  1. Then you need to WAIT... Specs for the new Flight Simulator are not expected before Autumn 2019 at the very earliest. For now, remove a LOT OF THIRD PARTY SCENERY, starting with the rubbish you haven't flown in several months, then migrating to any you have only logged one or two landings. And stay happy. You can use the time in between to research what you are going to need for the next rig. We obviously cannot advise you about new product we know NOTHING about...
  2. Why are you trying to use FSX-specific product in P3D? Especially P3Dv4, which has several 64-bit variances to 32-bit FSX and differences installing and maintaining sub-par product. There's no way you should be trying to force an FSX 737 to fit!

    Info request

You might want to look at this: https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?317547-Is-it-worth-switching-from-FSX-to-P3D P3D has an EULA which limits access. Read it to find out if it's for you. Performance is different and in some cases, better. But not if you have a crap computer - You need to be specific about which version of the sim you're looking at. P3d v4 and above are 64-bit applications, and the latest version is P3D v4.5 Hotfix. Point releases are typically free, but new versions (i.e P3D v5) will have to be repurchased. P3D is refundable for the first sixty days. Support for P3D is more technically-orientated as it is not intended for the mass-consumer market. If you don't know this already, or don't meet the EULA then assume P3D (any version) is NOT for you. It is NOT a sim game like FSX...
  4. Thanks for the answers. I now intend to purchase this on behalf of several customers (they're buying theirs, I will buy it to match their setups). No further opinions on the matter here.
  5. Various versions of SimConnect can be found in the FSX base installation in a subfolder named Redist. Install ALL of them.

  7. Definitions: A category III A approach is a precision instrument approach and landing with no decision height or a decision height lower than 100ft (30m) and a runway visual range not less than 700ft (200m). A category III B approach is a precision approach and landing with no decision height or a decision height lower than 50ft (15m) and a runway visual range less than 700ft (200m), but not less than 150ft (50m). A category III C approach is a precision approach and landing with no decision height and no runway visual range limitation. And this is the info for Domodedevo (UUDD): http://vau.aero/navdb/chart/UUDD.pdf There is no ILS for Runway 32R and certainly not a Cat II/III. Of course, you can do whatever you like in FSX, or in designing scenery for it...
  8. Sounds like you would benefit more from learning to fly it right? I don't expect any return to 2D panels, nor an option to `stop the aircraft veering wildly` on take-off. And the new sim is going to require a fast internet connection and data i/o and a LOT of RAM more than a superfast graphic card or huge amounts of VRAM. I hope I'm wrong, but fear I'm right...
  9. There are NO Cat III ILS approaches with an offset...
  10. Provide full system specs. Also plug the joystick into the SAME USB port it used to be plugged in.
  11. Search and you shall find. MS have pulled the plug on their weather service.
  12. Reinstall, yes the lot.
  13. Which book did you copy that from? Primary requirement for ANY pilot is the ability to fly, and understand the physics involved. Then it's understanding it's a never-ending learning process, and you WILL be a student for the rest of your flying life even after you qualify... Learning by Rote is never a good thing, but learning the answer `why` will keep you alive when others tumble into the `cumulus granitus` or ocean. Flight sim is almost irrelevant for this kind of learning, and no substitute for getting out there and flying. Flight Sim is relevant for complex systemology and `deep learning`of cause-and-effect. Of course it IS good at repetition and can be very good at practical learning before flight into the unknown. But that doesn't apply to default simming! In our club we invite fly-out pilots to practice approaches and `distance flying` over mimickry of terrain and airfields when it takes them out of their comfort zone or into new airspace. We haven't had an airspace infringement caused by poor pilotage by a club member in over two years - and given this is Southern England, that's quite something!
  14. REX Worldwide Airports HD for me - I don't and won't use ANY of the AI traffic because they are all poorly-coded and cause collapse of FPS but I do want updated and refreshed textures in airports I might only use occasionally.
  15. No. Just delete the ones you are not flying at currently. We all have a tendency to add files for the `rainy day` or the `chance that you divert` but actually you never fly there, or simply d/l it to try just once... The huge advantage of FTX product is how easy it is to re-install if you ever actually need it again. Just get in the habit of removing it when you don't need it anymore. Their new ORBX Central utility will make that even easier. I tend to spend more of my time removing addons from my clients list than adding them... Keeps them running sweet!
  16. Question: Are we at a point where this is now a worthwhile buy? I have a number of users interested in the `commuter experience` but as they have discovered no budget upgrade between the ATR42 and this ATR72 and given it's a Carenado I cant really recommend either. 4 upgrades to the 42 suggests it's still the same ol' CareNoto and now 2 updates to the 72 makes me even more nervous... Anyone able to recommend either?
  17. Have you learned to fly the plane? Ctrl-E is bog-basic function best kept for beginners on default planes. More complex planes often need the correct `flow`.
  18. And lets not forget asking the sim to read countless other files from addon developers exposes the user and his/her sim to the vagaries of THEIR programming, too. How many of the default scenery addons have you disabled? And how many addons have you flown from/to just once or twice?
  19. You don't say WHO is gauging your landing? As Napamule says, it's only good for bragging rights and in any case, it varies according to weight, wind and airport characteristics, along with aircraft setup - Even among the same aircraft on the same day. You're overthinking this. Trying to get a `fps` reading on a touchdown is fruitless and pointless, your aim should be more about consistency and understanding how forces and weights will impact on that consistency. You won't find that answer in software you will find the answer in understanding HOW those forces are likely to impact on the landing, and handling the aircraft accordingly. With practice, you should even be able to handle the variances between aircraft, no matter how `similar` they appear...
  20. Now upgraded to v1.2, so I'm no longer guessing... https://www.carenado.com/sitecarenad...eries-p3d-fsx/
  21. NEVER a good idea to removed default aircraft. Put them back and see if loading times decrease. I can't see what you were trying to achieve by replacing them with a large quantity of AI aircraft? You can make default aircraft invisible as a selection but you should NOT remove them, as they provide AI options and are embedded in code which means you can get an incessant loop as the sim searches for the `missing` aircraft...
  22. Name them. Are you trying to `go down and slow down` at the same time? Change your methodology not the aircraft drag effect. Gear (and to a certain extent flaps) will not prevent a heavy or slippery aircraft from accelerating while descending. Solution is not to try but to slow down in level flight (or even in a slight climb) FIRST, before pitching for descent.
  23. And for operation in and around airfields and airports there will be acknowledged lines of approach with corresponding heights, which is where radio altimeters come in so useful - measuring actual-height-above-ground rather than altitude-based-on-pressure.. I see you're now posting in the FSX forum oneleg, whereas in the earlier postings you referred to P3D. Can you please tell us what sims you have (and what versions) as advice can be tailored to your choice of sim?
  24. Looking carefully out the window would be the first advice. In real life ADS-B gives you primary warning - but only for other ADS-B equipped aircraft:
