  1. I will try to answer your questions in order: 1. FSX:SE (as the Steam version is usually called) is a downloadable version of FSX Acceleration, with a couple of fixes thrown in. It does not require an online connection to run, and does not have a disk version. 2. Yes, it works fine with Windows 10. 3. Not true. The installation is straightforward - it is the path to which it installs by default that take some users by surprise. 4. No. 5. Yes. 6. For all practical purposes, it IS FSX Acceleration. 7. By far the most add-ons for FSX, scenery, aircraft etc., will work on FSX:SE. I have not heard of any that do not work. 8. You MIGHT, if you are lucky, and on a good day, be able to find a copy of the disk FSX. If you are even luckier, you MIGHT find a virgin (never used) copy, but that is extremely unlikely. Stay away from such (unless a virgin copy), you might easily have activation problems. 9. A Steam account is an account you establish with the Steam Portal, enabling you to access the Steam library of games. Establishing such an account is free. 10. When you have a Steam account, search their game library. You pay using a debit or credit card, and then download it. If you have any questions, then just ask away - but ask HERE, please. Jorgen
  2. I could not say if such an off-the-shelf program is "worth it". My take on AI is fundamentally different: I "collect" AI flight plans from various sites, and then download and install the aircraft involved from yet other sites. I have now just over 10,300 flight plans active.... and it's all freeware! Jorgen
  3. Steve, that question is one I have asked in a couple of places also. If I run into a solution I will post it here. Jorgen
  4. They are automatically installed. Jorgen
  5. If you haven't done it already, then move your OS disk to SSD... you'll be wondering why you haven't done that long ago. Boot times that you will not believe! Jorgen
  6. My bad, this is what I should have said - put the downloaded file in the main FSX folder, and nowhere else, and if there is one there already, overwrite it. Jorgen
  7. It is the one in the main FSX folder - and ONLY that one - that you should replace with the downloaded version. The one in Windows\System32 must be left alone. Jorgen
  8. I am sorry to rain on your parade, but the uiautomationcore.dll fix has been known for many years, including in the forums on this site. This fix is actually incorporated in FSX:SE. Emptying the temp folders has no effect on running FSX. Jorgen
  9. Allow me a quote: "I've tried contacting RAZBAM directly via their store page and social media; however, I have not received any response from them." In such a case, demand your money back - I mean, DEMAND! They made the product and gladly took your money, they own the support obligations. Jorgen
  10. Skip, P3D v. 5.2 has been out for quite a while now. Step 1 to resolve your issue: upgrade to that version. Jorgen
  11. Google AIFP and read all about AI on the AIG website. Jorgen
  12. I cannot answer that particular question, since I don't use the AIG Manager. I install flightplans using AIFP, and then I add the AI aircraft or liveries "manually". Jorgen
  13. Microsoft cannot and will not help because support for FSX ended long ago, and none of their techs know FSX nowadays. A way around your issues would be to buy FSX:SE, also known as FSX Steam, which sells cheaply at Steam sales and also comes with Acceleration built-in. Jorgen
  14. Other things you might need to try are reducing LOD_RADIUS and the resolution in FSX.CFG. Jorgen
  15. Well, if I go under "Latest additions" I can download from there just fine. But, when I search for "estafeta", I click download on the right, and on the next screen I get a link to a file name at the bottom of the screen. It is when I click on that link that I get the error. Jorgen
  16. It has been a while (!) since I installed FSX, but as far as my ailing memory goes, there will be a button labeled "Options" on one of the very first installation screens. That sould give you the option to install to where you want. Jorgen
  17. Haven't tried Edge yet, but my Firefox is also 91.0.2 (64-bit). I also tried with anti-virus turned off, no go either. Edge is the next step  Thanks, guys - Jorgen Edit: same problem with Edge....
  18. I am sorry to mention the competition here, but since yesterday I am having a problem downloading from AVSIM. The problem exists both in Chrome and in Firefox. I get this error: Oops! An Error Occurred The server returned a "500 Internal Server Error". Has anyone else experienced that, and has maybe anyone found a workaround? Thanks - Jorgen
  19. Hi Mick, Thanks for that address, I will try it. And yes, to get to the support forum you have to be logged in.... Jorgen
  20. Gentlemen, I have been trying to log into Simmershome, but my username and password there has been invalidated because of a system reorganization on the site. There is no newcomer registration there as far as I can see, and the "lost password" function does not work because they do not recognize my old user name. Does anyone know how to get around this? Thanks in advance - Jorgen
  21. The model is the basic aircraft "skeleton", onto which you hang the texture - as you say, the livery. Many FSX replacement models can be found on the AIG website. And. as Wim says, the WoAI flightplans should be deleted, they are hopelessly outdated. Jorgen
  22. In this case, I feel that a resurrection of this old thread is justified! What I would suggest is some replacement mesh of the area, if available. There used to be a free product named FreeMesh, but as far as I can see their website was closed some time ago. Jorgen
  23. SInce the thread is 5 years old, I don't think you'll get a response..... Jorgen
  24. What is the free space reported on the C: and F: drives? On a SSD, you have to run "Defragment and optimize your drives" from Windows Control Panel from time to time to mark space previously used by deleted files reusable again - this will NOT defragment a SSD! So you need to run that at least on the F: drive, and if C: is a SSD on that also. Also, go into C:\Users\\Temp and delete everything in there. Jorgen
  25. On my Windows 10 system, FSX was working fine with this driver version until a few days ago. A few days ago? I had FSX, P3D v. 4.5 and P3D v. 5 installed, and it was simply too much work to keep everything updated, even with my copious free time as a retiree. So now I only have P3D v. 5.... Jorgen
