  1. I forgot to add my 'vote' for the top pic as well. The bottom one looks.... unrealistic .... is the best word I can use.
  2. Looks to my untrained eyeballs that his view of 'scenery' is mostly blocked by the two smaller monitors representing the dashboard? Kinda defeats the purpose IMHO.
  3. AppData is a hidden file, so you need to set your File Explorer accordingly to find it.
  4. I added the FS Community folder to my Quick Access folder in File Explorer - simple to find and easy to drop files there for future use in the game.
  5. I'm having no internet related issues at 100mbps with XFinity. I'm sure I'd see some 'improvement' with a pricier PC, but what I have functions well enough for now.
  6. Maybe folk in the Cockpit Builders forum here have them? I dunno - I iz 'po' folk' and fly with the Logitech yoke and quadrant and some Thrustmaster rudder pedals - :pilot:
  7. Just wondering - do you have rudder pedals? Did you set the system for AUTO RUDDER? What controllers do you use and for what planes?
  8. It is a VERY simple process with VERY few steps. 1. Report the bug to the game developers at https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new 2. Post the bug HERE at FlightSim so that the community can share your discovery and often provide a solution, but sometimes not. 3. Keep experimenting with this wonderful flight sim and enjoy your role (like all of ours) as a private unpaid troubleshooter for Asobo and the Microsoft gang with the laudable goal of solving all the glitches and killing all the bugs in as short a time as humanly possible. 4. Continue to enjoy the true wonder of flight at a tiny percentage of the costs associated with learning to fly and then fueling, maintaining and insuring a real airplane. I've been an EAA member (though non-pilot) for more decades than I care to remember but simming has indeed been there just as long to keep my passion for aviation alive and well.
  9. Also IF you have added the C152X free add-on? Then you lose the Training sections.
  10. You've probably already eliminate this - but the APPS DATA file is a hidden folder - you have to activate the Show Hidden Files feature. There has been a post recently about this here.
  11. So, I fly out of Midway Airport in Chicago in a C152, two miles from where I live. I am able to follow excellent recreations of ALL the streets in my neighborhood and pass over MY house, reasonably depicted by the way.. The issue you ask? When I do a slow circling over my garage and the big tree that is next to it?? I cannot ever see the two squirrels that I KNOW FOR A FACT live in that there tree!?!?! And don't even get me started about the absence of the three feral cats I know wander my alley. What a bad flight sim!!!!! I WANT A REFUND!~!! OK, YES this is meant as satire and humor(humour for friends across the pond) as my feeble response to some of the scenery complaints in posts I've been reading lately. C'mon boys and girls.... Asobo folks were charged to model THE WORLD! as realistically as they could given the obvious constraints of trying to realistically model the entire flippin' surface of this here PLANET! Cut 'em some slack why don't ya'? YES, of course WE are the true beta testers and bug finders... over a million of us to date, and so most of the serious bugs WILL get sorted out much quicker than if Microsoft held up release until their smaller cadre of beta testers could perhaps discover a lot of them over the next two years. We will find nearly all of them in just a few months. Way to go Asobo says I, keep up the hard work of bug squashing. I for one anyway am having loads of fun flying in this new sim world experience while the necessary improvements get rolled out.
  12. One alternate way is to go to the GENERAL window and turn DEVELOPERS to ON - at the top left in a black ribbon select OPTIONS and then Show FPS. A running display will appear in the top right of the game screen. A great way to go back & forth to check how setting changes affect FPS on your PC.
  13. I took two flights this morning in my little C152X - One off a listed tiny grass strip airport in the middle of peaceful Amish Country in N/E Indiana to fly over my brother's home, the other off a listed tiny grass strip airport in the N/E Illinois Chain O Lakes region to overfly my son's new lake home on Pistakee Lake. Took some screen shots that 'looked like' they were taken from my cell phone in a real C152. Positively stunning recreations. The plane flew and reacted to the ground terrain quite realistically IMHO both in sound and in handling characteristics. Also IMHO light years ahead of my FSX-SE sim.
  14. I just finished the Windows 10 Update to 2004 and started FS. Press Any Key now works..... go figure.lol
  15. I have submitted a report to the Zendesk that when I begin to load the game and the PRESS ANY KEY message appears, no matter which key I press, nothing happens. However if I press the WINDOWS KEY + TAB to enter Desktop Mode and then return to the game, any key does allow the game to proceed with loading and it runs fine. Curious glitch it is, but at least I can still get the game to load using that work-around.
  16. Same here - no dimmer capability anymore. Will be reverting back to the base 152 model for my next flights till a 152X mod is done. edit - I just now tried the base model 152 but my brightness knob does NOT dim the overhead light as it did with the pre-patch 152X mod..
  17. My GTX1050 with 2GB was not up to the task either, the program loaded and worked "OK" but I did get an error message each time it loaded that it might not work. I chose to upgrade to a GTX1650 with 4GB - the most my HP Pavilion desktop power supply could handle - and now that I meet the "recommended" specs the game runs well at settings that deliver 32-43FPS+ in all scenarios so far. Prior to buying FS I also added a 1TB SSD as my primary drive rather than a standard spinning HD. To run FS20 at all Ultra settings? I'd be shopping for a new desktop that exceeds the "Ideal" specs. Which I'm not going to do, mid-level is just fine and does NOT disappoint.
  18. I used an IR head tracker (Grass Monkey's Odyssey) in FSX-SE. Today I was able to get it up & running in FS20 without issues by changing the OpenTrack output to "Freetrack 2.0 Enhanced". No other adjustments needed. I just have to remember to start OpenTrack before firing up the Sim. VERY convenient for looking around the cockpit & outside scenery. A lot more 'natural' than using my Logitech Yoke's hat switch.
  19. MY bad on this one. I do have the C152X loaded into the hard to find Community folder. I did not realize how long you had to turn that dimmer knob to see the effect. I now can control how bright the over head floodlight appears. Yay! and thanks to those who responded. FWIW, once I finally found the durn hidden file FS "Community" folder, I added it to my Windows 10 QUICK VIEW folder to simplify and speed up saving any new add-ons as I acquire them. (I already have my eyes on that Kitfox)
  20. After you click on the "globe" section and choose an airplane, airport (you only need select departure runway)etc just click on the FLY button on the lower right hand side of the screen. That will take a couple minutes to then load those parameters and you'll see an overhead view of that airport. Again click on the FLY button (lower right) and you'll be in the cockpit ready to go. Happy Flying
  21. True, cockpit diagrams I found online indicate that turning the knob that is present in the sim which IS rotationally functional 'should' increase/decrease the brightness of the overhead floodlight, but at present it does nothing. Without a dimming capability night flying is like driving at night with your interior dome lights on. Great for seeing inside but not so great for viewing outside.
  22. "A rose by any other name?" What it's called sure sounds to me like a real 1st world make-believe problem with a game of make-believe yer flyin'.- lol
