    COCKPITS COCKPITS COCKPITS

modelling airplanes wether the largest A380 or your favourite experimental is the same, no big deal.

The feeling of a plane is more from the cockpit than outside view. I rather have a detailed realistic 707 cockpit and say the outside view is of a Cessna152., dont care, I can live with it more than if the outside looks are pretty but the cockpit is from another plane arghhh!

But building cockpits and systems, specially those that are different from the stock planes, and even more specially the analogue ones that use needles, switches and buttons that must relate to a particular era, manufacturer, color, etc...that seems to be a big deal for developpers, and last specially but not least...those developpers are getting younger every day, their visual reference of some great cockpits is not supported by life experience, hence even if they attempt developping classic airplanes, they will fall short. Their only chance is to copy cockpits made for earlier simms and adapt them to ms2020, a copy of the copy, tough

  2. Yes, Whats keeping most folks in Xplane and P3Dv4 or 5 or even die hard FSX is the possibility of having a variety of good planes WITH REALISTIC cockpits specially of those planes that prevailed the skies in the near past.

Come on...the past is the main reason we sit in front of a computer to sim.

If you are 18yo or 20 and planning to take licence and a career you will enjoy simming modern cockpits to an extent. Soon you will get so much involved with real flying that simming will have no point.

Many will argue that stock planes are found in many airports. While this is true, it doesnt describe reality. Taking the whole world not just US, a large percentage of small and medium planes are still analog

So for a vast majority, we sit in a computer to sim remembering times gone by. Wether its six months ago because you did a particular flight, or 40 years ago, or perhaps 50 years when you were a kid flying as a passenger in great planes. Or even not about you, but remembering your Dad who was a pilot and flew 70 years ago!!

Simming is remembering, emulating, "doing as you saw in real" , all these relate to past tense.

MS2020 has better graphics, better scenery, better airports...whats missing?

Its missing the planes that made people love aviation

  3. just how few people here in flightsim are really actively flying, it seems few are complaining...

    servers still down

this just show why is so important if you buy a game to be able to start if offline with no outside interference whatsoever. Thats what cached bing maps are for... MS initially said you would be able to sim offline but that is not strictly true, you have a limit of times you can do this and right now we should be able to start the sim offline but its unable, its hooked to the servers and loops to that error

    Shame!!

  4. Hi, I have been out of the sim hobby due to travel and work

i sat down for a relax and launch MS2020, waited for the long update of several countries Japan, UK USA etc

Glad MS is monthly coming with improvs and upgrades

But what is it with the SDK ? seems still people struggling

Only 2 aircraft addons (I mean "aircraft" not experimental never-heard-about planes) have been launched, both by carenado (ovation and PA44)

Hate those who release airplanes with a default different cockpit, like some are doing with Airbuses, although its true an Airbus "saw one, saw them all" (except for the great A300/310)

    The rest? nothing

Some large addon companies havent even mentioned they are building MS2020 versions (Captainsim, PMDG still nothing), and specially the golden age planes of jets alone (I name them cause know them by heart: Comet, Caravelle, 707, 747-200, 727, 737-200, DC10, L1011, DC8, DC9, Fokker, Trident, VC10, BAC111) are so long down the road since they would probably be freeware github developpers once sdk is really open

    must be the DRM stuff..tss

anyway, never has the flightsim community found itself in the latest sim version with such a dull fleet of cockpit planes

  5. Yesterday I flew from Burbank to Las Vegas. I didn't use any fast sim rate. Autopilot and auto throttle all the way. When I was trying to climb, it was constantly oscillating between 18,000 fpm and -200 fpm. Also, you can still move the throttle manually when in auto throttle. That is strange. On takeoff you get absurd climb rates like 5,000 fpm, and auto throttle doesn't work at first. I wouldn't bother reinstalling the plane, because I doubt that is the problem.

did you operate as Mike (floundy) suggested?

to all people that find huge vertical speed discrepancies...

Autopilot applies feet per minute (fpm) depending on the plane SPEED

if speed is programmed in the fmc (managed) it will use that speed

if managed is chosen but no speed is input in fmc > problem!

autopilot will first think speed is unlimited skyrocketing fps, but since its not as soon as speed below 250 it reduces fpm to 200ft, and repeats this bouncing glitch

Either set your speed parameters on fmc or use "selected speed" in mouse option autopilot

Hey, i have been away from Sim since October, before 3 updates and problems with operating Airbus autopilot had endless threads both here and msfs forum

    and its still going on!!

And it will go on because people come into the sim or first try this realistic Airbus every single day and the fact is no one bothers to learn how autopilot works in a real airbus.

In a real Airbus IF you take off without every single speed and waypoint programmed in fmc not only the plane will go crazy up and down not knowing what fpm to apply, you would also be sacked and go to jail, even if there is no accident because your colleague pilot manages to control the plane.

There's is no point crying and saying autopilot doesn't work

You can watch YouTube video tutorials by Real Airbus Sim a320 pilot

its all about proper programming fmc in climb waypoints with target altitudes and speed, keeping throttles in CLIMB position, or if you don't want to follow fmc exactly, keep altitude and airspeed in selected mode and choose a desired vertical speed

be sure> you must learn how to fly Airbus autopilot, and if you think you know and you are having problems...you dont

  6. Meanwhile, in major parts of the globe, humans are trying to stay alive by drinking water from a muddy ditch.

We really should make them aware of the problems some are facing with overexposed flight sim scenery. I'm certain they would have empathy.

    Exactly

You can find tons of discrepancies with real life

I miss the tyres short squeech sound when landing one of many examples

As overexposed as it is its better than not being overexposed like other sims. Im glad overexposed is a feature that differentiates it from other sims, i dont want a clear outside view cause in real life when your eyes are focused inside the cockpit or the cabin ALL outside view is overexposed

For the view to get normal you need to press your face in the window so the eyesight lightning balances and clears the view, which in the sim equal to external camera

  7. How are you typing here?

You type first, then you dial up a provider with an analogue modem and when you hear the connection noise...the message is sent? Is that so?

Or are you using broadband? Or there is cable internet in you area now?

You dont want FSX, you want MSFS but dont have the PC or internet to run it. Put it straight, say the truth

Humanity moves forward and standards improve.

NO, you dont need to download US scenery 452gig, you just start Msfs and take off and the scenery is there (effortless online download as you fly)

On the second time you fly a route the scenery is already on cache and don even need internet

Will MS update Fsx for old computers?

    No.

Nobody cares about old computers, even Windows 7 and XP is out of support already by MS

You see, if we dont move forward...we dont move forward. The energy spent by an employee touching fsx or win xp could be more useful for society working for the new standards.

Msfs IS fsx, only updated to the present.

Take your time and see when you can get yourself a normal pc rig and internet and you are all set

Or stick to fsx as it is

  8. No, I haveñ't, and i agree that there are inconcistencies. In fact the coast line where i live has an horrendous join in it between Bing image tiles, but that doesn't dtract from the overall huge improvement in the "feel" of the landscape for me.i also belive that this type of image error will be dealt with in time.

I don't think the OP was referring to these types of inconcistencies but was talking about the washed out look everywhere , which in my view is down to the atmospheric modelling and is more life like to my eyes.

Sent from my SM-T813 using Tapatalk

I agree, the bright washed out view is more real than any other sim out there. THANKS msfs for improving this feeling. In exterior camera the view is clearer, equals puting you eyes /face at a window with no interior allowing for light adjustment of the eye
