  1. Hi. Here is some more info see the Forum here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/apps4av-forum Here is some info: I just tested XP1150b3 Avare 812 Avare IO 404 and some earlier versions of Avare and IO and they all work fine. Start PC and connect WiFi to your service, Start Avare and connect to WiFi, Start Avare send to background (Home key), Start Avare IO and write down the port it uses, Start XP11 and go to Settings>Network>Enable (LClick) iPhone,iPad... select Broadcast to all, and Transmit to a single mapp.... confirm that IP address is the same as the Avare IO, if not change it to the same , Port should be 49002 in both if not change to that. LC on Done and you should see data steaming in the Avare IO, if not something is wrong retrace your steps. Send Avare IO to background (Home key), restart Avare (LC) and you should find yourself at the airport where XP acft is situated. Post here if need more help, or find something out of sequence.
  2. I am sure anything that is not to their liking will be suppressed, as it seems to be happeing with the site posted above. It will be interesting to see what they come up with, but at this point they already have missed some scheduling time, and deviated from what they said it was important, for real pilots. They decided to do multi player and move the IFR portion at some later date, to me that is not the priority that they started with originally. MSFSX had many good things that all they had to do is improve on, and not have to basically start over. I've done some programming in my life, when code had to be very efficient, and from just what I've seen described, assuming they are not just puffing only, there is no Desktop / PC system that I know of that can source that amount of throughput to handle it all. OK, so I am not sure about FS9, I still have it and I think it can be useful, but FSX in 4K, is still what I consider to be the best all around sim presently. With some good updated VFR scenery, update to 64bit, take advantage of some of the existing Video card power and newer technology, some flight dynamic mods, especially in the slow flight regime, this would have been all they needed to do. I hope they prove me wrong.
  3. To get a somewhat useful VR mode in XP1150 Vulkan, if you cannot get acceptable performance with the normal setting, without using any tweaks, try the mods below. The XP settings listed below are a must for the PiMax 8K to be able to make out, read, some of the text on the Instrument panel. System tested on Win 10 64, i7-8700 CPU @ 4.43GHz (12 CPUs), 16GB RAM, DirectX 12, GTX 1070, 8GB, Drv 442.19, FireStorm, GPU Clk Boost 1803 (120) MHz, Mem 4006 MHz, 4K Mode. XP11 settings, Set up an .SIT with Default Scenery,C172 6pack, No AI, Vis 50 SM, No clouds, 2:20 Zulu, KSNA 20R. Settings for brightest colors: Visual High (HDR), Texture>Maximum>AA>4xSSFX, Window mode, FOV 50%, if that does not give you 70+ FPS in VC / 2D or 23+ FPS or more using 3jFPS, in VR, try Visual Medium, Texture>Max, AA>8x, if you cannot get at least the above FPS it's likely that you will Not get a very good experience. PiMax 8k headset using SteamVR. 1-Download and Install 3JFPS in X:\XP11…\Resources\plugins\FlyWithLua\Scripts. If you cannot get an acceptable performance with just 3jFPS you can try to change the vr/use_interleave=0, see below. 2-Download and Install DataRefEditor https://github.com/leecbaker/datareftool/releases and place the Win.xpl into X:\XP11..\Resources\plugins. Start XP go to Menu> Plugins>Data Ref Editor>Show Art Controls, scroll down to vr/use_interleave = 1.0 and change, 2xLClick on it change to 0.000000 and Return. Use Delete viewers to remove the Data refs text from screen. Go into XP11>Settings>Graphics> Enable Vulkan and Restart. At this point you can load your .sit, make sure your VR is On and all set up Software wise, in XP>Settings, VR Hardware>Enable Mouse and VR. While I still get some slideshow with this system when I look under the wing, at the main wheel in 172, it’s somewhat useful, without having to go into the LR extended real time I will try my other, more powerful GTX 1080, 32GB… system at some point but it is not acceptable, as is, without any of the modifications listed above. Both systems worked well without mods in XP1141.

    11.50 Wow!!!!!

Post your computer specs and settings please. In my PC I9 @ 4.7GHz, 32GB RAM and GTX 1080, Visuals HDR and Texture High, 4XAA, Objects Medium, Reflections Minimal, 4K I get 10FPS less, Ortho for the area, with the same settings, than I get in 1141, and my VR is useless just a slide show. The visuals are better, sharper lines and better colors like my Ver 1120 was but the overall performance is much worse. It is my hope that there will be some better code efficiency improvement in the future, but as it is now it is worse, for me at least than 1141.
  5. Hi. I apologize, I am not very good at reading my private Email / Notifications here I expected them to come to my Email directly. Regardless, I am the wrong person to ask about any of the Heavies, you may want to post your question in the Forum. I mainly use it as a tool for GA currency.
  6. It may have something to do with some update that occurred with, or without, your knowledge. See this for help: https://jonsview.com/solution-to-microsoft-flight-simulator-x-side-by-side-error Flight Simulator is looking for an x86 Vicual C++ redistributable library. Download and install: vcredist_x86.exe. Once you have this needed library installed, the side-by-side error for FSX and the Acceleration Expansion Pack should disappear.
  7. Hi. See my post below about the new installation, make sure you have a browser running in the background if you do Internet Activation, unfortunately you will have to reinstall. Before you do that you can save your Gauges, Aircraft, Scenery,... fsx.cfg just for reference on some settings but you will not be able to use it directly. If you can save it all and move / copy the things you added after the old virgin install in your new install. There are some posts here about how to get a new installation but basically you will have to go through that process from the beginning. All this mess just to satisfy someone's thinking that everyone is a thief, just because he was one, I am afraid. I hope the new sim uses a different approach to management, and installation, there is no need for this stuff to be all over creation and cause all these problems, there are better ways to implement copy protection / illegal use.
  8. After about 9 years my HD finally decided to say it got dizzy of all the spinning and wanted to take a break. It was still working but it started developing sector errors and I no longer had confidence in it, and I decided to reinstall Win7 Pro 64… Not a pleasant experience to say the least but after a few hours and more of activation issues, did not like the partitioning, I had all my drivers backed up and installed and got it done. When I tried to run FSX from my old install / SSD it would not run, it asked me activate Acceleration which could not be done without a complete reinstall. My FSX is / was on a separate SSD but because of all the Registry crap I had to reinstall it. I tried to Uninstall from the Control panel but I got an error and I had to remove it manually. I am fairly certain the crooked Billy’s ears were ringing all day, and it would not surprise me if he did not go to see his ENT. I am glad he finally stepped out of the picture. That guy wasted more of my time, and millions of other people, than anyone I know, and would not mind giving him a piece of my mind. Most of the problems were with the activation, what a pain. I got it installed and got an error that it could not activate over internet, after about 3 tries I decided to select Activate later. I tried to execute activate.exe but it did not execute / run. I tried it from Command line, Administrator mode… nothing. I called the activation number 866 740 1256 and after about 20 min I got to a phase where auto activation asked me if I was in an activation screen I responded No, and I got hang up on. My BP is now 270/130, OK slow down, it must be a bad install, erase everything, go in the Registry find everything that had anything to do with the FSX simulator and deleted it, rebooted my system still working and tried it again. This time I installed it in it’s preferred location on C: drive which I did not want to do but tried it anyway. Tried to activate via internet, again, and again and again, I got the same Error cannot be activated over the internet. Reverted back to activate later but the activate.exe would not execute. Called that number again and when I got to the section where I was asked enter the 9 sections by 6 numbers again I entered the numbers that I had saved from my previous install, in the same system, but it tells me its an illegal copy. Looking at my phone I see my forhead veins about double of what they normally are. OK, time to do some of my deep breathing and fast air punching exercises with an imaginary picture in mind. A few seconds later I am ready to try again, many years of TTL and discreet logic troubleshooting will prepare you for this. Did the Control Panel uninstall and it now worked, but it still left of bunch of trash in the Registry and I removed it manually. Re install, on my SSD again, I am now around 6-7 hours into it. Got that done and here comes the Activation again. I start my Firefox and get ready to send a nasty message to MS while I am finishing the install and tried again. I could not believe it, it activated. OK slow down there is one more step, the Acceleration. Reboot, Restart FSX and installed it. I am at the Activation my BP is going up, back to the breathing exercise. I click on the Activate now. Almost instantly, Activation success. I almost passed out, I am too old for this crarp. Now I have to reinstall all my acft., SDK, Scenery……. done that and see some of the results below. Is it all worthed? I do not know. If the MSFS2020 uses the same protection / activation I will not buy it. That would be a first since any of the simulators for PC came out. Message to MS team, STOP using that stupid Registry and Activation, not everyone is a thief like someone we all know. I actually have 2 Gold boxes, one still unopened, see pic., that I purchased at the same time. The moral of this is the MS activation is horrible, and while they say you can get someone live to help, it is not true, the internet activation is flaky at best, and the only ones that are being punished are legitimate customers. Conclusion is that MS wants to have some way of gathering data, like the Firefox running in the background, an Internet connection is not sufficient. There is No live person that I was able to get a hold of, it’s a lie. At some point I will start tracking the information that they are collecting during activation and if I find something that they should not be doing I will report it to the US government security agency. I hope others learn from this, and I also hope that MS changes the way they manage the installation and activation for the next sim. The pics included were captured in the sim in 4K mode and some scenery I generated.
  9. Hi. Here are some more ideas, things you may want to try at some point, if you find them annoying: Note: Save your C172SP folder ..\X-Plane 11\Aircraft\Laminar Research\Cessna 172SP folder and or any other file that you may modify, before you start, in case you want to revert back to original data. 10. Hi. I am glad you are making an effort to fix things by yourself, this will help you in the future. LR's opinion is, and they seem to be very comfortable with it, that they only provide a tool for others to develop and not necessarily a complete finished product. With the new sim from MS their approach may change but for now it is best to learn and try to fix things that you know are not correct. The best thing is to learn how to use the PlaneMaker and make changes to the area that you want. Editing the .acf is only good if you already are familiar with the functions and you can associate them to the proper outcome. I've been using XP from the day of their first built and constantly trying to get them to fix things but there is a lot of complacency, and maybe some arrogance, that stops them from listening to the people that want to help them. Things have gotten a little better but there is still a long way to go before we can get in a sim and "feel" that we can simulate real life behavior. I can list hundreds of issues with just the C172 that are incorrect but I would be satisfied to just get Xwind Ground and landing phase improved. Post here if you need help, or contact me on the private Email. Good luck, and I hope you have a lot of free time to get the results you want.
  11. Hi. The .acf file is very easy to Edit. Save your file, best to save outside on your Desktop? First copy the file you want to edit to the same directory / folder, in Win RightClick on file and LeftClick on Copy, then RightClick on an empty space in the same directory and LeftClick on Paste. Now open the original and edit it. If you do not like it just get your copy back. If you make a mistake that you cannot recover from you can always fix by redownloading and repairing from Inet
  12. Hi. No offense taken, as you can see I agree with you that they are Not working as they should and or replicate Real acft behavior from Real World. My intention was to minimize your frustration and by slowing down that effect is less pronounced the slower you go. The reason why they behave like that is to give you enough control at slow g speed, but it messes things up the faster you go. Here are some things you want to try: Save your C172xxxx.acf and look for these parameters and modify them to get the result closer to what you want. The .acf files are basically text files that can be modified with a text editor. You can also use PlaneMaker to accomplish some of the same things. P acf/_brake_co 1.0 P acf/_no_hydro_force_mult_brakes 1.0 P acf/_brake_to_steer_power 2.0 By using the Response curves you are increasing the dead zone that the controller responds to, that will also affect your Rudder in flight and it may not be something you want / need, but if it works for you don’t fix it. As to Real world flying, using a C172, on a rwy with around 3000 ft and proper technique you should never need to use ground / toe brakes but that is just a side note it does not absolve the developer from fixing the problem and making something that responds in a more realistic fashion. Have fun playing around, try “P acf/_brake_to_steer_power 1.0” and see if it helps and go up from there? If you want to save time in testing and not having to restart XP you can reload the acft form the Menu.
  13. Hi. I am not sure what XP version you have but in the latest versions, around 1136? changes were made to the ground handling and most for the better but some that affect the operation adversely, which is what you experience. Changing the Response curve will mostly affect the the Rudder response and not much the brakes, but it may feel like it does because you have larger Zone (Null) with slower response but as soon as you get past that point you will get the the same effect from the brakes. The Brakes are mostly On or Off, there is way to change that in PlaneMaker and there may be a Dataref that you can use with LUA, but the only way around it, or better said to work with it, is to use the brakes only when you are very slow and low power input, especially with the C172. In real world flying it is recommended that you use the brakes as little as possible, no brakes, and you should try the same in the sim. That said I do think that someone should look into it and get a better response, chances of havin that happen presently are very slim considering that they are behind in their Vulcan and other releases.

Hi. I can tell you that CH Yoke and Pedals, assuming they are the Pro USB work fine in XP11. As I posted earlier you need to POST your log.txt, the OS you have, XP version etc. for better help. Look in your log.txt and see if you find any reference to joy, see below, and look in your ...\XP\Output\preferences look for a file X-Plane Joystick Settings.prf and X-Plane Calibration.prf, they are Text files you can view with any text editors, and see if your hardware is being recognized. If you have Win OS you can also view the controllers in your Control panel. 0:00:23.476 D/HID: Hardware ADDED(06a3, 0836) - Cyborg X at path \\?\hid#vid_06a3&pid_0836#6&1d6eb7a6&0&0000#{4d1e55b2-f16f-11cf-88cb-001111000030} 0:00:23.476 I/JOY: REGISTER Joystick device: Cyborg X - VID:1699PID:2102, this is a familiar device. 0:00:23.476 D/HID: BUTTON Added Index:........ 0:00:23.476 D/HID: Hardware ADDED(068e, 00f2) - CH PRO PEDALS USB at path \\?\hid#vid_068e&pid_00f2#6&13e476fa&0&0000#{4d1e55b2-f16f-11cf-88cb-001111000030} 0:00:23.476 I/JOY: REGISTER Joystick device: CH PRO PEDALS USB - VID:1678PID:242, this is a familiar device. 0:00:23.476 D/HID: .............

  16. Hi Andrew and everyone. One app that many Real life pilots use is Avare, do a search in this forum for other posts, and see more info below in the Avare Forum. It can also be interfaced to the MSFSX via xConn.exe. It has current Charts, Plates, 3D... For more info visit site below or post here. https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/apps4av-forum

  19. Hi. Ortho4XP is working fine but I am confused about your process / steps, it's a .py based not .exe as I recall and a little confusing on how to use it. If you want you can dload some tiles from your area by "forkboy2"? but they are not very hi res, ZL16? and also require some file conversions. 23. If you go single you may want to consider 42 in or above.
  24. For Real World pilots the sim is used as a tool. In order to have a useful tool you must have sufficient throughput in the available hardware to present / simulate flight as clearly and as fluid as possible. If you cannot have a display that is readable, and updates of the instruments, and views, as possible you do not have a simulator. The present day the required power to present a good, crisp, useful VR environment is just not there. VR is still too demanding to be used in anything else other than some games that are less complex and or special demos specifically design to demo VR, and have no need for complex code. Flight simulation does not fit into that categories. I've tested a number of VR sets, and 3D monitors, over the years and did not find any that give you that smooth and clear updates required to give you the feel that is useful as a tool. I find that even 4K resolution is barely sufficiently clear, smooth, and crisp to have a credible instrument panel and maintain that real time, fluid sensation and clear view expected / needed. I have a fairly powerful system and using VR is just not presently acceptable. The present sims have sufficient controller assignments that allow you to switch views, look around, as long as you can get a good, basic, starting view location. VR, smoke / particles, reflections, head bobbing, eye blinking.. is no benefit to real RW pilots that want to use this as a tool. It is a good idea to have the VR hooks needed for some future development but not something that would take away from what is important and what the systems are able to handle presently.
  25. Hi Loki. I like the theoretical description but I hope that they are able to implement it in the real / simulated aircraft. Many times the implementation cannot keep up with the theory, due to many facts, most likely the throughput of the systems used. If they cannot get a smooth, fluid sensation, all the theory is not likely to help. I hope they can get it done. I am looking forward to it.
