What's a little scud running among friends?

Nice screenshot.

Try as I might, I can't get that first file to show up on here. The second one does though, and it mentions the first one in its write up. 😟

I'll send the zips I used in PM, see if that works.

I will still do a little "adjusting" of these to add the helo spots and a couple other details.

I will upload as just that, enhancements to be used with these files.

VP2 The craft is a Beech King Air 300 belonging to the FAA (nav aid calibration etc.)

all the info I have is from the Aircraft.cfg file:

That's nicer than any King Air I have!

Yes they work well.  Just don't taxi off the side of the runway in a few spots.  The runway does not sit on the terrain seamlessly.

Looking forward to your enhancements.

WANT A BEAUTIFUL FLYING CHALLENGE!??

I know a lot of folks are flying in and near Australia after this challenge.  I suggest you turn all your scenery slides way up and fly from NZQN to NZMF in New Zealand!  It's only 41 miles as the crow flies.

Let us know how your landing at NZMF went!  If I were flying RW I'd be dead there at least twice before I got it even half decent!  But, at least with the ORBX New Zealand scenery, it sure is beautiful!

The Photo of you in the Snowstorm reminded me of a similarly sketchy flight I had in a DC-3; the folks at DC3 Airways came up with a Mod to simulate Icing conditions, and I was using that bird for a Leg in the World Rally. Snowstorm @ 10,000' and the Windscreen started freezing up! You could hear the Ice creaking! I got to a lower Altitude and the Ice broke away from the Windscreen allowing me to see the Runway and Land. Scary!

Good job, Melo!  This is a test reply, my first time posting.

Hello to Kit, it's been over 20 years since we last flew together with Lee James and Mike "Greenie" Greenwood.

Stone me Alan, there's a name from the past! How's life treating you these days? You're obviously still flight simming. 🙂

Melo persuaded me to join with this crazy lot for a Rally across the US a month or so back, and they're a REALLY good bunch, wholly recommended.

Uh-oh, another Alan! Look out World... Here we come! 😋

Glad to have you here! Why don't you come along for the ride and see where it takes you? Like Kit said... we don't bite, are (somewhat) housebroken, and would be very glad to have you!

Still heading vaguely eastward, but more southward on this leg, I left Haines heading for a 'MUST VISIT' place in the flying boat/ amphibian world, which is Sproat Lake in British Columbia. That's because the two MONSTER Martin Mars flying boat water tankers are based there usually, and I'd just HAD to see them.

Getting out of Haines Marina was OK, so long as I could dodge all the pleasure boats. This guy carved right across my bow as I headed for the threshold of the water runway!

Leg11-a.jpg.6d814263e9c6ae959d6aff31545d4c28.jpg

Climbing out from there required quite a sharp turn to port to avoid the hefty cliffs, but soon I was able to climb in the steep sided valley which just happened to point in the direction I wanted to fly. Result!

What was slightly odd is my Sealand seems to be leaving a smoke trail all the time, but some 50 ft or so BELOW me? What's that all about, eh?

Leg11-b.jpg.7676e9f6fc98f465c24145ae50a0549c.jpg

Heading south west I was soon out of the Alaska Panhandle area and over Canada proper, and they had LOTS of snow capped mountains there too!

Leg11-c.jpg.411096bf6cfe6c1d18c92c535823635e.jpg

But the further south I flew it became more and more forested as the snow had melted around here I suppose.

Leg11-d.jpg.9e74327a7dfda85f3e74a786d1eb389b.jpg

Luckily the peaks diminished a bit as I headed south as I needed to descend soon for the approach into Sproat Lake. And now I've got my FS traffic back again, I could see one of the Mars 'boats getting off the lake in FST!

Leg11-e.jpg.a21a0f7b5d2f8e69058761434c11fa7c.jpg

I could just see the Lake in the distance as I started my descent down that handy valley.

Leg11-f.jpg.28d54fbe0740c40960ab26274722b46c.jpg

I wondered why the Mars was taking off when I saw it in FST, but just then I flew past a peak on my west and it became blindingly obvious! There was  a forest fire right in top of that hill there!

Leg11-g.jpg.b335d323d08afbf1a1d774f184550b43.jpg

I hoped to get down before the Mars landed, or maybe even before it did an ultra-low pass to refill its tanks, so kept on southward toward the Lake.

Leg11-h.jpg.fd7eecad98e3e726c455f0fd5fc78736.jpg

And right then, about 2 mins out, FSX dealt me ANOTHER CTD!!!! 😬

I'm getting fed up with this and finally decided to get my un-installed copy of FSXSave properly setup. It took some hours of poring through posts on this site, but I think I've finally done it, and I carried on with this flight from a notional position as the pic above.

Turning west onto the Lake runway and over the town was pretty simple and there was the Lake, and the Mars, right ahead of me!

Leg11-i.jpg.2b5ec0164aded8cbed2aab437fcf84e2.jpg

Landing on that vast mass of water was simple of course and I was soon taxi-ing toward the slipway and past the huge red & white monster 'boats.

Leg11-j.jpg.fc7b722bdf0172e1b345489a94bb9323.jpg

Being an amphibian I put my wheels down and taxied up the slipway to park on their ramp, something the massive Mars 'boats can't actually do.

Leg11-k.jpg.8ce5f634e46b53e19e219dd1b69631bb.jpg

I expect I'll stop over here for the evening, talking 'boats etc. in the hotel dining rooms and bars, before I get off and head a bit more eastward on my next leg.

Regards

Kit

Gander International (CYQX) to Halifax International (CYHZ)

I purposely waited a few days to do this flight.  Gave the Gander snow storm plenty of time to move on.

Pre-flight done, ready to start the engine.
And the weather looks good!

46 minutes, and half way there.

56almosthalifax.thumb.jpg.21d0140076ac2bc5c8002f810cc4e985.jpg

56 minutes.  Almost feet dry over Halifax.

5 minutes later.  Spoke too soon.  Lots of turbulence knocking my Spitfire about.  She is normally a very stable camera platform, but not in these conditions.

7510500.thumb.jpg.0a6f949ed6005dc17d3976008e983bec.jpg

75 minutes so far.  Still lots of turbulence at this altitude.

1 hour and 20 minutes.  At Top of Descent point.

descended5000nogap.thumb.jpg.4219581ee89bba7cd04655b466a8d109.jpg

I descended to 5,000 ft but stayed above the clouds hoping for a convenient gap in the clouds to duck down through.

descenttry.jpg.0ea2a6108819d0394a6812f558faa76e.jpg

No such luck so I tried a cautious careful descent. (at the red arrow)  Got all the way down to 1,000 feet and still could see NOTHING so I climbed back up to about 3,000 feet for safety.

My original plan was to land on runway 06 but the winds had shifted enroute so the current arrival runway is runway 15.

3300airportbehindme.thumb.jpg.a5be04adc3c83fc1d9218af0f05fc5eb.jpg
At 3,300 feet.  On downwind leg for runway 15.

In clear conditions you would see runway 06 right off my right wingtip.  No such luck today!

There is method to my madness flying in this soup.  Headed for Shubenacadie Grand Lake ahead so I can let down over water and get on base leg for runway 15.  At least there I know what the altitude should be.

Boston!!!!  My old stomping grounds!  IRL, my home field was KDXR, and I've landed Cherokees at KOWD a time or two.  In the sim (FS9), I used to fly into Gillette for home games (Go Patriots!).
