Mittelplate is a drilling and production platform in the German sector of the North Sea, near the island of Trischen offshore Friedrichskoog (Schleswig-Holstein). It produces Germany's largest oilfield. Mittelplate is a complex, densely packed installation. Compared to the real structure, my model is very simple. Phantasy as much as knowledge was used to design it. Nevertheless, with the prominent drilling rig and living quarters it resembles the real thing. For more information (installation, "how to find", legal) please refer to the readme.txt file contained in the archive. -

Set on a large natural mound, Launceston Castle dominates the surrounding landscape. Begun soon after the Norman Conquest, todays remains consist of a 13th-century round tower built by Richard, Earl of Cornwall, inside an earlier circular shell-keep. It is a very windy place and probably not too pleasant to stay at at that time. The default scenery places a round multi-story building at the site of the castle. The add-on replaces it with the tower and the shell-keep and adds the remains of two gate houses. This new version does not add any further buildings or remains but updates the way, materials, textures and terra forming rectangles are treated. The tower is illuminated. This version makes the scenery compatible to the commercial Great Britain South scenery of Orbx. This means: if you are using the previous version 1.1.0 of my scenery and you are not using the Orbx scenery, then you do not need to download this new version. There is no added benefit for you. I assume, you have checked that the disk is clean - no finger prints, no stains, nothing one could get rid of with a soft piece of cloth and some water with a drop of washing-up liquid? -

At the western end of the Beauly Firth lies the little town of Beauly (French "beau lieu" meaning "beautiful place") with its 13th century Valliscaulian priory. This scenery replaces the default building with a more accurate representation of its remains. This new version does not provide any new buildings or other features. I is only a recompilation to ensure compatibility of the add-on with today's - and future - versions of the SDK and the simulation. By Christian Grimsel -

This add-on performs several corrections to the distribution of vegetation of the default scenery and adds a photo-realistic water tower. Current version 1.3.0 does not provide any new buildings of features but is a maintenance version with adjustments and a re-compilation to ensure future compatibility. The scenery is compatible to the commercial East Frisian Island scenery version 1.4 of Stairport. By Christian Grimsel. -
Hi oneleg, I tried to reproduce you findings. When I start pressing the keys, the heading bug starts to spin. When I keep pressing, the heading bug continues to spin and it still spins, when I stop pressing. This means to me, that pressing the keys continuously, sends more keystrokes to the simulation than the simulation can handle. This might lead to a buffer overflow somewhere in the routines which handle key strokes. Overflows often have unpredictable consequences. But after all - why should you want to do this?

Spiekeroog is one of the Eastfrisian Islands separating the open North Sea from the Wadden Sea towards the Eastfrisian mainland. This add-on performs several corrections to the distribution of vegetation of the default scenery. The senery is compatible with the "East Frisian Island" scenery version 1.4 of Stairport. This new version is just a re-compilation of the previous version and does not contains any new features. Re-compilation is performed to ensure future compatibility. For further information please read the README.TXT file contained in the archive. In this README.TXT I forgot to mention that you need to delete an existing previous version of this scenery from the community directory before you copy the new version to the community directory. Pevensey is the place, where William the Conqueror landed in Britain in 1066. He found the remaints of a roman castle, besieged and burned in 491 by the Anglo-Saxons and re-fortified by Harold Godwinson in 1042. When he landed, he found the castle undefended, as its garrison had moved northward to fight Norwegians who had invaded England there. In the coming centuries, the castle was repeatedly under attack. The scenery replaces the default scenery and adds the castle walls and the remains of the towers. This new version does not add new buildings, but uses rectangles and polygons to improve the blending of the add-on into the default scenery. It also updates the way, materials and textures are treated. For further information please read the README.TXT file contained in the archive. Juist is one of the eastfrisian islands separating the open North Sea from the Wadden Sea towards the eastfrisian mainland. Juist is an island formed by dunes, about 17 km long, but less than a kilometer wide. It can be reached from Norddeich by a tide dependent ferry or by plane. In fact, Juist airfield is one of the busiest in Lower Saxony. Juist is covered by the default scenery in a rather simple way. But two commercial add-on packages cover the island: - the "East Frisian Island" scenery of Stairport/Aerosoft, which greatly improves the airfields and adds some buildings. - the "Landmarks of Germany - Niedersachsen & Bremen" package of FSDG, which adds the lighthouse. My scenery add-on tries to provide compatibility with both of these packages. In detail: - trees are removed from the south side of the island and around the airfield (Stairport scenery) but added around lake Hammer - the default "Domaene Bill" and "Domaene Loog" buildings are replaced by more realistic 3D models with night lighting - the round houses on the tanks of the sewage plant as well as a multi-storey building near the east end of the main village are removed. A glass house standing on the site is added. - landing stages, ships and boats are added to the harbour; the sight-seeing tower at the harbour entrance is added. It does not exist in the default scenery and exists only as a very generic model in the Stairport add-on. Now in both cases my tower is displayed. - the non-operational Juist lighthouse is added (non-operational means, that it is not allowed to shine towards the sea, its lamp has to shine land-ward - 6 sec on, 6 sec off). - the "second" light house introduced by FSDG is removed. - the island church has been added to the main village. - some horses are placed onto the meadows - a white line visible east of the Juist village is removed as well as possible - corrections are applied to the dune promenade (non-existing houses removed, night lights added) - the water tower has been added - the former train shed has been added. In the previous century Juist did not have a harbour (which was built in the early 1980's only), but a pier with engine driven trains for the transportation of people and goods. The train shed (called the "Black Hut" or "Black Pad" - "Schwarze Bude") is a building which remained. The train shed was only necessary for the stairport version of my scenery (where the default building has been removed for whatever reason), but once created I also added it the the default version. The senery comes in two versions, one for users of the the "East Frisian Island" scenery of Stairport, and one for users of the default / FSDG scenery. Only one can be used at a time. For more information please read the README.TXT file which can be found in the archive. -
Hi Cosmo, If you want to remove static aircrafts, you will need to create your own little project using the SDK Polygons or exclusion rectangles. Maybe you will have to remove some polygons first. Success not guaranteed. If you want to remove AI aircrafts, i have no clue, how. Are you familiar with creation of SDK projects? Do you want to give it a trial?

If I interpret MS hints correctly, it is more a software/configuration thing - but for the users who have problems it does not really matter, as long as they get some solution and can download. Strange enough my download went reasonably smooth. -

It is a problem on Microsoft's side. The know about it. Have a look at the flight simulator forums of Microsoft. The make proposals how to (maybe) work around the problem. -

C172 default settings
grimsel replied to davidc2's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 General Discussion
I found something, but that does not really look very efficient to me: - create a flight plan and save it. - start the flight; you will be on the runway of the airport where you want to take off - adjust the aircraft configuration - store as a FLT file Now if you quit MSFS and return, by loading the FLT file the flight plan is loaded with it and the configuration of the aircraft is preserved. It seems the FLT file knows about the flight plan, but you cannot make the flight plan know about the FLT file. But I'm afraid, that is not really what you wanted to achieve. -

Have you tried the following: - place the aircraft on your favourite runway - perform modifications - save as a .flt file - shut down MSFS - when you restart MSFS next time... - go to the world map - reload the .flt file In a quick test I made it worked for a C152 for flaps and yoke. -

Rievaulx Abbey (North York Moors, UK), version 2.0.0 -- Add-on for MSFS 2020 Founded in 1132 by 12 Cistercian monks, the monastery grew rapidly. Around 1300 the monastery reached its peak size with 140 monks and maybe 500 lay brothers. But at the same time, the abbey had incurred debts - just like modern start-ups growing too fast. There were problems like an epidemic of sheep scab and attacks by the Scots. The monks were in severe financial problems. In the mid 14th century, the black death caused a great reduction in population and made it difficult to recruit new lay brothers for manual labour. At the end, the abbey had shrunk almost to the size it had, when it started - 14 monks, three lay brothers and the abbot. This scenery replaces the buildings occupying the site of the abbey in the default scenery with more realistic abbey building remains. This second versions adds the refectory and dormatory remains. Hi, I never experienced something similar, so I am just guessing: Have you checked whether there are corresponding entries in your MSFS content manager? Have you verified the correct location of your community directory? Have you successfully installed add-ons before; is this the first time something fails to show up?
