc, gps, or overhead tasks that time in most people doesnt exceed two or three minutes. You fail to see the difference between "entertainment" which is what VR is, and a simulation of a real work, job, which is all involved in flying an airplane. Many people have bought VRs in the last 20 years. They took it out of the box, tried it a few times, found the experience amazing, then put it away and not used it anymore. VR is always a> "it will be great in future where it will be just like reality" yes, its that kind of Blade Runner fantasy. The fact is we are still not there.
  11. Steve good luck in your Beta ride, remember you are doing it for all of us. Find as many bugs as you an find or improvement bits.
  12. Mr Ghosttown You made this profile just to post about VR Your previous profile "VRdude" the motif of your interest is stated in the nick I can only imagine you are involved as a vendor or developper of Oculus Rift. I would like to see more casual simmers posting about how amazing VR is and how they cant sim fly without them. user "g7rta" said he likes VR and used it in the past but "is no longer using it" ... so instead of door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesmen we need clients speaking for VR, spontaneously, consistent full-time users, from start engines, 2 hour flight and landing, not the people saying just that its an interesting experience
  13. exactly! VrDude or ghosttown, whoever you are, the reason i put thumbs down even if everything else is superb is "reading little digits" in gauges and fmc you see, flying IFR or a commercial plane means managing fmc ipads gauges little numbers in gauges etc. I saw some people in youtube with VR in Pmdg 737ngx and they were all with a quality you were unable to read anything. They "pretended" to be using the FMC but it was only a show off for the video, they couldnt read what they were touching, otherwise they would have made a video with quality showing you could Not to mention the times we need to use the keyboard and then the fatigue thing.
  14. I bet p3d 64bit aircraft will be able to port automatically to MSFS2020 of with minor folder/edit corrections
  15. Thank you guys Without your warnings I would have thought VR is a must. Now i see the reality and save me lot of bucks of impulsive consumption without the expected satisfaction. Glad Im reading this forum
  16. with a bit of editing knowledge, all your FS2002 planes will work in FS2004, so you could have all your planes in a better sim, and again with minor adjustments in panel.cfg or using the update files from the developper, all an work in fsx
  17. I use P3D v4.5 and find it better than xplane 11 based only on the cockpit layout. There is something on the graphics by xplane in cockpits that tend to "square" everything (buttons, switches, general view., all tend to a square than to smooth round borders) And then theres availability of addons. Plus take into account recent PMDG newsletter, they will discontinue Xplane development, having to choose to maintain only two platforms. They chose MSFS2020 and P3D seems Im not alone...
  18. Piet, a good idea, probably will do the same my hope is that some user finds a temporary workaround that would make some aircraft-panels compatible by porting them to MSFS2020, I will keep P3D with this hope
  19. Rebrecs, I havent read the other replies, so someone could give a better answer.. I think you are comparing apples with bananas, or two different sims in timeline FSX is from 2006 while Xplane 11 is from end 2016, more than 10 years! You should be comparing Xplane 11 with Prepar3d v5
  20. Absolutely someone here mentioned Air Safety and accident investigations. Another perfect example. You recreate a flight, to remember what happened and understand the accident and events. All about that. Went to Bali or Katmandou with your girlfriend last year and made an air tour... Suddenly you feel atracted to flightsim because of that flight Most people land at the flightsim with some memorable flight in memory
  21. Internet speed is not crucial, tell you why if my experience with tileproxy days are correct: The first time you fly a route your graphics will be bad due to slow internet speed, but slowly all the route tiles will be downloaded in your cache system and next time you fly that same route (provided there s a way to keep the cache files) the quality will be ok despite low internet, and once all the route is cached you can even fly offline Its a guessing but based on tile loading bing mAp experience
  22. You guys are talking about “rigs” and leaving out the 4K monitor altogether, i opened a new thread asking specifically about 4K because i suspect it should be a major issue in order to get the quality we dream in the youtube feature show offs
  23. Mine is a Samsung curve 27 inch resolution 1920x1080 Other game specs as per recomended. Will it be a must to upgrade to a 4k monitor? Are the graphics going tombe doubled in quality?
  24. I even dream of airports specific for each era, with tarmac stairs and people boarding on foot instead of jetways, ai traffic of those days. California Classics tried it but being a freeware planes looked sluggish
