  1. Is there a practical reason to use the GPS 500 MAP page rather than the Default NAV page? Is it just preference? Would I be right to think nearly everyone uses the Default NAV page?
  2. Thank you gentlemen for your advice.
  3. I have my hat switch on my CH Eclipse yoke for View (Pan) and I am able to look around; however, it stays where I last looked and I have to fumble around trying to get it to look forward again. Is there a way to make the view look forward center quickly? Especially when I'm looking back waiting for the 45 deg angle on pattern approach.
  4. Thank you once again Larry and Mallcott. Excellent responses to my question and makes it all understandable. I actually have A2A but couldn't cold start it using their instructions. Also more difficult to fly. I understand that is because it is more realistic but thought the default would be easier to learn on then go to A2A. I think I'm about ready now though. It is interesting that trimming is a nuisance for simmers. Thanks once again gentlemen.
  5. Thank you Larry (Top Gun) for suggesting I purchase the book Stick and Rudder. Only now am I learning how to fly by understanding rather than trial and error. Every new pilot should read and understand this book early on. It is a confidence builder. Having said that, I am flying the practice flights in the book one of which is stalling--increasing the angle of attack until there is no more lift on the wing, and the plane is supposed to drop, not descend. I fly the Cessna 172 Skylark that comes with FSX--and it won't stall. I fly straight and level at 3000' at 2300 rpm's and 0 deg attitude, then reduce rpm's gradually trying to maintain altitude: 2300 rpms -- 98 knots 2000 rpm's --80 knots 1700 rpm's -- 60 knots 1500 rpm's -- Still 60 knots but descending 250 ft/min 1400 rpm's -- 60 knots, 300 ft/min 1200 rpm's -- 60 knots, 500 ft/min Cut to Idle Power still keeping full back on yoke -- Descending 700+ ft / min BUT DESCENDING NOT DROPPING. Every once in awhile the nose will move down a bit like it wants to stall, but the additional small amount of speed pulls the nose back up and no stall. Now I'm thinking when I round out landing I'm not stalling but descending onto the runway. What do you guys think?
  6. Update! I removed the Trim Wheel usb connector from my powered usb hub and plugged it into the computer and what a remarkable fix, not only for my trim wheel but also for the other controls plugged into the hub. Smooth flying and landings. I wish I had known about this simple fix years ago. Thanks again guys for your advice which I was saving for last because of my sad lack of computer skills and fear of FSUIPC &c. Now I can concentrate on navigation and of doing add-on scenery which I know I'll screw up.
  7. Well, I've learned another thing here--I ain't never gonna uninstall FSX. Wait a minute. I have Steam FSX so I guess I'll never have to uninstall it? One of you FSX/Computer experts should moonlight by going on Team Viewer or such and going through all the files and locations fixing stuff and calibrating controllers. If it weren't too much I bet a lot of people would hire you. Let me know if you do.
  8. Thank you, Mark. Should I look for a motorized trim wheel and would it be easy to install?
  9. I spin my Saitek trim wheel while still on the ground in trying to prevent violent pitching when I touch it while flying but it still causes the violent pitching anyway when first touched. After this first pitching it works sorta ok for awhile. If time goes by and I touch it again the same thing happens. I have full sensitivity and no null. Can't pitch for speed on an approach. Is it fixable? Also, can I rig my CH Eclipse yoke with a trim wheel? I know the wheel on the yoke doesn't do anything. How about the paddles on either side of the yoke handles. Does the CH trim wheel work better. I hate to have to use computer keys.
  10. Has anyone ever put together all the Learning Center articles into a single book?
  11. Thank you guys for your replies.
  12. Do I need approach plates c.2010 to fly FSX? If so, where may I find them?
  13. Thank you, Gentlemen. I appreciate your replies.
  14. Can I use WAAS channels on my approach plate with my stock Glass Cockpit G1000?
  15. Thank you, Tim. If I resolve the problem I'll post the solution here for others who may have the problem in the future.
  16. I can't bring up the Page Groups on my G-1000. Even when I hold the "Clear" button the Nav group doesn't come up. I want to practice moving from page group to page group and then page to page. I see the FMS group and page - & + and cursor. Only the Transponder and time is visible. s
  17. Thank you, Mark. Your solution worked. I recall being able to drag the window without docking/undocking but your solution works too.
  18. I've returned to FSX after a hiatus. I use two screens. I can move the FSX window from one screen to another by dragging but can't drag a New View over to the other screen. I used to be able to drag a multi-function GPS-1000 new view over to the other screen so I could see both the Primary and Multi at the same time. Any ideas?
  19. For those whose budget won't allow spending the amounts suggested earlier I have a different plan: the Super Amazon All Inclusive Flight Simulator would work this way: you give Amazon your credit card and then fly your sims to your heart's content and pay only a penny per minute.
  20. Some idea of the potential market must exist for a new flight simulator program such as the one you propose. To get a return on investment the selling price would have to cover the development costs, expenses, and profit. I'm thinking that the most that could be charged for the program out of the box is $500 or not enough users could afford it. But let's say you downloaded the program as an annual subscription--what then? Would there be enough subscribers at $50/year? $100? How much would you be willing to pay for a subscription for Amarmlhas' Flight Sim? How about a 5 year subscription with automatic payments? If we're dreaming then how about a deep pockets company creating the program, manufacturing all the flight controls to perfectly match their programming, create add-ons, and to have a "Geek Squad" option available to remote help anytime you needed it? All inclusive, all guaranteed. Now, there is a dream for ya.
