  1. If I may, I'm not surprised your PC is having a hard time on 1440p. This sim is brutal to run on anything but the latest hardware. That said, I'm reading between the lines that you, personally, don't need 60 FPS to enjoy the sim - neither do I. So for a solid 25 - 35 FPS on a combination of medium and high settings, I would try to find a slightly better GPU and get 8 GB additional RAM. For a pretty good summary of how various GPUs fare with the sim, see this: https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/ms_flight_simulator_(2020)_the_2021_pc_graphics_performance_benchmark_review,7.html The above link goes directly to the 1440p benchmarks, but give the entirety of the article a read. It's quite informative. All the best!
  2. It matters in the sense that there's a better way to do it, which will improve picture quality. Instead of changing the in-game resolution, I suggest you keep it at the native monitor resolution. Then, adjust the render scale to less than 100%, around 55% if you want the game to render at 1080p. What this does is that the game will render at a lower resolution and then scaled up with a fancy algorithm to look reasonable. You can then also play with the AMD shaperpening slider in the game (available on all vendor cards, not just AMD). If you want to try it, you can also use the DX12 beta version of the game, which will enable the AMD FSR option (available on nVidia cards too). In my experience it looks better than the render scaling setting, but the DX12 beta can be less stable. FYI, if you want to try this, the setting is under the Anti-Aliasing settings IF you enable the DX12 Beta. If you have an RTX GPU, you can try DLSS too. Out of curiosity, what are your system specs?
  3. Based on the polling, I'm surprised so few people own the standard version. Most people jumped for the Premium Deluxe. Why is that? Is it a case of wanting a specific aircraft or airport, or more of 'what the hell, why not' situation? If you had to give someone advice on which version to buy, what would your advice be? I'm thinking, with all the aircraft that's been added to all versions, and the modding community hitting its stride, that 95% of people would be perfectly happy with the standard. One can then simply download a freeware or payware aircraft/airport that you really want.
  4. Ha, nice. I've been doing the same my whole life. Just about getting by with what's cheap - usually buying used. But hunting for bargains van be a lot of fun. Ive always enjoyed optimising the use of my budget as much as possible. I bought a used mining gpu of aliexpress for a reasonable price. It's a halluva upgrade, but now my system is hilariously unbalanced.
  5. I'm quite limited on disk space, so I've done about the same. But I kept the planes that's used for traffic like the airliners and private jets, even though I only fly GA. But the liveries are in the trash, since I use FSLTL.
  6. I was wondering this the other day. My guess is that most people bought either the least expensive or most expensive version. I only bought the Deluxe version simply for the enhanced Cape Town International airport, and the steam gauge 172. If it weren't for that, I'd have bought the Standard version, since, well it's a lot of money extra for stuff that I probably won't use. I'm reasonably happy with my choice, since I visit Cape Town fairly frequently in the game and also have other scenery and airports in the area as well. I don't fly the any version of the 172 much these days however. But if I do, I usually go for the steam gauge one. What about you? Which one did you get, why, and are you still satisfied with the purchase?
  7. That's just disgusting. On DX12, Halifax Stanfield (3rd party version) does the same to me. But in that case, the problem is obvious: A bug in the DX12 implimentation of the game tries to allocate something like 7 GB of video memory to a 6 GB card. In fact, all detailed airports do that, but it's especially bad at CYHZ. Though I think you mentioned that you're using DX11, so obviously not the same bug. Hope it gets resolved, pronto.
  8. That's rough, so both the CPU and GPU a struggling. Did it make any difference when you switched off Vsync and the framerate limiter? Random thought, is xmp enabled on your system? If your memory is heavily used, it could set you back a bit if xmp isn't enabled. How is your performance affected when doing this flight with the Vanilla A320? What other mods are you using?
  9. I would think you should get more FPS than that, but I usually stick to G/A planes. One help is the FPS counter in developer mode, which also indicates the current bottleneck in your system. It's normally either "GPU Limited" or "Mainthread Limited". So I would suggest, just as a test, to turn off both Vsync (which I know was broken at some point) and the framerate limit. Then do your flight with developer mode on and enable the FPS display. Depending on whether it shows "GPU Limited" or "Mainthread Limited", we'll know where the bottleneck is.
  10. As far as I know, the pre-set options are the only settings available. If you're preference isn't one of those, you're out of luck. Maybe someone else knows of a file you can manually edit, or something...
  11. Thing is, I think that will just stop the plane from getting damaged. Not actually stop the warning bells.
  12. Fly slower or higher. Other than that, I don't know. :p
  13. For better or worse, most of them have glass cockpits. You learn to live with it...
  14. Well, fair enough. That's pretty cool and I had no idea this existed! You learn something new every day, I guess...
  15. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that running the sim, synchronised, on two PCs is just not possible. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but the way the OP was phrased seems to presume that it is possible and that he'd just like to know how to do it. If that's how the OP was meant to be interpreted, someone gave you very bad information! As others have said, you might be able to get more displays using two GPUs, but I think the chances of that working is minimal, at best. Intuitively, I would think that something like SLI would be required to ensure the GPUs are synchronised, but I'm not sure. SLI is anyway not implimented in MSFS. Sorry for taking a dump on your idea, but I think you should keep expectations nice and low.
  16. Here you go: https://flightsim.to/file/17656/a-guide-to-msfs-scenery-creation I dabbled a bit myself, but found I didn't have the time to really commit to it - that's what a toddler and a newborn does to a man's free time.
  17. Are you using any mods? If so, try removing them and see if it helps. If it does, add them back one-by-one.
  18. Wow, I didn't know that ufo's exist in MSFS. I've never seen one myself.
  19. Ha, oh ok then. Reminds me of this quote. "I've never been wrong. Except that one time where I thought I was wrong, but I was actually right".
  20. Actually, I don't think my suggestion fixed it. It was just coincidence. I just saw the below message on the forums. Still, I'm glad for Jesse that it's now fixed. "Hello everyone, We are aware of reports from some players experiencing an error when attempting to install MSFS on PC. The error states “You are missing packages that are essential to run Microsoft Flight Simulator. Please update the application and try again.” We have escalated this to the appropriate support team, and they are currently investigating. We will provide more information when it is available. Thank you for your patience as we work to get this resolved. MSFS Team"
  21. It did?! Wow, I didn't think that would work, to be honest. I'm happy it worked for you!
  22. Oof, you may be stuck if it's a MS-side problem. Out of interest, what are your system specifications? It ought not make a difference, but if you've nothing else to do, install the sim in the default directory (if it isn't already) and temporarily remove the the anti-virus. Then try again. Like I said, it ought not make a difference. But you can’t get an ought from an is, as they say... Because you've tried a bunch of things already, the nuclear option would be to reinstall windows, then install the video drivers, then the sim, and the other programs (including the anti-virus). I hate doing it, but it should eliminate 98% (don't fact check me) of user-side software related issues.
  23. I agree with the others that 50 isn't bad at all. But just for fun, enable developer options then also enable the FPS counter. Just below the big FPS display, it should say something like "GPU limited" or "Mainthread limited" (normally either of those). Give us a screenshot of that. Also tell us the following: - What aircraft you're flying and where you're flying. A cessna 172 over Manitoba will give a MUCH different result than a 787 over London. - Any mods that you use
  24. Hi Jesse, We're all here to help a fellow enthusiast, so perhaps a home visit is not necesarry or even advisable. So what's the problem exactly? Something to keep in mind: As you've probably discovered by now, this sim works completely differently to the previous sims. It's best to make peace with that fact and not assume anything will work the same or be in the same place. I made this analogy in a previous thread: This sim is as different from FSX/FS2004 as Windows 10 is from Vista, since they're from the same respective eras.
