  4. Rievaulx-Abbey_V2.0.0.zip

Rievaulx Abbey (North York Moors, UK), version 2.0.0 -- Add-on for MSFS 2020

Founded in 1132 by 12 Cistercian monks, the monastery grew rapidly. Around 1300 the monastery reached its peak size with 140 monks and maybe 500 lay brothers. But at the same time, the abbey had incurred debts - just like modern start-ups growing too fast. There were problems like an epidemic of sheep scab and attacks by the Scots. The monks were in severe financial problems. In the mid 14th century, the black death caused a great reduction in population and made it difficult to recruit new lay brothers for manual labour. At the end, the abbey had shrunk almost to the size it had, when it started - 14 monks, three lay brothers and the abbot.

This scenery replaces the buildings occupying the site of the abbey in the default scenery with more realistic abbey building remains. This second versions adds the refectory and dormatory remains.

  22. MSFS Ryugyong Scenery

A few days ago I flew around in North Korea for fun. I noticed that the iconic Ryugyong hotel was missing. So I made the buidling in Blender and imported it into MSFS. The 3d-model isn't that great. It only took me about 30 minutes to make it. Don't expect much from it.

    Main features:
    -Adds the famous Ryugyong hotel
-Deletes wrong buildings in the area
-Adds North Korean flags in front of the building
-Adds some vegetation around the Ryugyong

The Ryugyong Hotel is an unfinished 105-story, 330-metre-tall (1,080 ft) pyramid-shaped skyscraper in Pyongyang, North Korea. Its name is also one of the historical names for Pyongyang. The building is also known as the 105 Building, a reference to its number of floors. The building has been planned as a mixed-use development, which would include a hotel.
Construction began in 1987 but was halted in 1992 as North Korea entered a period of economic crisis after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. After 1992, the building stood topped out, but without any windows or interior fittings. In 2008, construction resumed, and the exterior was completed in 2011. The hotel was planned to open in 2012, the centenary of founding leader Kim Il-Sung's birth. A partial opening was announced for 2013, but this was cancelled. In 2018, an LED display was fitted to one side, which is used to show propaganda animations and film scenes.
    [Wikipedia: Ryugyong Hotel]

    Installation:
    1. Download the file from flightsim.com
    2. Open the ZIP-file. There should be a folder called "north-korea_nfm"
    3. Copy this folder into your community folder
    4. Restart MSFS. The scenery should work now

The community folder is usually located here:
    C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Community
    This can be different.

I do not support the North Korean regime in any way!

    Have fun!

  23. Flymidwest Chicago Land - Heliports

This is a collection of 57 FAA Listed Heliports in the Greater Chicago, IL USA Metropolitan area. All of the heliports have been added to the package as "airports" which makes them searchable on the map and able to be started from, and/or added to, flight plans. A number of these helipads are on building rooftops and are "landable", but due to quirks in MSFS, areas that use photogrammetry (which is the bulk of the areas in this scenery) have little issues here and there and the renditions are somewhat quirky. You definately need to have photogrammetry ENABLED in your setup to get the full benefit of this scenery. Lights and windsocks have been added where information and aerial photos indicate their presence. Some of the heliports use scenery objects from the HELIPADS PACK by GBZH35 (available on flightsim.to) and for the windsocks and flags, you will need to have WINDY THINGS by trfsto (also available on flightsim.to) You do not need the helipads pack "package" installled as the objects are coded into the scenery, but you WILL need the windy things package installed to see the windsocks. There is a pdf listing of all of the heliports included in the zip archive as well as an installation instruction text file.
Several other Midwestern United States scenery files can be found on my web site http://www.flymidwest.org This file updated as needed and available there.

  24. St.Martin's Church, Kassel (GER) for MSFS 2020 - version 1.0.0

St.Martin's Church, Kassel (GER) for MSFS 2020 - version 1.0.0

The "Martinskirche" (St.Martin's church) is the main church of Kassel. Building started sometime in the 1340's. The progress was slow and parts of the church collapsed in 1440. The consecration finally took place in 1462. The southern tower was partially completed in 1487, but it was not before 1564/65, that the spire was finalized. Meanwhile the church had become a protestant church, when Landgrave Philipp converted to Protestantism in 1524.
Then it took more than another 300 years, until the northern tower was build (1889 to 1892).
In 1943, the church was heavily damaged when Kassel was attacked by allied bombers and burnt. The nave collapsed and the walls suffered from the heat of the fire. Rebuilding took place from 1954 to 1958 with a reconstruction of the old nave, but new and more modern towers. The church was re-consecrated in 1958.
Today it is the church of the bishop of the protestant church of Kurhessen-Waldeck.

This scenery fills the void place in the old town center of Kassel with a 3D model of the church.

To install: unzip the Martinskirche_V1.0.0.zip archive to a place of your choice. It will contain some documentation and another archive "scenery-ks-Martinskirche.zip"
Locate your community directory. Then drag the "scenery-ks-Martinskirche" directory of the second zip-file to your community directory.
The scenery is build using Blender 3.3.5 (see www.blender.org), the Asobo Blender exporter version 1.3.0 and the SDK version 0.21.0 of Microsoft/Asobo. Google Earth was used to estimate dimensions.

This scenery is freeware. If you use it, you do so fully at your own risk. The author disclaims all warranties, either expressed or implied.
The archive may be distributed freely, provided that all files and the documentation are left complete and unchanged and that no money is asked for it. 25. MSFS Treefix Northern Norway

One of the most annoying things when flying VFR, spesially in familiar areas, are that big amount of auto generated trees in areas where it should'nt be any forest or just some scattered trees. The coast of Norway is well know for it's tough and weather-beaten coastline and there are barly any trees or forest close to the outer skarries and shorelines. This package excludes the autogenerated forest in northern parts of Norway. It's not as accurate as my Northwestern Norway Treefix, but if you dont like it, just delete it 🙂

    Installation:
Just drop in the community folder.

    Ver 1.1.0
    - Compiled with SDK 0.20.50
    - This is the same package previously found on flightsim.to but compiled with the latest SDK.
    Ver 1.0.0
    - Removed trees along the coastline from Hitra (Trøndelag) to the Russian border.
    - Removed trees from Stetind and surrounding mountains.
    - Compiled with SDK 0.14.1
    Ver 0.3.0
    - Buildt with SDK 0.14.0 for Sim update 1.18.15 compatibility.
    Ver 0.2.0
    - Added the Lofoten islands and east side of Vestfjorden.
    Initial realease ver 0.1.0
    - Covers the outer coast from Hitra to Bodø.
    Enjoy
