Carenado Saab 340 zoom

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I tried searching this topic and came up short. Are there any users of the Carenado Saab 340 that have been slightly perplexed by how "close" the spot view is to the plane? Zooming out only distorts the aircraft. I'm wondering if there's any solution on how to adjust the distance from the plane the camera is. In FS9 (which is still my primary platform), simply editing the distance/zoom in "view options" does the trick. But alas, FSX doesn't have that feature. Any insight would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

George

I have always had better luck with "Locked Spot" view as opposed to "Spot" view.

Yes...but "Spot" is a lot more challenging to try and land when it swings hard left or right!

Thanks for your suggestions everyone! Mallcott: I'm not sure where I can find wideview, as I didn't see it under display settings. I'll show everyone what I'm seeing when I first select the aircraft, then load the sim. When selecting all other aircraft, the whole plane shows up in the box. When selecting the Saab, only the midsection is displayed, due to the "camera point" being so close to the plane.

In the aircraft selection screen, you can zoom the view in or out with the keyboard plus and minus keys. This should set the spot view distance in the sim as well, if not you can also use the plus and minus keys in spot view. In both cases you can reset to default zoom by pressing the spacebar.

You need to move it back, which you do by adjusting the 'chase distance'. The default mappings for this are CTRL- and CTRL=. It is helpful to have these functions mapped to a pair of buttons on your joystick. (If you want to see the difference between zoom and chase distance, check out

, from 2:48.)

Look for it in your FSX.cfg WideViewAspect=True under [Display] or add it in!;)

Thanks for all your help, everyone! I will give it a go and see what happens. I should also perhaps try to learn how to fly the plane properly while I'm at it :p:pilot:
