CFS Scenery--Tarawa Atoll
CFS Scenery--Tarawa Atoll. Tarawa is one of the sixteen atolls that form the Gilbert Group. During WWII, the battle for Tarawa was a pivotal event in the Pacific Theater at the end of 1943. The Gilbert Islands were the southeastern-most outposts of the Japanese Empire, and Betio Island on the southwest corner of Tarawa Atoll had been transformed into the most heavily fortified base, yard-for-yard, of any in the Pacific. The center of Betio was largely occupied by the 4000 foot airstrip built on compacted reef mud and coral. The Betio Airfield scenery is roughly historically accurate and shows a highly detailed depiction of airbase and coastal defences, to represent a wartime style of this Japanese airfield. The other airfields sceneries (Bonriki and Buariki) are totally fictional. Shows the current airfields layer taken from the real maps and a supposed buildings distribution just as a Japanese Navy and Army Airfield during WWII. By Edmundo Abad.390 downloads
