I was never a big payware guy, so it's nice when we can catch the free releases. Also nice when you stumble across nice freeware that you've never seen before.

Im sure we all are aware, but for any new users popping in, FSUIPC for FS9 is now free, but no longer supported as per their website. http://www.fsuipc.com/

I just pulled the trigger, so far very nice. Purchased both Airbus and 777, basically $25US. Once purchased you click return to merchant, something like that, and it's the download page. A link to your planes and a serial beneath...simple install. Saved the install files to my external with all my other FS junk, and put serials in a txt file. I only fired up both to take a peek, 777 seems higher quality in the VC, but both still look fantastic.

Someone mentioned them in a post, and i was curious about them. I've only ever bought 2 payware planes, the Carenado Beech V35 and the Captainsim 757. Im looking at the 777 and A320, which are nicely priced right now. Are they a good buy, how is the company and is the activation a pain. The Captainsim took a couple days to activate. Edit:I see they are called Black Box now.

I remember a couple years ago after a hiatus, when I returned to FS9, I had this same issue, and had to do the whole start as administrator, and may have even had to tinker with the compatibility. Many reinstalls and multiple installs of FS9 later and I haven't had this issue in a while. I think the only thing that has changed is along the way I did do a reinstall of Win7 and haven't had any issues since. I use a lot of older games and programs, so I am always tweaking things, messing with drivers, etc. Never really figured out what it was, but I am pretty sure it was related to windows and not another program.

On a side note, in regards to MyTraffic2006, install it to a temp folder then copy the modules folder over to your preferred FS9 install and you get the very fun Traffic Toolbox

Have you tried it yet pilotposer? I am going to give it a go myself on an extra install of FS9, will report back.

One of the great things about GW3 is the era didn't have the most advanced/complicated airports. If a person has ADE or instant scenery, they could build some nifty little airfields with vintage objects and set up their own traffic. I'm not much for flights over more than an hour or two, so I'm getting ready to set up a few airfields in and around KY, dipping slightly into IN, IL, WV, TN, OH, and MO. Trying to keep it pre 1940. FS9=Flight sim sandbox

Using Pale Moon here, great browser. FS9 isn't dead nor will it go anywhere soon. With FS2002 still hanging on, I think we will see a similar longevity to FS9. And likely longer. Lets say you were going to introduce someone to flight sim who was hardware challenged, wasn't going to want to join the tweak fest that is FSX, has an interest in commercial flying, or all the above. You can make FS9 look great, with sweeping addons like the now free UK2000, VOZ(Australia), and NL2000(Netherlands). Also all the scenery improvements like HD water and clouds, ground textures, etc. Tons of freeware airports from FRF, Mach1DG, Gregory Putz, etc and so on. And for the time travelers like me, CalClassic, 9Dragons, and HJG. A lot of the payware thats still available is affordable also. So flying an iFly 737 from a FlyTampa scenery to an Imaginesim scenery is quite an immersive thing. Especially with a load of WOAI traffic. I enjoy flight sims, and will use whichever ones my PC allows me to use. No law says we have to use one. Usage of FS9 will dip over time, but I actually don't need an audience to enjoy it. I still use old games all the time that I have no idea if anyone else plays. Rogue Spear/Urban Ops, Civ 3, BF1942, MVP2005, Tiberian Sun, etc.

I fully endorse and second(Hear Hear!!)the praise of Milton and the others who bring the old planes to life. And I had overlooked the Mallard, which is my new time killer. Sure, it's no MSFS2020, but a little tlc and a great scenery(CYVR by JONATHAN GABBERT)makes for a nice flight around Vancouver.
