VMF-251 took delivery of this Fury from VMF-235 in 1956.

The "235" markings have been scrubbed off, but, the stains are still visible...Don

In the San Diego winter...

I know, it's not Colorado, but not too many carriers floating around there!

Even the Angels need to keep up their CQ's!

CQ=Carrier Quals. Every wearer of The Wings of Gold has to maintain proficiency in all phases of carrier operations. Day, night, Case 1, 2 and 3, all of it. Launch and recovery both. What the interval on their requals are I don't know. I just know they have to "get the X" every now and then. Once a month? Quarter? I dunno, it was, honestly, just a nice title for the pic, I thought :) I sincerely doubt they actually use the aircraft actually assigned to the Angels squadron, honestly, and for all I know, they are exempt from certain requirements while assigned to it themselves.

On a side note, I don't even know, after all these years and my great admiration for the Blues, what their squadron designation is! That thought just hit me. Are they a VF? VFT? like VFT-1 or whatever....maybe a VX...

More research to be done!

Pat☺

My New Hawaii! A great transformation using:

The MegaSceneryEarth 2.0 - Hawaii Special $5 Edition from PC Aviator.

Raimondo Taburet's Hawaii 10m Mesh, hawai10_2.zip, in the library here.

George Keogh's Hawaiian Airports 1, 2, & 3, in Avsim's Library.

Search for "Hawaiian Airports Part 1" and all 3 will show up.

Hello,

all is in the package.

For IVM only, the IVP doesn't have a HUD...

The "nounou" versions (refueling planes) haven't Hud too.
