    MSFS Video - "Black Ops Aerial Display" By the early 1980s, the USSR had built up a military arsenal surpassing that of the United States. In response, President Reagan began the largest peacetime defense buildup in U.S. history, which included an increase in U.S. covert operations. When the F/A-18 became operational in 1983, a C.I.A. top secret squadron was formed under the authority of a classified Executive Order. The secret-squadron aircraft were painted black and flown at night. The squadron's mission was to conduct reconnaissance and surgical strikes. In 1998, President Clinton, due to budget constraints, disbanded the squadron. Before doing so, however, Clinton requested an aerial demonstration, which took place at Groom Lake/Area 51. For the "eyes only" event, one aircraft was given a special demonstrator paint scheme. This video is a simulation of what that flight might have looked like. You may say, “Steve, is all that really true?” I can neither confirm nor deny. First of two planned "Black Ops" videos. Run Time: 12 minutes 39 seconds. Video by Stephen LaRose.
