  1. Well 'NathanielM', I have been using aircraft from both Posky and PA for years, and have never had the issues you mention. In fact, I would say that these two freeware developers, as well as many others like Manfred Jahn, Milton Shupe, etc have kept me in the hobby. Those of us who 'delve' into freeware actually don't deserve anything. We benefit from someone taking the time to create things and provide it to us free of charge.
  2. Are you trying multiple packages at once or just one at a time? I run into this quite often, mainly when trying to install multiple packages. When I right click on the WOAI Installer.exe and select "run as administrator" it sometimes helps, but not always. Sometimes I just install one or two at a time. Tedious but works
  3. here is the link for the Quad City Challenger, been using it for ages. Also an FSX version for those who double dip. http://www.bobholland.com/fs/aircraft.htm
  4. Really enjoying your posts, the subject matter has been an obsession since reading 'Chariot of the Gods' as a kid.
  5. I will check out Rupp tomorrow. I flew over Lexington as I left KLEX headed to Louisville, Lexington is not all that impressive in real life as far as cities go, about the same in game. Kroger field wasn't modeled, but I think it was on my way to Louisville that I bumped it up from Medium to Ultra. UofLs stadium was modeled.
  6. Got some time with the new sim on my sons PC(started his first job today, left his PC unguarded). It's not a newer rig, maybe 2yrs old or close to it. I thought I would try Ultra setting. Was getting around 30FPS around Louisville, higher out and about in the Bluegrass state.
  7. I wonder if some people are just frustrated they can't jump on the new sim bandwagon, due to money, or not having the PC power. I still use FS9 primarily, but recently have tweaked FSX:SE to get some playable FPS and am using it a bit more. Eventually I will have a PC that will run MSFS and also allow me to fully enjoy FSX and X-Plane, the latter I don't own yet but plan to buy. There is between these 3 sims a ton of things to enjoy. I'm rooting for Asobo to get MSFS up to snuff and look forward to all the positives these sims have to offer. And really, other than the small cross section of simmers who actually post here, most people are flying whatever sim works for them and having fun. People still use FS2002.
  8. I've read both pages of this thread and this is all Lavochkin said about his VA "I own a small VA. I started my VA for my personal flight records. Not to see how many pilots I could hire. My VA is about flying airplanes, not a social event. I have no forums, teamspeak, discord. If you do not like the way I run my VA. Leave, resign, go away. " I went to the link to his VA he provided and there was no 'ideology' requirement to join. So, not sure what Luke is talking about. JSMR is the one who hijacked this thread by taking it political. If someone is triggered by an avatar, PM the member and discuss it there. Stay on topic.
  9. Thank you Zoom! Always happy for a new destination in the beautiful Philippines. And a new scenery for FS9.
  10. You make some good points. I've always run my own personal airline within flight sim. Liveries, route structure, the works. I will take ADE and turn an area of an airport into my airlines parking area. It works for me because I am more of a casual flight simmer. I've been a member of a VA, but quickly realized it wasn't for me. Nothing wrong with the VA, just not my thing. But, I fully support choices, and encourage people to join/start VAs. Just like with other forms of entertainment, I skip what doesn't work for me.
  11. I wonder how the real world stuff is handled? Does the in-game ATC interact at all or does it leave the real world stuff alone and only talk to user aircraft?
  12. I'm amazed when I look at all the videos of this new sim, it blows everything else away. The default stuff I have seen may not be as accurate as a handcrafted/add-on airport or area, but it is light years beyond the default/auto-gen of FS9/FSX/Prepar3D/X-Plane. Since I haven't been to most areas/airports of the world, odds are I am not likely to notice things that aren't exact. Sure, I may notice the occasional missing famous landmark like a bridge in Sydney. I visited there in the Navy so I will look for that sort of thing. I trust these things will be added/fixed down the road, officially or unofficially. I'm still flying FS9, and occasionally FSX. I'm a casual flyer/user, but still use the heck out of add-ons to try to ramp up the realism with aircraft, and immersion with scenery. But with all the extras, neither come anywhere near what I am seeing with just simply the basic, $60 version of 2020. I can say with confidence that the $60 version is all I would ever need. I will buy planes, but as for scenery, I would be more inclined to look at the odd stuff like a Kai Tak add-on if it were to be made. Otherwise, whats included in the base model is amazing. In fact, if out of the gate they had only offered the basic version for say $100, I wouldn't be able to open my wallet fast enough.
  13. Default AI has to travel in packs to protect themselves from Add-on AI.
  14. Holy cow! Thanks guys for this. Not sure how I haven't flown this before but what a great plane, panel, paint combo.
  15. I look forward to the new sim, and hopefully having(eventually) a PC to run it, which also means I will be able to run X-Plane, which I can't do now. I can barely run FSX on my old reliable. But that being said, FS9 won't be going away, for me anyway, anytime soon. I don't know if there will ever be an opportunity with the newer sims to accomplish the above, but a big thank you to all those folks in this community(like 9Dragons, CalClassic, Manfred Jahns, Milton Shupe, etc.) who have made it possible for the nostalgic person like me to be John Wayne from the High and Mighty, fly The Hump in a C47, or drop off some military advisors in Saigon(no idea what they are up to).
  16. If you download the free MyTraffic 2006, it has a huge folder called my world or something that has a ton of afcads in it. Cant vouch for the quality of all of them but they do seem to help. If i later install an addon scenery for an airport, i just remove that afcad from the MyWorld folder to avoid duplicates.
  17. Good to hear you have another backup. I have a fresh install as a backup on an external drive. I love VOZ, but not really interested in the textures. I just install it and add it to my scenery library, but skip switching out the ground textures. Lots of great airport improvements. There is a great "Unofficial Scenery Guide" in the library....search file name vozguide.zip
  18. Voz has an UnVOZ option, have you tried that yet?
  19. I love VOZ, have it installed now. I don't actually use the textures, I just use it for the airports. But it is a must have for me as I populate my FS9 world with anything that improves the default, and VOZ is a HUGE improvement.
  20. Loved this!! Thanks for your work and the entertainment you provided me this evening. I subscribed and look forward to following you.
  21. Was this the file from 2012 "fs9_kday2012_v1.zip"
