  1. Nice job on that approach David. I like the weather, the Jax to Corpus fight routing, and especially the Delta Connection CRJ - one of my favorites. An unbeatable combination :pilot:
  2. In this series we do a flyby of the famous Rock of Gibraltar at the entrance to the Mediterranean Sea to check out the FS2020 scenery. One thing that's missing here is the shipping traffic through this area which is one of the busiest shipping areas in the world. Our FS2020 AI ship & ferry traffic is set to 100% so an empty sea seems to indicate there's still some development work to do here. Our Navy P3C Orion from Patrol Squadron 62 (VP-62) takes off from Rota Naval Station (LERT) in Southwestern Spain. The harbor entrance to the ancient seaport of Cadiz is visible in the upper right. Enroute on the very short cruise segment down to the Mediterranean Sea entrance. Letting down from cruise with the entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar in the distance. The coast of Spain in Europe is on the left and Morocco in Africa on the right. Heading down the middle of the Strait. At its narrowest point the distance between Spain and Morocco is only 8 miles. Inside the strait the distinctive profile of Gibraltar comes into view. Turning inbound for our flyby The aptly named "Rock." Outbound for our return to Rota. On the way home we pass Cape Trafalgar - scene of the famous 1805 naval battle in which British Admiral Nelson defeated Napoleon's combined French and Spanish fleets.
  3. Nice paint on a classic bird. "You can trust your car to the man who wears the star!" Those were the days!!
  4. Yes - as I remember it was just the U.S. Besides the realistic ATC the thing I remember about it was the 737 had a working HSI on the panel which I don't think the FS airplanes had at the time.
  5. Thanks Bob, Larry, James & John. Bob - I honestly don't know how the AI Alaska birds (there are actually 2 parked at the terminal) showed up. It wasn't anything I did. I've got real world air traffic checked and Alaska is one of my community A320 liveries so it may be the program checks to see if there are any liveries for RW A320 flights to the airport and puts them in. Just guessing here. Somebody smarter than me probably knows the answer! :D:D:D
  6. Very impressive shots of FS2020 clouds, rain, and rainbow effects :cool::cool:
  7. Great shots of the boneyard and an awesome RW and sim aircraft. I still remember about 10 years ago when 2 Georgia Air National Guard F-15s made a section takeoff with full afterburners while our aircraft was holding short for the runway. Shook the whole plane! Here's some info on Mach Loop Canyon: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_Canyon_(California) I think there's also a similar place in the UK
  8. Those were the days Chris! In my opinion subLogic's best title was not FS but "Flight Assignment: ATP." It had the most realistic ATC of any simulator to date bar none! Somewhere in the basement I still have the Manual.
  9. Here are some shots of an Air Jamaica A320neo landing on a sunny Caribbean day at Sangster International Airport (MKJS) in Montego Bay, Jamaica after a flight from Miami (KMIA). Turning final and lined up for Runway 07 On glideslope Touchdown with spoilers and thrust reversers deployed Turning off the active and heading for the gate A marshaler directs us to parking and the gate connects to offload our passengers. Welcome to Jamaica Mon!
  10. Here you go: https://flightsim.to/file/6559/add-copilot-to-cockpit
  11. A pretty nifty improvement in graphics and overall cockpit ambiance. Now what would be really cool is if someone can take this a step further and develop animation and the ability to execute checklists/switch actions like the copilot versions available in XP11! The XP11 avatar graphics are not as well developed as these are. Here's the same dude in the CJ4
  12. Update - these aren't "new" avatars - apparently they're the stock figures converted to show up in interior cockpit views
  13. Here are some shots of a new copilot figure that can be added to FS2020 cockpits. I haven't tried other aircraft but I think there are several other versions including female pilots depending on what aircraft you choose. This is who appears in the 747. While he doesn't do anything except look around (at least not yet) it's still kind of nice to be able to see something other than an empty cockpit! I think it adds a bit of realism and maybe some company on those long lonely trans Atlantic flights!! :D
  14. Very nice series Chris :cool::cool: - and I agree - the Working Title mod makes all the difference in this bird
  15. In this MSFS2020 series an Air California Lockheed L188 Electra II makes a late afternoon approach into Lake Tahoe Airport (KTVL). KTVL was a popular Air California destination during the mid to late 70's. Because of its high field elevation (6280 ft. AMSL) and hazardous location down in a canyon surrounded by mountains the airport had banned jet passenger traffic. Ability to operate from high field elevations, lower operating speeds, excellent maneuverability and instant power response combined with high passenger capacity made the Electra a good substitute. Letting down over Lake Tahoe. The arrow shows the airport location among high mountains at the south end of the lake. Over the lake and established on the approach Passenger view Short final and touchdown A real world Air California Electra landing at KTVL
  16. Not too many of us who remember it - or the USSR - or the Beatles for that matter! :D:D:D Thanks for looking guys
  17. Very interesting & cool Aharon! There's a lot of life left in FSX yet! Although I'm pretty much 100% on MSFS2020 now I do go back to FSX to fly some of my favorite airplanes that won't fully convert to FS2020. See my "Back in the USSR" IL-18 post as an example.
  18. Flew in from Miami Beach BOAC Didn't get to bed last night On the way the paper bag was on my knee Man I had an awful flight I'm back in the U.S.S.R You don't know how lucky you are boy Back in the U.S. Back in the U.S. Back in the U.S.S.R The Beatles Here are some shots of a Soviet U.S.S.R era IL-18 Russian airliner making a late afternoon departure from Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport (UUEE). Designed in the same late 1950's timeframe as the U.S. Lockheed Electra the turboprop IL-18 had a similar appearance and performance characteristics. The IL-18's rugged design soon made it a workhorse of Russian and Eastern European aviation and it remains in service today. This FSX version is in the classic Aeroflot blue and white paint scheme with the winged hammer and sickle logo. The modern Russian flag on the tail, however, shows it to be a post Soviet era airplane.
  19. Very nice series of this classic David. As it happens I'm heading to Savannah RW a bit later today but on I95 - unfortunately not on airways where there's a lot less traffic!:D! :D
  20. A very nice series and interesting narrative. And since you asked :D - I have been to Adak!! It was back in the day when it was a Naval Air Facility and was a refueling stop coming back to the U.S. from Japan.
  21. Here are some shots marking the 63rd anniversary of the first test flight of the Lockheed L188 Electra II turboprop airliner on December 6, 1957. Although the Electra never achieved the commercial success it deserved for a very brief period of time its turboprop design bridged the gap between the era of pure piston powered airliners and the emerging aircraft of the new age of jet travel represented by the Boeing 707, Douglas DC-8, and Convair CV880/990 pure jets. In this series we pick up the test aircraft on the return part of its flight back to the Lockheed facility at Burbank Airport (KBUR) in California after finishing basic handling and landing approach tests over the Pacific and at the Navy auxiliary airfield on San Clemente Island (KNUC). The aircraft in these shots is the Team FS KBT L188 for FSX converted over toMSFS2020. Heading back to home base at Lockheed Burbank. In the near background we can see Catalina Island and in the distance behind it San Clemente Island. The Naval Auxiliary airfield is located on the extreme right hand tip of that island from this viewpoint. The #1 and #2 Allison 501-D turboprop engines. Each rated at 3750 shaft horsepower the Electra's 4 powerful engines provided it with instant "climb away from problems" response and outstanding overall maneuvering ability. Underneath the #1 engine in this shot sharp eyed viewers will be able to pick out the famous "Airport in the Sky" on Catalina Island. Turning inbound for KBUR over the coast. Californians will recognize Marina del Rey in the background. Descending, gear down, and lined up for landing. Passing the heavily populated areas surrounding Burbank Airport. Rolling out at homeplate after a successful first flight.
  22. An awesome series Chris - really shows off FS2020's advances in scenery and weather
  23. Great trip David. Especially liked the view of Lake Tahoe and snowy approach into Reno :cool::cool:
