  1. That's cruise speed. its max is 50mph. Woohoo. I did fly an ILS into Long Beach with the Columbia. THAT was an experience. A large bag is not easy to keep on the glide path.
  2. Times had changed, they were free back in the day.
  3. Luckily in the '80s public access for blimp flights was still allowed. A lawsuit over an injury ended those wonderful public relations flights.
  4. I liked the older paint scheme, but any LTA that you see is worth every second.
  5. What an interesting design for a club built airship. https://www.airshipsonline.com/airships/Bournmouth/index.htm I was luck to have seen many USN blimps as a child, since I grew up in central New Jersey, home to Lakehurst. They used to cruise along the summer beaches, of course to wave back to all the happy waving little children. LTA is a passion for me, with a rather sizable library and airship memorabilia collection. I even have small relics from the Hindenburg and the USS Akron.

  7. OMG, Kit's a closet government contractor!
  8. I've read plenty of those, and you can tell by the self-hyped hyperbole in the first few paragraphs of the into.
  9. Here are a couple Goodyear craft to get you started. Yes they are FS2002. You will find these are quite different than anything else you've flown. gydef.zip gdyr2k2.zip
  10. Nicely done. Faced a couple challenges head on, and stayed on time.
  11. Truly disheartening news. Hope you get it all sorted out.
  12. Thanks, That will make three 206's! Is this for the default 206 or another?
  13. A commemorable feat, that's great to do, ONCE.
  14. I am recommending Melo965 for the Spirit of the Race award. His efforts, trials, and tribulations on getting his de Havilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk to Australia, and them the commitment of staying with her for the whole race, through thick and thin, shows a spirit that is commendable. It is not easy to recommend someone, as everyone has shown the Spirit of the Race to such an outstanding degree. This has been a long and challenging run, for which all participants may share some pride.
  15. My "real" logbook has two flights piloting a GZ-20A. (N10A Columbia). I had a friend who was a senior Goodyear pilot, and when they would do maintenance in the USMC hangars I had two opportunities to pilot the blimp when repositioning to Long Beach. One set of controls, so my logged flight time.
  16. Sirrus, thank you. YES this applies to all participants, whether one flew a helicopter or not. And these are great pics, headed for the poster.
  17. Totally understandable. The chippie always looks great, in the air or on the ramp Lovin' the sun glint.
  18. I know, that's what I'll fix, just like with the airplane you submitted for the first poster.
