  1. I may be uniquely dense, but I downloaded [tiger1962_kingair350_mod.zip] by Tim Wright, but I have no idea how to install the modification? I have never added anything other than MS Marketplace items to the default package. How does this link to the King Air file? Baffled!
  2. The GT 730 is significantly below the GPU needed to run MSFS. https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-760-vs-Nvidia-GeForce-GT-730/2159vsm12582 You also don't specify which I5 10th gen processor? https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-10400-vs-Intel-Core-i5-7500/4073vs3648 https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-10600K-vs-Intel-Core-i5-7500/4072vs3648 https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-10600K-vs-Intel-Core-i5-4460/4072vs2310 Keep in mind, minimum specs may not yield a very satisfying experience, especially since you don't specify a monitor resolution. It take more CPU and GPU to run 1440p than 1080p.
  3. I am running a 27 inch 1440p curved monitor and I upgraded from a 1920X1200 24 inch flat (odd size). I am very happy with MSFS at 1440p on this monitor. I think a version of MSFS that supports some 3 monitor capability is currently in beta testing and some speculate it may be released in the next update. An alternative, is to use something similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Ultra-Wide-Response-FreeSync-G34WQC-SA/dp/B08GFN64F2/ref=sr_1_13?keywords=gigabyte+1440p+monitor&qid=1658842055&s=pc&sr=1-13 I have not tried this setup, but I think I have seen others post that it works fine in ultra wide 1440p?
  4. If you could find an old copy of FS2004, it would probably run on that system? You may have a problem with heat, as that processor is reportedly prone to overheating? If you want to run the newer simulators, you will probably want to go with a tower system rather than a laptop.
  5. That does not make sense to me? If the update changed your settings, taking a picture of the settings would perpetuate the problem. Why not post the settings photo to this thread?
  6. This shot shows an example of geology interpretable from the sim. This shot in Southern Chile shows a recent lava flow has dammed an estuary to create a fresh water lake on the left, separated from the sea on the right. If you fly east out of Brookings, SD, you can see glacial striations evident on the landscape. Many mountainous locations have many glacial features you can see in the sim. There are many examples of breeched domes, anticlines, and synclines, which are evident in the sim, such that the folding can often be interpreted. If you fly northwest out of Lawton, OK, you can see the buried granitic Wichita Mountains jutting from the surrounding plain. These mountains were a major range all the way from north of Lawton to Amarillo, TX, millions of years ago. There are major faults that are now visible in the sim. Many more examples are easily cited.
  7. Why was ATC getting political? I don't think he needs to state his position on the matter, it might offend someone!
  8. Some of the World Updates require the latest version of Windows 10 or 11. My W10 updated yesterday before I opened MSFS. A reboot may have been needed to finish your Windows update?
  9. Try to navigate around FSX by using buildings and landscape from the actual world. You can do that in MSFS but not in FSX. Fly out in Iowa. In FSX, everything is a flat patchwork of tiles. In MSFS, the terrain develops a three dimensional quality that resembles the actual landscape. Certainly, there are still good things to be said for FSX, large choice of aircraft, less demanding on hardware, and some additional airports, but why not have both. I still have FSX and FS2002, as well as X-Plane, but 98% of my use is MSFS.
  10. Keep in mind, MSTS is a very demanding program at the highest settings. I run a 1440p monitor with my settings optimized for my preferences, and I get >30 fps out in the wide open country I fly. If you spend time in NYC or LA or London or Paris, you will lower fps markedly. At 4K this program is really challenging for most modern hardware. Some can live with 20 fps, others would find that problematic.
  11. This worked for me at college. My dorm floor was getting burglarized regularly. My room was obviously soon to be hit. I decided to teach the perp not to mess with the science major. I got some ninhydrin donated by one of my professors and some score hair gel. I mixed the two and applied this liberally to a paper weight, and placed that on top of a $10.00 bill in my dorm drawer. Ninhydrin reacts with the amino acid groups in skin to produce a bright purple colored skin that lasts for about 3 weeks. Sure enough, my room was hit, the last room hit!! I notified the cafeteria staff but he never showed up. I had the satisfaction to know he went hungry for about 3 weeks. I did not realize there was dye in a $10.00 bill that contained an amine compound. I had to go to the bank to exchange a $10.00 bill with a bright purple ring around the center. We never had a burglar after that!!
  12. Two short flights around the Strawberry Mountains of Oregon, near Prairie City.
  13. Just curious, are you comparing performance in the same scenery areas? I have not noticed anything much different, but I usually fly in the frame friendly middle of North America. If I suddenly went to Rome and compared those frame rates to KFMZ, I would see a huge difference.
  14. I had a MS gaming services update this morning. No problems opening the sim around noon.
  15. Both the latest update and SU9 went fine for me, no issues. I will say, it would be better if MicroSoft and Asobo maintained a consistent update interface. Update dumped me into the middle of the store and I suspect some would be frustrated to find the update for MSFS. I realize they think I will see Pink Otter Prom app and purchase like I am at the checkout for my grocery (i don't buy the magazines and candy bars there either). Keep it consistent and simple!
