  1. Pretty much the way I feel. This is the first sim ever where the low and slow fly it by hand VFR guys did not get the short end of the stick. In fact we may have gotten the only part of the stick that is working well right now. I know its going to make me sound like a jerk but I cant help but laugh about that a bit. Its literally been twenty five years in the making. If it takes ASOBO 24 years to make this right for the airline crowd they still did better than me by a year. Kind of an aside story; Every time I get a new sim I drag my brother over to take a look. He is a non compter guy with not much interest in aviation. Every sim befor this was met with pretty much a ho hum reaction. When I showed him FS 2020 for the first time flying over our home town on the west coast of FL. the first words out of his mouth were "you can fly this one by site". Out of the mouths of babes comes wisdon.
  2. Should have next week; spec are 10900k 32 gigs 3200 Nvidia 2080 super. 3080 if Nvidia ever actually builds one. 125 dl speed NVM 1T drive Hoping to run it 4K on high settings medium density area (west coast of Florida Tampa down to keys). I am happy with 30 FPS. Have a feeling I will end up on 1440 to achieve that especially if I wonder into Miami airspace. TIA
  3. Its great for low and slow VFR in cessna. Otherwise your right. Not sure why it matters for the heavy crowd anyways. When you spend most of your time 30 thousand plus feet on auto pilot the other sims cut it just fine.
  4. The installation debacle could have been easily avoided also by offering the initial installation on physical media. A 128 gig thumb drive is only 15 bucks FS Standard Download 60 bucks FS Standard (thumb drive) 75 "The answers to most problems are simple. It is only when we ignore those simple answers that our problems become complex". I forget who said that but it should be on the wall somewhere at the ASOBO offices.
  5. The elephant in the room no ones is talking about is the Xbox factor. I dont see the xbox crowd being "patient" or "understanding". There idea of giving it time to mature will probably be measured in weeks and if you think criticism of this sim is harsh in flight sim forums the xbox crowd will show even less mercy. Once they are lost MS will have to make a decision on whether or not its worth keeping the servers running that this sim depends on. They keep touting 10 years of support but the reality is it may be the shortest lived support for a MSFS ever. ASOBO is up against a wall here and judging from there first few patches I dont think they are up to the task.
  6. Well there are a lot of people in your camp and there will also be lots of people tell you its on your end but something is wrong for sure. What worries me is exactly what you mentioned about the sim ever being right. They have made 3 patch attempts and a hot fix and they dont have much to show for it except down graded graphics quality which they call performance upgrades. If ASOBO thinks turning down LOD and AA are performance upgrades we dont have much to look forward to.
  7. Anyone else noticing that the AA has got worse after the latest update. I had things pretty good prior to the update but now I am getting the bad old ants crawling on the horizon effect. I have played around with Nvidia settings to no avail. Just checking to see if its not just me and my PC. TIA
  8. Thanks for the reply's guys. Got an email a few minutes ago and there estimate for shipping is 11/5. Not to shabby. Wish I had the confidence and patience to do my own build but the last time I built a PC 512 megs of RAM was considered high but it ran FS 2000 reasonably well. I suspect a lot of things have changed since then.
  9. Anyone using a PC from this company for flight sim. I ordered a slightly customized unit form them last week and all I have herd so far is order received in a single email. Its slightly customized but nothing special. No 30 series nvidia card that would understandably increase wait time for god knows how long. Of course they waisted no time billing me. Billing departments always seem to work quick. Providing the product not so much.
  10. Something that strikes me as odd is the fact that the flight sim community appears to more effective at fixing the bugs in this sim than ASOBO. That cant be a vary good sign of things to come or long term support for this product.
  11. Not that difficult to sort out If you are in the mood for a more study level flight fire up xplane. You probably have that installed already. If your in the mood for a GA VFR with accurate scenery fire up FS 2020. You can have that for much less than 100 bucks. AT any rate that's what I do; but that's just me I could be wrong
  12. Cant lay it all on rupert especially if it was purchased day of release. I followed the development of this sim from day one and there were still plenty of, shall we say, unpleasant surprises for me when I actually got to start using it. The only way to have known would have been to hold off on the purchase and followed forums like this. At any rate, there does seem to be an abnormal amount of complaints about this product. They cant all be wrong.
  13. Ya; your not alone judging from the multitudes of complaints I have seen. I am a low and slow GA type so its working for me at the moment. The C152 appears to be the best plane and the photogrammetry scenery in the area I fly in is a giant leap forward. If MS/ASOBO wanted to put it out as early as the did they should have been more up front about the problems that they had to have known existed with the sim. Would have avoided a lot of angry customers like yourself and I doubt that that many people would have not bought into to it in a "early state" but you know how things can be when money is involved. Tends to make otherwise logically minded people do things they normally would not do.
  14. Where I parked at work has a dock and small beach only 60 or so feet from where my car is parked. I can beach the Icon there and might be able to see my parked car from the plane itself.
  15. I got lucky with the photogrammetry also. I can pretty much start north of Tampa at Cedar key which has the distinction of being Florida's shortest paved runway and fly the coast line all the way down to Key West and its all pretty much photogrammetry. Its a good possibility that you could put me anywhere along that path and I could tell you where I am just by looking out the window. Not possible in other sims that for sure. I guess I should try to keep this in mind the next time I am frustrated by all the bugs. If they get em fixed this is the best sim I have owned hands down.
  16. Everyone always fly's over there house to see how it looks but what about your car. I use to work at a bait shop on the west coast of FL. Evidently when the satellite passed over to take the pic I was at work. My little red car is there in the gravel parking lot as is my co workers white station wagon. They are not vary high res but if you know what your looking for its there. I will have to admit this is pretty amazing and I really did not think I would live to see the day when this kind of thing is in a flight sim Only problem now is; according to FS 2020 I am stuck in the hell of always being at work. I will submit that as a bug complaint. My car does not mirror my current location......come on ASOBO get your act together:)
  17. This particular chimp has only paid 26 bucks through game pass so far but there has been a lot of union/strike talk around the water cooler.
  18. Its not possible for asobo to hire an infinite number of chimps so you need to wait for the fix while they are working with the number of chimps they have on hand at the moment.
  19. Just think if MS had done a pre release of sorts featuring just the cessna 152 so they could have a functional airplane and show off the scenery advancements and held back on everything else until more of the bugs had been dealt with. Right now everyone would be singing there praise and looking forward to the full release. But as it turns out they seem to have a good share of unsatisfied customers angrily waiting for the next patch. But that's just me I could be wrong. I have been told that I dont understand how business works.
  20. I am low and slow VFR type myself. This is the first sim ever that makes this type of flying truly possible/realistic out of the box provided you are in a photogrammetry area and I have experienced little to no problems. For those wanting to fly more commplex aircraft/ifr/ils etc. Waiting a few months for the bugs to get ironed out should be no problem. Us VFR guys have been waiting 30 years or better.
  21. I live in the area and would be glad to consult. Been using flight sims for twenty years but not one real flying lesson. Check out XForcePC channel on you tube this will give you some good ideas about the type of PC, yokes etc. They also sell PCs specifically geared toward flight sims along with other necessary hardware. Problem is getting your hands on any of this stuff right now. Everything seems to be low to no stock right now.
  22. Dont forget to check your PSU if you opt to upgrade to a 30 series GPU. They are power hungry. Judging from the info you supplied in regards to your question you seem perfectly computer savvy to me. Or at least as savvy as me. I sitl have a herd tim useing spell checked.:)
  23. Like the title says. Or... If you think it already does list your specs/add ons/tweeks/settings. I have seen on other forums that some people are of the opinion that the patches are lowering scenery quality in exchange for improved performance. Personally I do think something was changed with photogrammetry buildings. If memory serves they were of better quality pre patches or draw distance was changed. Could just be the "wow factor" started to ware off and I started noticing the imperfections more but there are certainly no problems in the trailers.
  24. sounds like you may have been able to get your hands a 3080?? If so how do you like it so far.
  25. I have noticed lately that having PG on is producing the melted blob look for all of the buildings. If memory serves this was not the case when I first starting using the sim. They dont even improve when I am right over the top of them. They were present on the side of my hometown runway from day one and look like a cross between a building and vegetation. Now they are everywhere all the time. I am hoping this is not something that has been done intentionally and will be fixed in the next patch as this would be a deal killer for me if it is. Scenery is the saving grace of this sim right now and probably should not have been messed with. Its like this guys problem
