I'm not sure quite how high the Lysander will fly actually, so I could be doing some 'valley chasing'.........

Best of luck!  Hope all the bad weather was only pestering me.  Just to forwarn you, Leg 7 0E0 to KGUP has Mount Tabor on the way at an altitude of 11,301 ft.

Day 27 Standings.

Hello PP,

All of my other entries are correct, but I have not flown Flagstaff Pulliam AZ (KFLG) to Needles CA (KEED) yet so there is an extra V0 in my listing.  Hope you have a crystal ball and I can match your prediction though! 🙂

Thanks again for all you do to moderate and keep track of everything.  Much Appreciated!

If my old Bonanza could make it I'm sure that big wing and radial will have no problem.

I love the pictures of your aircraft inside and out!  Rooting for you to get at least one V0 by the end of the Rally.  🙂

Maybe you can get a cargo hold full of nuns to pray for you, then it will happen!

Ha! May be it might happen...I'm actually thinking of cheating.  Since the anti-cheater isnt here...🤭

Leg 7 V5 (0E0 to KGUO) & 8 V3 (KGUO to KFLG)

Wind and turbulence the whole day, this was a wild ride.

Departing Moriarty, went as far west as I could on RW 8/26, had plenty of fuel for the long taxi.

image.thumb.jpeg.9c4174919ef0bd672dc168dd1ddd773c.jpeg

Albuquerque to the South, teeth rattling, bone jarring turbulence. One minute behind already.

image.thumb.jpeg.8e4d8265de4ab6dc367c5c167cf8d0d4.jpeg

Rapidly rising terrain, climbed to 10,000 ft. This has to be Mount Taylor.

image.thumb.jpeg.943fe7b304208b64e2bf56d16c61d094.jpeg

Coming up on Gallup, fighting strong headwinds, bouncing around to much to calculate ground speed with E6B. Definitely behind on time.

image.thumb.jpeg.1c2aa127d3a4928af6e0dec5f4003e76.jpeg

Overtop of Gallup, I-40, Rt. 118 and the RR, must be the right direction. Glad I have my Phillips 66 road map. V5. Will have to see if can do better enroute to Flagstaff.

image.thumb.jpeg.5b33102c2d048f3caa91f63ffb35ef54.jpeg

Sand dunes, that's Petrified Forrest National Park. 55 miles to Flagstaff. Weather getting  hazy and still a good amount of turbulence. Road map says the RR goes to Flagstaff.

image.thumb.jpeg.2b0fdde9963a4f94cf23dda4310a66f4.jpeg

Flagstaff in sight, can't wait to get on the ground.

image.thumb.jpeg.49619dfb3490ae6853a278b27b3059d2.jpeg

On the ground at Flagstaff. I've got a blade or two out of track from the turbulence, so still bouncing around a bit even on the ground. Hope the A&P knows how to hand track rotors, if not, he/she's in for a quick lesson. Managed to make up some time, but still V3 on this leg. Will wait for a less windy day to finish the last two legs.

That is a great view from inside the cockpit.  Awesome visibility!

I do like the VC on this old bird.

Lot's of plexiglass for sure. I bet it was a real sauna on a hot day.

Eustace got into the single malt one of the nuns stowed and was no help at all.  Trimmed out and left for a quick trip to the relief tube.  When I put the HMD back on the Boo was only slightly off course but the stopwatch reset!  Well, that will take the pressure off.  Literally and figuratively!  Or littoral(y) for Phrog.

Now to bring her home with a couple V0's!

Maybe should replace the 55 gal fuel drum with two nuns and a bottle of rum.

No no ... you all need to trust me on this one ... light some candles in the cabin!  I found these cute little holders for you to use ...

Right now I am very fortunate that the Spitfire does not have a cabin.  Not keeping a lit candle on my lap, no matter how cute! 🙂

While the fuel drum is there? That would be exciting!
