Only thing I can see that's missing is a small blade-shaped antenna that is usually somewhere along the top ridge of the fuselage.

Phrog and Mr. Z thanks for looking.  It probably would have helped if I had added "Can be seen from miles away."  I'm referring to the 4 trails of gray/brown engine exhaust from the D-501/T-56 engines, a visual dead ID giveaway in the RW airplanes.  It was modeled in FSX but didn't carry over in the FS2020 conversion.

  2. Here's the first in an occasional series of short video clips of passenger views landing at various interesting airports around the world.  In this case, an Air Portugal (TAP) A320 is landing on Pico Island in the Azores with its famous cone-shaped volcano in the background.  The airplane is the stock MSFS A320 and the scenery is the new updated ETM9 9-meter mesh for the Azores.

Seat backs upright, seatbelts fastened, and tray tables in the upright position, please.

  3. One of the great things about flight simming is the ability to recreate RW flights from our past.  The major upgrade in accurate worldwide scenery in FS2020 has provided a significant improvement in this area.  Your interesting story and comparison of RW/FS shots are excellent examples.

For another example see my "P3C Departing Lajes AB" in the videos section.  This is a flight I have made many times in the RW and the aircraft out-the-window visuals and FS scenery in the video are virtually identical to the RW.

  4. Thanks, Phrog.  FS2020 has done a reasonably decent job displaying most atmospheric effects including weather and lighting. Still, so far (IMHO) no flight sim has ever accurately depicted convective weather.  That and ATC remain big areas for improvement.

  5. Here's another short clip from our wing view seat in a Delta B767-300 landing at Miami International (KMIA).  We pick up the action as the aircraft is on final to Runway 30.  At the beginning, you can make out Key Largo in the distance under the winglet as the aircraft flies over the dense residential areas of south Miami.

This is a good demo of the realistic graphics effects in FS2020.

  6. In this short wing view clip, a Delta 737-800 makes a sunrise takeoff from Fort Lauderdale (KFLL) airport over cruise ships, city lights,  downtown buildings, pink clouds, and climbs into a waning full moon in today's RW weather and sky conditions.
