  1. Hi There are a lot of issues with the autopilot still. For me that’s the main one but it doesn’t stop me flying. X Plane won’t eveR look this good over the whole world out of the box but it does already have VR. I guess if money is no object it has more planes, it has helicopters already and the purchased third party planes are more study level. But if you want to explore the whole world in beautiful detail then MFS is the one. But take out a month sub for GAME Pass at £1 and try MSF for next to nothing.
  2. Sounds like you haven’t configured a rudder but I have had a bug in take off where it does just go crazy and the rudders don’t work.
  3. Yea, that’s what I thought when buying the standard version. If I had realised and knew about Game Pass I’d have paid the quid to try out the standard.
  4. I do but at a huge, taking the piss, price hike on the original cost. If they reduce the price to £50 I will snap it up.
  5. Wherever you buy it you will end up actually downloading it from the Microsoft site (Steam Etc only installs the downloader) and you will need a Microsoft account. I wish I had bought the full version instead of the standard but standard is still great. In case you didn’t know, the standard version is on Game Pass, which costs £1 for the first month so you can trial both the game and the direct from Microsoft experience for next to nothing. I went with Microsoft direct As I thought the less intermediaries the better but I guess that Steam or Amazon etc is just a preference.
  6. The X-15 could hit Mach 6 but there are no acknowledged manned aircraft in regular service that can hit Mach 4.
  7. Copy and paste your house Gps location from google or bing into the start location instead of an airfield.
  8. I can work around the AP shortcomings but sometimes things just break and the AP will try to turn in a heading and/or reach an altitude even though you have switched it off and have taken manual control for landing. It doesn’t happen often but it happened to me yesterday. Switched the AP off to enter landing pattern and the plane consistently fought to bank left and high. Trimming the nose hard down could break the climb and repeatedly turning the AP on and off eventually broke the turn. It seemed like that if you use NAV and have a desired altitude set but later use Heading Mode and VS, switching the AP off has the effect of telling the AP to chase the original settings despite the AP being turned off. And it was, without any doubt, turned off. According to both the Garmin and the button mouseover tip. It doesn’t happen to me often but it happens. My intuition is that the problem has gotten a lot worse since they ‘fixed’ the issue in the last patch.
  9. There are shorter videos but in the end occasionally the AP will decide to kill you even after you switch it off.
  10. Well, removing the Sensitivity Setting didn’t really help there. My perfectly Windows calibrated pedals are way too sensitive without that option. Just putting my feet on them will send some aircraft into a spin. But I put a curve back on them with Target so no biggie. Overall though, I agree. Sadly, using first purchasers as paying beta testers s just how the industry rolls now. Perhaps with the size and complexity of games like this it is inevitable. If you buy a new game you know what to expect. Mostly I hold off but this time I did not and for the most part it’s fine. Flying VFR GA the only real issue is the occasional tendency of the AP to throw fits. The problem for me is actually worse after the latest patch, The AP should not occasionally be trying to turn to a previously selected heading or reach a previously set altitude once the AP is totally disengaged. But compared to all the good things that’s minor compared to all the great stuff.
  11. Thanks Kap. Don’t think the transfer is actually working because I tried that. I still end with the fuel low warning. Perhaps if I remember to turn it on at the beginning. Feels like they mislabelled Emergency Tank because that works like Tank Select as you say. But if it works t works. Thanks for the Information and the confirmation. I thought must be missing a switch somewhere. Overall I find the DA40 to be a miserable aircraft. Can barely get in the air with 4 passengers, can barely climb when it does and constantly threatens to stall For the first 5 minutes. Feels there’s something wrong with the implementation but maybe I’m expecting too much from watching too many gushing reviews of the real thing.
  12. Hi This aircraft has left snd right tanks but the Fuel selector doesn’t have a left and right option. Cannot find any option to set automatic fuel tank use to keep the tanks balanced so It only draws on one tank. Neither the fuel pump on/off nor the Fuel Trans buttons seem to do anything. All that seems to do anything is switching to the Fuel Valve Emergency. With the other 2 options on this seems to be rebalancing the tanks but this doesn’t feel it’s how it should work. Any illumination appreciated
  13. And as I belatedly realised with my grotesquely over sensitive Thrustmaster pedals - expensive kit come with their own configuration software to do curves with.
  14. The first thing I did once I could fly decently was fly around the coast of Britain. I’m biased but it is wonderful from the air. My current project is flying down through France and Spain and round the Mediterranean. With another lockdown looming it’s my escape. Sardinia looks fantastic. The only thing that tempts me about X is helicopters but I figure we will have these soon enough. I never played the old Civilian flight sims but spent way too much of the eighties playing Apache Gunship and Falcon. Oh by the way. I solved the rudder sensitivity issue you were advising me on. It was so obvious I didn’t see it. Use the Thrustmaster Target software to do a curve. Doh!
  15. Sorry - British expression - turning green with envy. Thanks for the informed opinion. I’ve not flown the Air Bus, just the GA ones but I’m loving MFS. I’m sure XP has all kinds of strengths but MFS gives me the whole world to explore. I think the pount of the video was what they said at the beginning - which sim as they stand, is at this moment the best one for active pilots looking to keep their IFR skills sharp. They were not comparing the sims in general. Just making a limited comparison for a limited purpose. I’ve no experience of X11 but I can imagine being able to install a more fully implemented Garmin system from third party developers would give it an edge in that particular instance. But like they also said - for VFR training MFS is better.
  16. To be fair they acknowledge the point about Early Days and third party developers right at the start and concluded that X11’s IFR training advantage might not last long. I suspect mfs2020 will have a user base that will attract third party developers and the advantage will vanish. You’re a real pilot (turns chameleon green)? What do you fly, if you don’t mind me asking? No problem if you do.
  17. The Game Store keeps track of what you have installed so just uninstall on one pc and reinstall on the new. You are signing in to the Store to play and can only sign in once so probably just like with STEAM you could have it on 2 machines.
  18. Hi Bummer. Have you tried repairing the app? https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016107019-How-to-repair-or-remove-Microsoft-Flight-Simulator-on-Microsoft-Store-Gamepass
  19. At the risk of invoking unsought matrimonial advice - I am thoroughly enjoying a sim which does not ask me to spend hundreds of pounds on third party scenery to make it look good or pay £40 + a pop for an aircraft. Sure, it has problems - just like every new or even mature products - but I am not interested in flying airliners - I just want to fly GA VFR to and over parts of the world I will never see. That being the case this thing has given me dozens of hours of pleasure. It’s relaxing at a very stressful time when along with millions of others I’m mostly stuck inside. I appreciate it might not meet others differing requirements but there are plenty of other flight sims. For me, this is almost a work of art and one I am really glad is out just as we begin the inevitable slide into another national lockdown.
  20. Appreciate the input but it’s not my first Windows rodeo. The issue is the removal of the Sensitivity tuning in the patch. Tuning axes to our particular individual physical requirements is pretty much a basic expectation for a sim. It worked fine up until yesterday evening and it’ll be fine when they eventually get round to fixing it.
  21. For me it is specifically the pedals. They were too sensitive by default. With curves they were fine. The AP is still prone to fits but I’m just treating it like a pre-patch Idiot child so it’s not an issue for me. From my perspective this patch is a pretty poor effort but I can live with it as I have a working backup rudder and don’t fly big jets by instruments. Making some things worse and not delivering on some of the patch notes is probably not a Finest Moment for them.
  22. Same here but curbed it with Sensitivity Curve changes, which is what they were for. It wasn’t a calibration issue for me. For me now, it’s a patch issue. Not for you though. Not flown the bigger things.
  23. Yes (and reinstalled drivers) but this is a widespread issue, not a few people. I’m using the stick twist as the rudder fo the time being, I would be screwed if it was a Warthog though. If you know of a way to add a dead zone to pedals in Windows then I am all ears.
  24. A Manual would have been good but I picked it up from videos and the basic Flying Lessons. But I only fly VFR GA so have not picked up on issues in other areas. Didn’t bring in any expectations from other sims so maybe that’s why the interface seemed okay. Wouldn’t mind it being better though. But I do think it’s unfair to call it a game though. Rom my limited experience of FSX Vanilla I’m not seeing much difference except in the graphics. Sure, it’s not a hard core Sim but study level aircraft will come. Meanwhile it’s bringing a whole new bunch of enthusiastic Simmers and that has to be good for the hobby.
