  1. I've had no download issues here. Using Firefox, with ublock, Ghostery, Noscript, and Privacy Badger running.
  2. A brief sojourn at Derby to take in the sights (https://www.kimberleyaustralia.com/derby.html) and I'm off to Onslow (or maybe I'm just off). Course change at the RAAF Base Curtin VOR, 20mi SE of Derby Curtin Derby is one of the RAAF "bare bases" with only a maintenance staff stationed there during peacetime Another ocean excursion for over a hundred miles Next course change, the VOR at Port Hedland, which has the highest tonnage port in Australia. It was also the site of the third worst accident in Australia's civil aviation history. Continuing along the coast To the next waypoint, YPKA, Karatha. Constructed in 1966 as a private facility for an iron mining corporation, it was eventually taken over by the regional government and upgraded, it can now handle aircraft as large as C-17 and An-124. And there is Onslow, but since I had plenty of fuel I decided to continue to RAAF Base Learmonth, another "bare base" only 70 miles farther. RAAF Learmonth on the coast That Lear got out of the way just in time (maybe they heard I was coming) YPLM And the Cessna pilot waited for me to park No idea what this is but I slewed over for a look 750 miles in 3hrs 41min. Jandikot is only 725mi away, though the flight will probably be around 800 miles, still within non-stop range of this old Beech.
  3. Modern browsers have many paranoid security measures that can block perfectly safe files - a date discrepancy between your computer and the server, an expired or misread certificate, a reported file size that doesn't match the download, etc. Firefox, and the d/l manager I use, give options to download/accept the file anyway. Possibly those folks behind the screen have tweaked something which now causes this; we're still waiting for file searches to behave and links from other sites to stop reporting "oops, we can't find that".
  4. Well, younger folk naturally gravitate to the "latest, greatest"; flightsim.to is only a few years old, flightsim.com is over 25 now (I joined in '98 and it was well established then). And people creating new files will naturally upload to the site they use most. But many newcomers to flightsim, especially MSFS, will fly around for a few months, tire of it, and move on; the ones that stay will eventually find the older sites/forums.
  5. I wasn't counting but that's about how many hearts I had clicked. I hope we don't need to ration our responses, that would mean ranking posts - "Do I want to click this one or that one?"
  6. The insanity continues, as I depart Darwin ...in a crosswind, of course Soon I am again over the ocean, for another hundred miles And back over land, the nearest "airport" is the Forest River Mission Airport, YFRV, forty miles south at the poor little community of Oombulgurri (a sad history - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oombulgurri_Community,_Western_Australia) ; suitable only for light aircraft, and if it has any fuel you'll probably have to pump it from barrels. Halfway now, and this is the view in any direction 150 miles to go, at least a little change in the scenery Twenty miles out, signs of civilization And there is Derby, YDBY; pop 3300, Derby was the terminus of the first scheduled aviation service in Australia, West Australian Airways Ltd. Their service began with their first flight on 5 December 1921, which crashed, near Geraldton. At one time the Perth to Derby service was the world's longest passenger airline route. I'm getting too much experience with crosswinds But the fuel stand was easily found here 597 miles in 2hr 55min. A rest here then off to Onslow, allegedly 630 miles away (but Port Hedland is roughly halfway along the route).
  7. or FN.333 Riviera, designed by Nardi in the fifties, 26 were built in the early sixties by SIAI-Marchetti, mostly for the US market. About a half dozen are still flying; 180kt cruise with a 250hp Continental engine.
  8. Oddly, they were designed as nuclear bombers, though I can find no reference to any of them ever dropping any type of bomb.
  9. Just go to each post and select "quote", it should add them all to one post for you.
  10. Set it in your vid driver rather than in the game.
  11. Guess I'm committed now (it's often been said I should be). Leaving Borroloola 400+ miles of this, Siberia with heat and humidity For some reason IAS and GS nearly identical the entire trip Only course alteration was the VOR at YPTN, first sign of civilization since leaving Borroloola (think it's time to switch textures again) YPTN is RAAF base Tindal near the town of Katherine, pop 6300, home to 75 Squadron Fortunately my 75 year old relic was not seen as a threat as I headed to Darwin And there is YPDN, Darwin; I got lazy and let the ILS take her in At least he waited for me to vacate the runway Must be Beech day here 475 miles in 2 hrs 18 minutes, spent a dozen minutes seeking fuel and gave up, if they have any it's at least two miles away Next stop Derby, YDBY
  12. Wow, that would be an interesting scenery creation (if possible).
  13. Well, while waiting for everyone to catch up (lol, my progress is solely due to being wonderfully, gloriously retired, and not having to deal with RW very often ....not that I ever did, my wife claimed i went from puberty to senility skipping all in between.... and thus have time for FS), I decided to explore what is beyond Cairns; perhaps continue around the continent and return to Jandikot. So I looked west; Darwin is roughly 1000 miles so need an intermediate point. Borroloola it is. (Hadn't planned on posting this.) Leaving Cairns and heading west over the mountains. About halfway there, this is all you see, no towns, airports, roads Till you get to the ocean Mornington Island, the only convenient stop before Borroloola. The "airport" is about 15 miles south. Essentially an Aboriginal and wildlife preserve, with excellent fishing, there are weekly flights from Cairns via Rex Airlines; but no refueling capacity. On to YRBL, Borroloola, barely visible in the background Don't expect much, about 800 people live here Hope that's fuel 635 miles in 3.5 hours, 35 gallons fuel remaining Debating continuing (Darwin - Derby - Onslow - Jandikot), another 2400 miles.
  14. That was my response to him taking off over me, lol.
  15. Sixteen built, none survive (the tail assembly of one is in a museum)
  16. Check the scenery library; also the scenery.cfg may be corrupt.
  17. A reminder to everyone, switch to SE area then, at Brisbane, to NE area.
  18. Normal California weather. Throw in a forest fire and the ever present threat of earthquakes and you've got a wonderful locale.
