The GameSpy online multiplayer service FSX Gold used was shut down a few years ago. There are some more details and some alternatives listed below.
http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?257195-Gamespy-is-down-alternative-connections-here
Another option is FSX Steam Edition as it replaced GameSpy with Steam's multiplayer service. Steam Edition often goes on sale for $5-10.

Ok, Update. NaturalPoint says TrackIR does NOT work on a Mac. My question now is, Why is there an option to enable it in the settings. Does X-Plane simply use the same screen for a Mac as it does on a Windows computer, and the option is there but just inactive on the Mac computers?
Let's try this one more time in case you missed my other replies. While TrackIR may not officially support Macs, others have gotten it to work. This may be why X-Plane still presents you with the option. Or they simply didn't hide the option in the Mac version. See the thread below for one lead.

Was that flown with X-Plane on a Mac or PC? Took a quick look and it wasn't clear.

ah well it was worth a shot. thanks any way guys.
Don't give up that easy. For Plan-G and many other FSX related applications you can use Simconnect to run the application on a second computer, such as your laptop. Give the thread below a read, as well as the manual for Plan-G, or any other program you are looking to run.

It seems unlikely to me.
Well, it is possible.
There are one or two solutions out there. Not sure how performance is though.

One can also use an iPad as an external monitor too.
However, either a second monitor, or using Simconnect (for apps that support it) over the local network to the laptop would be better options.

Thanks Loki.
OK. will open a thread and look at cooling hardware.
Edit> Just restarted and went to BIOS. Temp target was at 60 C, and minimum fan speed was at 0 zero.
I changed it to tem target 50 C and minimum fan speed 50%
Now temp at idle is at 52 C. But fan is working at slow speed all the time.
Is this target ok?
regards
K
That is much better. The CPU fan should always be running.
Is there an option in the BIOS for AMD Cool'N'Quiet (or something similar)? This allows for better control of the CPU fan.
What's the ambient room temperature? Unless the room is quite warm, the CPU idle temp should be lower still.
-
Temperatures are stable, right now as I right Core0 is 63,
If the CPU temperatures are above 60C when the computer is basically idle, there is a cooling problem with the system. At idle, the CPU should be in the 40-50C range. The max safe temperature for Phenom II CPUs is around 70C. You may want to start a new thread in the hardware forum to get this sorted out. Probably need to look into how well the CPU heatsink is mounted, the number and setup of the case cooling fans, and possibly the BIOS fan control settings
http://www.pantherproducts.co.uk/index.php?pageid=CPUtemperatures
but the processor never spinned with such furor. What is bothersome is the noise. This is the CPU fan trying desperately to keep the CPU cool. The best way to fix this is sorting out the hardware side.

If your screenshots are blurry, the problem will be with the program you are using to create them. Video cards or any other differences between systems shouldn't matter. Blurry images with color banding are a good sign the jpeg is being created with low quality settings. At high quality, a jpeg file should easily look better than a gif one.
By all means stick with what works for you though!
-
If a JPEG is blurry, it is because of the quality it was saved in, not the format. If JPEGs were as bad as indicated, it wouldn't be the standard format for digital cameras.

Sorry I don't work in retail.. nor do I control prices MS does. And if they want people to buy Xbox controllers next month I'm not surprised they changed the prices.
Any time I've ever looked, the wired controller has always been cheaper. It's nothing new, at least around here.
The fact remains FSX does not support all the features because you actually need the Xlibraries, not the DirectX ones. You really need to do some research. As shown in the quick reference card that comes with FSX, the sim supports the use of all buttons and controls on the Xbox 360 controller. Just for fun I plugged one in and gave it a go, and what do you know, it worked!
-
One note though, the actual Xbox controller is wireless by default. The one that works with the PC is a wired controller and costs a few bucks more.
Around here the wired controller is cheaper than the wireless controller for Windows model, which does come with a wireless adapter for the PC (or any of the wireless models for the Xbox itself).
Also FSX didn't recognize all the analog coponents found on the xbox controller, in fact only 1 out of 4 work. I believe you also can't use the D-pad either...Well, according to the quick reference card, all buttons, analog sticks and the d_pad are recognized and used by FSX.
-
So this info is wrong or not? Does not an Xbox 360 controller require an Xbox? Or am I more confused than normal?
I think people need to pull out the quick reference card that came with FSX as it supports the Xbox 360 controller and is not an Xbox game.

Is Flight only hawaii???
The base program is free to download and comes with Hawaii and one plane only. Their plan is to offer more aircraft, scenery and other add-ons through a built-in marketplace.

Everything that is known is on the official site linked above. They have listed some examples of hardware they're testing the system on, but have not provided any official system specs.

And here is how Windows virtual memory works.

Mark Russinovich has a great blog post about how Windows handles physical memory for those that are interested.

Very well said Mike. Well enough that I think it should be stuck to the top... :)
If I won the lotto...

Yes, one can always dream. Dream of winning something in the order of $50+ million to start a new sim from scratch with all the bells and whistles. GTA V, for example, cost something like $137 million to develop (with marketing costs on top of that).
