  1. For tons of other issues, go to this sacred document: Jorgen
  2. I think you can forget about the "broken capacitors", because: 1. If they are really broken, your computer would quit working altogether, and 2. They are on the motherboard or other circuit boards, and most likely surface-mounted, in which case you would have to be a trained technician to replace them, and (again) 3. To find out which are broken, you would need the manufacturer's testing software for the involved boards. The best solution all around for you is, budget allowing, to look for a new computer... But adding a fan is certainly going to help, and when you get around to re-pasting, remember to use the paste sparingly. Jorgen
  3. I need to ask you why you have this fascination with the versions of SimConnect? If you, after a reinstall, leave SimConnect completely alone, do you get the crashes then? Jorgen
  4. Use a can of compressed air to clean the computer, as JSkorna said. But do have a helper ready with a vacuum cleaner to catch the blown-out dust, there could be a lot of it. And if you have the system unit on the floor, then don't! Get a stepstool, a small shelf, some books or what you can find and get it off the floor, that's where dust goes. Jorgen
  5. The cause of the crash is indicated here: Exception code: 0xc0000005 This tells us that "something" attempted to write to an area of RAM where "something" had no access rights. There is nothing, however, that says directly what this "something" is. But in all the cases of this exception code that I have seen, with FSX or P3D, the "something" has turned out to be a badly programmed or incompatible add-on. So I would propose this course of action: find a flight and a point in the flight where the CTD is guaranteed to occur. Then uninstall your add-ons one at a time and retry the flight until the CTD no longer occurs. Or, if you prefer, do a clean install of FSX only, redo the flight to make sure that it does not occur in a default install, and then install your add-ons, again one at a time - you get the drift. If you elect to do the reinstall, then do yourself a favor and create a folder, for instance called D:\FSX, and install into that. Even if you turn UAC off, the \Program Files folders are still protected folders. The SimConnect question is beyond me, as I don't have FSX any more. Let us know how it goes - Jorgen
  6. Flight1 seems to be very much alive: https://www.flight1.com/ Jorgen
  7. I believe that on Lorby-SI's page, here: https://www.lorby-si.com/ there is also a tool that does what you want. Jorgen
  8. "Again I ran the Microsoft Net.Framework repair tool" - did you go out on the web and search for .NET Framework, then get what you could find (from Microsoft only), both x86 and x64 versions, and install them all, as I outlined above? The repair tool will only repair what you have already. Jorgen
  9. Pomak, I agree with that it obviously did work. But let's see if the .NET Framework fix works. Jorgen
  10. And from Mr. Zip's post, the exception code, like this one: Exception code: 0xc0000005 is the really important thing. Jorgen
  11. When I searched this exception code: 0xe0434352 on the web, what I saw pointed to a .NET Framework error. So what I would do here is to search for and get everything about the .NET Framework from Microsoft and install it, both x86 and x64 versions. After those are installed, reboot and run Windows Update, and in Update under Advanced options, make sure that the switch "Receive updates for other Microsoft products" is set to On. Leave that switch on On in the future. If this doesn't make it work, I'm afraid you have dud on your hands, and I would write Simmarket, tell them the whole story, and urge them to pull the product from their lineup. Jorgen
  12. You are absolutely correct, the Retro board is a treasure trove, with tons of plans. For retro military, MAIW has a lot of plans and aircraft: https://militaryaiworks.com/ For contemporary traffic, AIG is the place: https://www.alpha-india.net/forums/index.php Both AIG and MAIW require registration, but are free. Jorgen
  13. What came to my mind instantly: contact Lockheed Martin, as P3D is marketed for corporate and military training. Jorgen
  14. At for instance AIG. But - there's always a but - not many 747-100's are flying any more, and not many -200's or -300's either. Bottom line, though, it sounds like you need an introduction to AI, and I don't know what's available these days, having learned the art of AI over years by trial and error - many errors! Maybe someone knows of something here? Jorgen
  15. Did you also get an AI flight plan for this aircraft? Without one, it will not show up anywhere. Jorgen
  16. "Reaching out to the game's support team". What a joke, Microsoft ended support years back, wasn't it in 2012? Unless, of course, this is a would-be spammer, which we see on the forums at prepar3d.com. Jorgen
  17. You could try P3D, and see if you like it. There is a 14-day money-back option. And v. 5.4 just came out. Jorgen
  18. There is a lot of retro AI traffic flight plans available here: https://retroai.proboards.com/ and links to models and paints, many of which are P3D-compatible. FSX aircraft models will also work in P3D, textures should be converted to .dds, and there's a utility available for that called bmp2dds. Jorgen
  19. HJG and CalClassic are both available for P3D, including for v. 5. I have them myself. I know from an announcement on MAIW that they are developing for MSFS, but I have not seen the finished product yet. And yes, from what I saw when I had MSFS on my system, it was visually stunning - and all eye-candy. The flight model issues it has are not shared by P3D, which actually has different flight models for different aircraft, which MSFS did not have at least at that time. P3D more or less uses the FSX flight models, and the file structure is about the same. Also, the structure of and parameters in FSX.CFG is similar to prepar3d.cfg. If one is used to FS9 or FSX, the logical way to go is P3D - which, BTW, is not a dead end. Updates for it are just not coming out in the same tempo as for MSFS... Jorgen
  20. I do not know where MSFS stands today on the topics of AI traffic and military aircraft, since I only had it on my system for about 30 minutes when it first came out. But these are areas where P3D shines - or at least can be made to shine. Jorgen
  21. Nels, I positively HATE to differ with you - sort of. If by "largest choice in add-ons" you mean ready-out-of-the-box, then you may be right - I don't know a thing about MSFS add-ons. But I will say that tons, tons and tons, of add-ons that are out there for FSX and the early versions of P3D can be used with P3D v. 5 - I do that myself. You have to run many sceneries through a small converter utility that you can find on AIG, but then they do indeed work. AI aircraft for FSX work, and flight plans for FSX too - FS9 flight plans have to be converted to the FSX format, but that was true for FSX also. Just my bent nickel's - well, 5 Euro-cent's worth. Jorgen
  22. I should clarify my previous answer...: 1. Go for a 64-bit P3D, at present those available are v. 4.5 HF3 and v. 5.3 HF2. That way you don't have to deal with the 4 GB VAS from the 32-bit versions (and FSX). 2. Check the system requirements, because: 2a. You did not specify how "high-endish" your system is, and 2b. The different versions have different requirements. And if you have any questions, please ask here or in the P3D forums. Jorgen
  23. I am biased - but go for Prepar3D. Check the system requirements first, though. Jorgen
  24. Or short-circuit Microsoft and get FSX:SE... no such issues there! Jorgen
  25. I have tinkered a bit, and found out the reason I get the crashes with this scenery is that the AFCAD does not have a runway defined. In fact, when you look at the "runway" in ADE it is actually a taxiway! At least that causes the crash in P3D v. 5, I cannot say if it also does that in P3D v. 4 or in FSX - but I would suspect so. So what I did is learn to make a runway in ADE, which was not as difficult as I thought. Once I had RWY 04/22 defined and oriented (oriented was the tricky part), I laid it over the existing taxiway (that was imitating the runway) and things were fine. All this may sound cryptic, but when you're in ADE it is obvious. The end result is a great rendering of the airport. The total amount of time I spent on this, including learning time, was about 40 minutes. I don't know if I can or should post the AFCAD here, because A: for copyright reasons, and B: because it's compiled for P3D v. 5, with the v. 5 SDK... Jorgen
