As a great FS2004 developer once said.. Simming is all about Fun, Facts & Fiction..! That retro look is actually quite nice. It's no secret that I love, & have quite a few themed installs of FS2004. Now imagine flying in that retro scenery!! I'll be happy even with a retro city or airport.. Flying Blimps & other steampunk planes.

Any word if the OP got the sim working?

Did you have a look at the properties of the FS9.cfg.. Tried to run in XP Compatibility Mode & as Administrator? That should make things work. By the way, in my experience, no need to have a separate partition for FS2004 at all. I have a couple of installs, Golden Wings & Silver Wings both running off a 2TB portable drive, and a 'Normal' version running off my C:\FS2004 drive. No issues running off the portable drive at all.

Yes, Orbyx has both the Aeroplane Heaven C-47 & the DC-3, both formally payware, now free. Some great stuff here, including the A2A B-17 Freeware - Orbx (orbxdirect.com)

It does become 2nd nature, after a while.. One of those mysteries again.

I'm using Edge in Windows 11 & it always happens to me as well. I just 'Keep' it & carry on. It's really a 'non issue'!

By the way, if you had purchased the software, NMG would obviously have supported it. Now that they have released all their older software as freeware, they do state, with the (free) download ;.. We do not offer any support for this scenery. You download, install and use this scenery entirely on your own. So, I'm not sure why the complaint?

So, you have a complaint about software that was originally payware, for many years, & is now Freeware! (as NMG is only concentrating on MSFS) Did you contact NMG at all, with regard to your complaint? The first stop, for any queries, complaints & even praise, should be with the developers of the software. My vote, to improve dialogue between users AND developers, is to contact developers FIRST, before posting complaints, that possibly could be resolved, on a public forum.

I have, thanks. There are some great looking F1 type cars that could be fun. Some are better than others & most work in my P3Dv4.5 & I've also found that Dirk Stuck's cars & quad bikes work well.

I would love to get some of them.. such as: Le Mans Jags, Cobra's, Ford GT 40's, McLarens, Lambo's Indy's, the Classic series etc... Tracks? (apart from Lime) There are a couple in the library, and completing the collection could be fun.

As I've said, I've been simming since pre FS004 days, and I've gone through most, if not all of Microsoft's sims. I've regarded FSX as the Vista, or dog of sims. FSX:SE (Steam) is actually far better. I really tried to get into FSX, but FS2004 still gave/gives a far better range of add-ons that I prefer. Unlike FSX, FS2004 works on virtually any PC, & we used FS2004 at our VA on a standard Celeron PC, with 4GB RAM with an integrated GPU, in a simulator that we built on a trailer, using freeware South African scenery. We also used FS2004 on our PC's at our youth upliftment VA academy on about 20 PC's. It gave a very immersive feel to our simming. So, whhat sim is better? The simple answer is the one that gives you the most fun. Immersion, for me, gives me more pleasure than realism. The late Garry Smith (of The Ford Tri-Motor Project) always told us that simming is all about Fun, Facts & Fiction.

And I'm still here, after 20 years of simming. The good old days of the VA club I belonged to. WE met every second Saterday. The first thing we did was to unload our cars, as decent laptops were non-existant then The days of disconnecting the tower, mouse, keyboard & 2 CRT monitors, then reconnecting everything in our clubhouse, & hearing the dreaded beeps on switch-on. All was fine when we opened the tower & made sure RAM was seated correctly. Then having hours of fun, then disconecting everything & starting the loading cycle over again. Good days indeed. & I'm still using FS2004,& it is still well supported by fantastic freeware guys. I also use P3D4.5, but my heart in with FS2004, with it's range of Golden Aviation scenery & planes. The Ford Tri-Motor project still keeps me very busy, with it's Factual, Fun & Fictitious projects, all unique to the older sim. Cheers, Robin

Hi all, I'm alive, fit & fighting since my accident. I did pretty much get broken when I was knocked over by a taxi. Long story short, Seven months in hospital, seven operations, & three kidney dialysis, broken pelvis in 3 places, ribs, broken right arm, broken fingers & a plate in my hand. I did loose my leg three months after the accident, due to muscle & nerve damage. Hopefully, in a couple of months time, I will be fitted with a prosthetic leg, Yippee, so I'll be able to dust off & use my CHProducts pedals. I had to start all over again, with FS2004, as my laptop & portable drives (my library) just happened to get stolen while I was in hospital. I had 20 years of downloads on them, a lot from sites that are no longer with us. So, I'm still very much around, thanks so much for your thoughts. Regards, Robin
