adrianb4
Is it possible to touchdown on the end off the Tom ruth a330/340 gears and hold it there before the rest of the gear hits the ground like in real life, instead of the gear just hitting the ground all at once? mrzippy
You're the pilot. I assume you want to land on the main mounts first and then gently lower the nose wheel down. Are you adding some flare before touchdown? Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!

Videos of the T Ruth A330 I've seen show the aircraft landing exactly like the real thing - rear wheels from the bogies first, then fronts... Ask yourself what you are doing wrong - and stop doing it!
lnuss
Is it just the one plane you have trouble with, or is it all of them? I don't know that specific aircraft, but if it's all aircraft then you should go back to the C-172 and take the lessons in the sim, getting proficient in it first, then step your way up. The way aircraft touch down on the main wheels first is by the pilot setting the proper approach speed, then as you near the ground you add a bit of back pressure to raise the nose in what's called a flare. So shortly before touchdown you'll be in a slightly nose high attitude. Perhaps your approach speed is too high, or perhaps you're not flaring just above touchdown. Larry N. tiger1962
Further to Charlie & Larry's answers above, not all freeware models are made with tilting bogies (wheels) because this is quite a complex combined animation and effect usually only found on payware models. True, but Tom Ruth’s A330/A340 has them for sure. (around 0:55) Wim Edited September 3, 2019 by f16jockey_2
tiger1962
Thanks Wim, it wasn't clear in adrianb4's question whether the gear did tilt or not. Since it does, then it's just a matter of practicing landing as gently as the real world A330/A340 pilots do! Tim Wright "The older I get, the better I was..." mrzippy
Took me a little bit to figure out what was meant by a tilting gear. It's like on the 747, with multiple wheels. I did a quick test with a T. Ruth A330-300 and landed and kept the nose up till I was over half way down the runway. Worked like a champ! lnuss
So that's what he meant. Then disregard my post. Larry N. As Skylab would say: Remember: Aviation is NOT an exact Science!
napamule2
The Ruth models have 1 contact point for gear(s). It would have to have 2 or 3 cnt pts to be able for gear to be 'just touching' runway, then followed by 2nd and 3rd cnt pt 'touching' & then 'fully compressed (ie:all gear on gound). That would require annimation (for 3 cnt pts) that is not possible with just 1 cnt pt. So, it's (1). 'tillted': not yet touching and (2).'level': touching (all). That is to say only 'ON' or 'OFF' is possible, with nothing in between. So it can not do what the 'real' tillted boogies can do. Chuck B Napamule As far as I know animating tilting gear bogies can be achieved by use of custom XML coding and animation trickery & does not require any additional contact points in the aircraft.cfg.
