  1. Tom, I am putting the airfields (SceneryGenX) and the airfield grass (SBuilder) and the terrain (EZlandclass) into the same scenery folder. All the others are read by FS9 and show. I also just deleted EZlandclass and downloaded and installed it again, v2, which is what I had before. Same result, nothing. I also tried with terrain in a separate scenery folder and installed in the FS9 scenery library; nothing. I really cannot figure out what might be happening, or how, let alone WHY NOW, as I have changed nothing. I also tried it in a different area, for no logical reason except hope, and no result.
  2. hgschnell, I will look at that, but right now I have been brought to a halt on these small BC airfields by the terrain texture problem described in the adjacent post.
  3. Thinking about this, I now suspect that this is an FS9 "numbers" problem. A few years ago I could not install new scenery in the FS9 library, and found that there is a maximum number that can be installed; 1,100 or 1,200, around that kind of number. I solved that problem by putting all my Ontario scenery into one "RWOntario" folder and deleted all the single airport listings from the library. In fact I did the same for British Columbia, Alberta, etc etc. I do not believe that I have reached, again, that 1,200 limit (or whatever it is) for scenery library entries. I am putting the new and small BC airfields into one folder and not registering them individually in the library, and when I remove and replace the airfield grass in the correct position using SBuilder then that bgl works fine. When I use EZlandclass for surrounding terrain then the bgl does not work at all. Puzzled. Ideas?
  4. I have used EZ landclass for years to easily modify the terrain types close to the airfields I made. It is functioning now as it has always done in the past: fill out the short questionaire regarding scenery name and location (get from FS9) and which folder to keep scenery in and which FS9 or/and FSX is it for, and then open the grid, locate FS9 in one of the grid boxes, number the box as per terrain you want, save, create the scenery bgl, then exit the programme. Put the bgl in a live scenery folder, go to the location and see the result. Except there is no result?!? Can this be an EZ landclass malfunction, or an FS9 one? Any ideas?
  5. Defaid, I have done that with offshore Alaskan island airfields, but in southern BC there are just too many in a bgl.
  6. You are right about time consuming! It would take much more time than all the rest of the airfield, and I will manage without it.
  7. Tom, As I thought then, just make a flatten in the new scenery that brings the old area up to approximately what it should be if there hadn't been an airfield there. Tricky when it's a steep hill! I used to be able to make a "sloped" flatten but I forgot how.
  8. When I modify an existing airfield and move it to the correct side of the river, I am left with a flattened area in a hillside hole where it was originally and wrongly made. Is there some way to get rid of the stock flatten?
  9. Whether or not I buy will be decided by a screenshot of Rockcliffe CYRO in Ottawa, Canada. If it resembles the actual airfield (doesn't have to be totally identical, and I would be astounded if it was!) then great. If it is unrecognisable.....
  10. Very unlikely to be texture files. Excellent suggestion to try another float place, but it's almost certain that they were never intended to operate as ai, and never will unless edited to make it possible.
  11. More info? Did these particular planes work ok before? Or are they new and don't work?
  12. I would rate his scenery work not as "among" but "as" the best freeware by far. Nobody puts more work into a freeware airport than Greg, and I qualify as lazy when compared to him.
  13. I took another look at Stephenville after your comments. I agree that it isn't as good as I would like it to be, and I did get it dipping below20fps (and once briefly to 16fps) but it then occurred to me that your settings may not be the same as mine. Ground shadows on or off, for instance? Anyway, it is what it is and the thought of the hours of work required to remake the building's textures to be a single one for each wall.... Possible, but horrifying!
  14. XTC: It is due to me running out of photographic textures for buildings, where the front of a hangar would be only one texture and FS9 doesn't have to wonder which texture it is supposed to show. "Making" a texture for a hangar by creating the overall "blue vertical" texture in the same way as the photographic texture and then adding ON TOP of that the individual doors and windows and signs requires FS9 to deal with which mipped textures to show and on what buildings as you get further away. If you are close and static then no problem. As you get further away then FS9 has difficulties, and it is at large airports that you can get further away from some buildings while remaining close to others, the most complicated situation of all.
  15. Jim, a single land class throughout a cell. So if there are some 30 of them along one bank of a river that in FS9 doesn't have trees and should have, then it takes a total of 30 typings of "22" in the relevant excel squares and and a couple of mouse clicks to make the bgl. Total of 10 minutes? (presuming 22 is the right number for the trees that you want). Why would I want to open photoshop? It does not auto-generate mixed deciduous and coniferous cool forest trees. Land class numbers are to be found at the bottom of the sheet; click on "land class" (from memory, I don't have it open)
  16. Jim, the main reason for using EZlandclass is that it is a lot quicker to use for just changing land class of a complete LOD.
  17. As an experiment I tried the 2006 version and that worked fine with FSconnect. Which doesn't help you of course except perhaps to give you hope.
  18. Sounds to me that loading the earlier version of EZlandclass would be a good idea. At least it works as promised.
  19. You need fsuipc to make the connection. Investigate on here how to download it; I forget as it was some years ago for me.....
  20. I am going with the High Definition Environment. Version 1 is far better than I expected to be able to even find for FS9, and I am told that v2 is even better than v1.
  21. Larry, I installed hde and I am really impressed. So is version 2 really so much better? If so then that's the download for tomorrow.
  22. So the answer is "No, there aren't"? Drat.

    clouds

Are there any really realistic clouds for fs9?
  24. Thanks for that Graeme. Of course I altered the numbers in the wrong direction first but in the end I got there.
