Extra credit question for Electra and P3 peeps: What distinctive inflight visual feature, common to both airplanes, is missing from these shots?

Great to see you back Aharon! Interesting narrative and well-photographed flight + really like the Royal Mail livery.

Really interesting stuff. Thanks, Proles and JK!

nice shots, I may have to look for this model, always interested in obscure warbirds
Thanks, JK - here it is: https://flightsim.to/file/53329/douglas-tbd-devastator

Bill, These pics are great. A wonderful aircraft that often does not get the recognition it deserves. And I especially like the early war light blue.
Thanks, Phrog

Love the add, and the one point "Congenial Starlight Lounge."
I suspect travel to and from the Starlight Lounge in the aft cabin probably required some frequent retrimming!

Nice ad Phrog. Interesting how the people in the ads are dressed for travel in a more genteel age. Men in suits and ties and women in nice dresses whether for business or pleasure - not today's grunge tee shirts and shorts. The stewardess and women passenger's high heels might have been a little tricky in an emergency evac though

Awesome stuff. Were these in the vicinity of an airfield?

Here's the first in an occasional series of short video clips of passenger views landing at various interesting airports around the world. In this case, an Air Portugal (TAP) A320 is landing on Pico Island in the Azores with its famous cone-shaped volcano in the background. The airplane is the stock MSFS A320 and the scenery is the new updated ETM9 9-meter mesh for the Azores.
Seat backs upright, seatbelts fastened, and tray tables in the upright position, please.

One of the great things about flight simming is the ability to recreate RW flights from our past. The major upgrade in accurate worldwide scenery in FS2020 has provided a significant improvement in this area. Your interesting story and comparison of RW/FS shots are excellent examples.
For another example see my "P3C Departing Lajes AB" in the videos section. This is a flight I have made many times in the RW and the aircraft out-the-window visuals and FS scenery in the video are virtually identical to the RW.

Nice shot Phrog - straight out of "Flight of the Intruder"- a great movie.

Thanks, Darren!

Thanks, Phrog. FS2020 has done a reasonably decent job displaying most atmospheric effects including weather and lighting. Still, so far (IMHO) no flight sim has ever accurately depicted convective weather. That and ATC remain big areas for improvement.

A Finnair A321 makes a rainy takeoff from Kastrup Airport in Copenhagen, Denmark in today's RW weather.

Sounds like a "must-see" event Michael!

Here are a couple of short FS2020 eye candy clips of a British Airways A318 "Baby Bus" landing at London Heathrow Airport (EGLL) and taxiing to the gate.

Here's another short clip from our wing view seat in a Delta B767-300 landing at Miami International (KMIA). We pick up the action as the aircraft is on final to Runway 30. At the beginning, you can make out Key Largo in the distance under the winglet as the aircraft flies over the dense residential areas of south Miami.
This is a good demo of the realistic graphics effects in FS2020.

Thanks Darren and Phrog

In this short wing view clip, a Delta 737-800 makes a sunrise takeoff from Fort Lauderdale (KFLL) airport over cruise ships, city lights, downtown buildings, pink clouds, and climbs into a waning full moon in today's RW weather and sky conditions.

Phrog and Mr. Z thanks for looking. It probably would have helped if I had added "Can be seen from miles away." I'm referring to the 4 trails of gray/brown engine exhaust from the D-501/T-56 engines, a visual dead ID giveaway in the RW airplanes. It was modeled in FSX but didn't carry over in the FS2020 conversion.
