No because it's considered an app.

Hi,
Just downloaded msfs 2020 from steam it loads up ok but when i start a flight it crashes back to the desktop any one else had this problem
Yes, same for me.

All you have is the installer program right now. Un install that program, re-download and try again. The game download is 91 GB and will take a few hours to download and install.
-
For 2D panels only. Try with a 3D panel.

I pre-ordered the Standard version. When it is released at midnight tonight will MS automatically email me a download link at midnight? If not how do I go about getting it? I also read that those who pre-ordered can download 180 mb of the sim ahead of time and then install the rest after it is officially released. Is that true? TIA.
When you purchased did you get the installer files on your computer? And there is a time line from MS for a staggered release so check on that also.

My system says that MSFS is installed, but when I try to launch, it says I'm too early. If I'm not mistaken, today is 8-17, so what's up with that?
You have the installer and some of the base files on your computer. Release has always been 8-18. That's what's up!

Undockable views for multiple monitors? Don't see anyone asking bout that! Total gamebreaker for me. I was really looking forward to owning it!
I bet there will be. I'll collect my winnings tomorrow afternoon.

1. Where ever you would like it installed.
2. No.
-
I dont think MSFS is going to offer an open SDK..yet again.
This Xbox and Win App stuff is devised to have an exclusive upgradeable stuff only by Microsoft. Third parties would have to go thru this system too. So for example PMDG releases a new plane, it goes to Xbox-Microsoft, you buy it, it updates the sim automatically.
Its all an anti-piracy strategy. So dont expect files-gauges to be manipulative.
They only have to lock the file "modified date" , so if you try to modify some file and the sim will crash/wont work. ("re-install the main sim from xbox" will be the message)
Remember, this is an online-game linked to Bing (microsoft) permanently
1. The SDK in its present form will be released on the 18th.
2. MS has publicly stated that both payware and freeware can be developed as always.
3. MSFS is not an online game linked to Bing permanently. You can run MSFS totally without the internet.

We've been watching videos fro 2 weeks now!
-
You will not have live ai traffic.
You will not have live weather.
You will have saved scenery or generic scenery.
You will not have multi-player.
-
1. You don't get the beta. If that was true, thousands would get the beta.
2. The pre-download is on the 17th just like all the other pre-orders.
3. There is no disk version except from Aerosoft for European customers. Your purchase will always be in your XBox Gamepass account for future downloads.
-
Good stuff, my man! I'm hoping for aircraft over scenery though. MS did a pretty nice job with the scenery even if most of it is autogen.
None of it is autogen.
-
Tried to watch it but could only understand the woman. The first 2 guys had such deep accents I have no idea what was said. Plus I'm not interested in Europe.
Are you interested in how they are taking flat 2d map data from Bing and converting into a 3d world for you to fly around? That is what this video was about. They actually showed Seattle too.
-
Yes you sure can!
-
Because MS has said it is OK to post videos, pre-release. The same was true for FSX.
-
Needing to keep a disk in the drive has not been confirmed.
In fact once installed FSX did not need a disk in the drive either.
The folks that are selling the DVD version HAVE confirmed that DVD 1 in your DVD drive will be necessary in order to run MSFS. This slows down multiple installs.
-
Folks, the NDA is still in effect.
-
1. Download Flight Simulator to its default location. It is not a very big file.. some 200 MB.
2. Go to Windows Settings / Apps and find the Flight Simulator "app"
3. Click on it and select Move
4. Point to your SSD and execute.
The App will be moved to its new location.
And now your Windows registry will have no idea where FSX is located. Some add-ons look at the registry for the FSX location, so this is not a good idea.
-
FSX could be installed anywhere if you used the Custom Install option.
-
It may run, but it may run like crap. At that point you might be better to run an older FS program.
-
That video showed us that you can wave to someone sitting next to you and that you can flip a switch. I don't need VR in order to do those things.
-
No one can because of the NDA is still in effect.
-
For msfs you MUST have Win10.
