  1. Nice shot! Im betting you have all the comforts of home in there! Ah to be wealthy… lol
  2. My old Saitek x52 joy and throttle work just fine. I had to remap several buttons and such, plus download new drivers (I'm now on Windows 11), but it works.
  3. The flybywire a320 is free and is payware quality. It’s definitely not a Boeing, but it’s a great jet to fly. Traffic: I’m currently using the Aerosoft simple traffic while awaiting Just Flight’s traffic add on. Only airport I added was my home town of Vegas, FlyTampa’s version, as they improved the strip and even added Raiders Stadium.
  4. Since the update, no matter which pilot and copilot avatars I choose, I still get the generic default guy. Anybody else? Nevermind, my speech was reset to offline, not Azure.
  5. I'm glad I saw this... Yesterday, I fired up MSFS and was met with "You are not connected to the internet"....followed by my scenery looking flat and listless. I checked my settings and the scenery was in the "offline" mode. Also the marketplace menu was shaded out. I thought I was a new victim of MSFS acting screwy... after a restart, I got the update message and after it was downloaded, everything was back to normal. I'm guessing their servers were overloaded causing my errors. Which again, I wouldn't have known that an update was available until I saw this thread.
  6. Nope, I’ve never had this happen. No clue what’s wrong.
  7. So anybody pick this beauty up yet? Lots of review vids on YouTube including by real pilots. Seems incredibly difficult for a beginner like myself so I’m currently passing on this.
  8. I just checked YouTube and there are many how-to videos on this aircraft. Good luck.
  9. I can’t answer that. I flew the defaults briefly before moving on to the FBW.
  10. “Insert destination data”.. I use the Flypad and the ATIS to get the QNH, winds, and temperatures .
  11. Good to hear. When selecting departure and arrival runways, remember to include the respective SID then hit “insert”. Example: runway 25L in Vegas has CHOWW2. I insert that and it shows my departure. Also, you may get “flight plan discontinuity” messages. When that happens, before the last waypoint, go to DIR and type in the next waypoint then insert, to keep the flight plan going, otherwise you’ll fly off into no man’s land lol.
  12. What kind of help are you seeking? If you start on the ATSU page, then select AOC, the INIT/PERF, the plan is integrated. Then hit INIT again and select the INIT key again (double click) then that’ll import the cruise alt, cost index, etc. It’s usually the LSK on the right side of the FMC. Then you go to the fuel button and click on the lsk for fuel. It’ll automatically load your fuel weight. It’s actually more simple now then any other aircraft.
  13. Perth here too. 1989. US Navy port call. The birds (ladies) loved us sailors.. lol
  14. If Australia wasn’t so draconian with their lockdown rules, I’d seriously consider living there. I made a port visit there back in 1989 and loved it.
  15. I haven’t figured out how to post screens just yet, so I’ll just verbalize… I’m now a “pilot” for Spirit Airlines. Flew from Vegas to Chicago O’Hare. (FBW A320.) departure at 0800 Pacific time. Landed at 1330 Eastern. Bit choppy over Denver and lots of wind shear as I got close to Chicago. Near perfect landing.
  16. One more thing, if you engage the autopilot and it doesn’t engage, like, makes the sound of turning off and just will not engage, turn off the auto throttle, retard the throttle, then go back to the CL indent. Sometimes upon takeoff, the throttle goes into what’s called throttle lock and the AP will not engage until this is cleared. Also, like Disneyflyer said, YouTube is a great tool. There are many step by step guides on how to fly this great plane. It’s definitely not a “control+E” then go aircraft. If you’re like me, the feeling of finally accomplishing a flight in this plane successfully is worth the long learning curve.
  17. Starting cold and dark, first thing to do is on the overhead panel, switch the three upper left knobs to the middle position (irs align). Give it about 5 minutes and your flight plan should then appear.
  18. Which version do you have? I have the developer one. Are you trying to do a complete flight, or just jump in and go? Do you use Simbrief for your flight plans? After setting altitude, click the up arrow after engaging autopilot.
  19. Reminds me of FSX: “traffic is glider at 28,000 ft. Report them in sight”. Lol whaaa?? Hope he had an oxygen mask!!
  20. That’s your game settings. Go to General Options > accessibility > user interface. Cockpit interaction system: set to Legacy, menu tooltips off (or on, your choice) See if that makes the hand turn to an arrow.
  21. It would take me writing a small novel to explain, but I'll start with this: You push the throttles only to the "CL" indent; not full power. Also, the Auto pilot is different than any Boeing. You have to place it in "managed mode" by clicking the upper half of the button (the curser becomes an up arrow) and the altitude, heading and/or speed looks like this: ---- with a dot at the end, indicating it's in managed mode. Those were the two that got me befuddled when I first downloaded the aircraft. (Developer mode version, by the way) Other than that, I'd need more details on what you're doing or not doing...
  22. Ok, I flew yesterday at 37,000 ft, and I used high altitude airways. My calculations showed my TOD to be around 85 nm from my fix, and lo and behold, ATC started my descent right when it should. I was right at 11,000 ft when I crossed my final waypoint before approach and all was perfect..got me down to the suggested 3,000 feet on final! Maybe there is something to the high altitude flight plan after all. Thank you!
