  1. I meant a keyboard...mouse...or controller action.
  2. Has anyone figured out how to toggle the HUD in the B787?
  3. Been scrimpin' on computers and parts for far too long. First one I had was a used pc with a 10mb HD. Now, 87 is fading in my rear-view mirror, so when I built this one past August I said "what the hell, blow some of the kid's inheritance", so I went with closer to "top of the line with parts and software.
  4. Yes! It DL'd fast and smooth. Watching the info as it DL'd, it looks like it fixed a lot of Longitude (aircraft) issues, but I didn't notice any B787-10 repairs. Can anyone confirm all what the update did?
  5. I'm not on my flight sim computer at the moment, but I'm quite sure that under OPTIONS/HOTAS, there is a selection named SENSITIVITY at the top of that left panel. If you haven't already done so, you may want to toy around with the Z Axis settings. May not be your problem but I've improved several issues doing such.
  6. Got my deluxe version from the MS Store. Went smooth as silk.
  7. I know I'm beating a dead horse, but maybe Asobo/MS will fix it sooner or later if we squawk enough. The approach and landing at the end of a (especially long) flight is the jewel of your fs experience. Except for mountains or other nasty obstructions along my path, when ATC says I'm cleared to land, I'd like to be about 3k feet agl and 10 miles out instead of at 10k feet and over runway threshold.
  8. Update SMOOTH AS SILK! Tried the new Airbus (A321 I think) and when I released the brakes it rolled backwards and crashed. Flew the Spruce Goose around the Big Easy and set her down in Lake Pontchartrain a few times. Not many jollies there except to see that behemoth more than a few feet off the water. Then retrogressed to my fav, the B-787-10 to see if the latest update solved or changed any parameters there. None that I could tell. Oh well, maybe next time. But, as said above, you got to give the team credit on the DL.
  9. As of recently, what I do to slow the big ones down is, just for a few seconds, activate the spoilers then retract them. Can't say for sure this is an action taken in the real world, but someone on one of the forums more or less swore to being a witness to such on a real flight.
  10. Yeah, know what you mean. Navdata plus all the free stuff plus info incorporated into MSFS2020 makes a real unnecessary chore of dragging out those books and charts. Besides, as I mentioned earlier, they are dated 1992, although much (or most) data is still valid. I think I dragged out one or two publications when I was reborn into 2020. Too much trouble. But I can't bring myself to trash all that printed info. Guess I'm a hoarder.
  11. REALLY! Have you still got 'em? Are you talking about those old maps etc. Yes I have a box I prepped for a friend but he passed away. If you want, I'll pass 'em on.
  12. Thanks Tiger. Poking around I notice others have the same gripe about arriving over threshold and still needing pressurization. I think it was around 1992 when I first attempted messin' with SIDS/STARS. Being a 40 year NWS (National Weather Service) employee I was privy to all those Approach plates along with Lo Alt & Hi Alt charts. When one could start utilizing them in MS flightsim, I was on top of it. I am humble enough to think maybe this prob is my fault, but cannot put my finger on it, no matter how hard I try. My wannabe profession was to be an airline pilot, but not many of us have our dreams fulfilled. I'm now 87 so need to now get my jollies with MSFS2020.
  13. Been there...Done that. I almost always select IFR Hi and also set up SIDS & STARS for correct runways. But, as the saying goes, stuff happens.
  14. Ditto with the ALT Decrease Request. I most always do it in 9K chunks ...but sometimes I forget. I assume real-life ATC treats you more professionally than "Report Runway In Sight" when you're just cracking the cirrus layer. Like yesterday, when I was told I was 11 miles south of KMCO 36R and still at 10K feet. At my age, I'm elated to still know who I am, but trying to remember all the intricacies of a decent landing sometimes escapes me. I would hope that with more Forum complaints about the sim ATC, that ASOBO, MS and whomever else has a say in fixing probs, would get this fixed ASAP. Good day!
  15. Thanks Mr. Zippy. I did give that a thought but wondered if that action was done in a real-life situation. Also, hope you get that new puter soon and start enjoying this latest MS sim. Even with its problems, it is a giant leap over previous versions. And, let me take this moment to say thanks for all of your sage advice. Most always, you're spot on.
  16. Been enjoying most everything about MSFS2020 since getting my one good eye working again. Started off with the Cessna 172...NO PROBS. Moved on to the Beech Baron, Pilatus, King Air & Citation. If I recall, I was doing o.k. with ILS until I graduated up to the 787. I remember a few landings where I did lock on to the Glide Slope with this big animal, but it was probably on a few approaches I'm highly familiar with (KMSY, KPNS, etc.), and knew where I had to be. But for the past few weeks, filing flight plans and depending on ATC for guidance, I have accomplished ZILCH! Most always it has been ATC not bringing me down to below the GS. Another prob I'm having with descents and approaches is slowing this monster down to landing speed, even with full flaps and gear down. I started to watch a few youtube vids about the 787 but got bored with all the fluff. I might add, I never had these problems landing big iron in previous MS Flight Sims issues. And Sam Hill? An attention getter, and maybe make the young pilots wonder about it.
  17. To steal a line from a Maurice Chevalier...Hermione Gingold tune, Ah yes! I remember it well. Not certain of the year I was introduced to that Sub Logic STIMULATOR (yes...stimulator it was and still is), but 1983 is close.
  18. Query definitely solved. In MSFS 2020 go to MORE/SHOW LEGEND/NAVAIDS and shore 'nuff, it's an NDB. Looks purplish-brown (more brown) on my monitor and looks like an artsy cow-pie.
  19. NDB,s did cross my mind, especially when seeing the three digits (such as 529) when you clicked on one. But not having khz after the 3 digits did keep my cajun curious pondering. I remember taking a Pilot Weather Briefing course back around 1960, when VOR's were in their youth and NDB's were still widely used. But that was many moons ago and I forgot what I learned.
  20. Yeah, it's probably magenta in color. Here's a shot of at least 3 around Houston, TX (JY, HU & LYD). I also thought of checking one out in a more desolate locale and saw one a bit SE of Wink, TX, then compared it with a Lo Alt VOR map but came up empty. p.s. Don't know if I attached photo correctly, but will find out when I hit the submit button
