  1. Getting away from it all in sunny Rio. I figured I was safe. 2000 feet up is enough social distancing? Yes? -- Bob more in reply...
  2. Guess it decided it couldn't compete with the rest of the world blowing its top. :( -- Bob
  3. The hardest part was finding things. The built-in map is useless and most plug in maps don't show such small features. So it's GoogleEarth on one screen MSFS on the other. Thankfully the sim is faithful enough to navigate by landmarks. -- Bob
  4. Well done! Video is essential. Pictures just don't do it justice. Experienced a bit of that on a trip through Wales years ago. We got buzzed by a pair of Tornados. Quite the surprise. -- Bob
  5. All that wing needs is a Gremlin and true realism would be achieved. :) There I go showing my age again. :o -- Bob
  6. Mammoth Hot Springs. Excelsior Geyser Crater. Grand Prismatic Spring. Upper Geyser Basin and Old Faithful. Thanks for coming along on this nature trip. -- Bob
  7. Across much of Yellowstone starting from Cody, Wyoming along the North Fork Highway. Buffalo Bill Reservoir. Yellowstone Lake Yellowstone Canyon. more in reply...
  8. Amazing! But I gotta say, those pushback guys are getting kind of annoying. Especially when they're in your way and can't actually push you back! -- Bob
  9. Nope. Doesn't ring any bells with me. (remember Jan, Adam bad, Bob good) :o -- Bob (good)
  10. And here I thought La Tour de France was a bicycle race. Keep 'em coming. We've got a lot of world to cover. :pilot: -- Bob
  11. Looks like an on-the-money landing to me. I'm not a jet guy but I still appreciate the majesty of a big bird. -- Bob
  12. This is some of your Brest work David. (Somebody had to say it) And I feel a right tit for doing so. :p -- Bob
  13. If they could simulate the food and wine they'd have a real hit on their hands. :p -- Bob
  14. On the other side of the Arno now passing Piazzale Michelangelo. Every bus tour's favorite stop. Ponte Vecchio. the only bridge not bombed during WWII. Originally a meat market (beacause the could dump the offal into the river) now the exclusive domain of gold vendors and jewellers. The Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens behind that. Still and more of the Boboli Gardens. (no relation) Heading south from Florence over endless fruit farms and orchards. Getting on in the day so I needed a bit of cabin lighting. Looking for Aerosuperfice Empoli. Another confoundingly blank strip of grass. It's right there in the middle of the shot. Can you see it... me neither! So I landed pretty close and taxied over. Again... sorry signore. Glad you came along for the tour. Grazie mille. Ciao!
  15. Continuing the flight to Florence... I stopped in the town of Mugello just north of Florence to change planes. A classic city deserves a classic airplane. As you might notice this airstrip was a bit of a pain to find on the way in. I actually landed in the neighbor's field before figuring out where it was. Sorry signore. Oddly enough this small town has a Formula 1 track right next to it. As Johnny Carson* would say, "I did not know that." (* Tonight Show host during the late Jurrasic) This oddly shaped lake interested me enough to look for it on Google Earth. A Roman villa! Some VIP's secret getaway? Nope just a country restaurant and social club. Awww. Over Sesto Fiorentino and our first good look at Florence in the middle distance. Peretola airport. If those runway ends get displaced any further it won't be long enough for an ultralight? The Arno river and its many bridges. Yup, the usual solid bridge problem. First good look at the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio. Piazza della Republica and the famous Caffé Gilli. As their site says: Florence's living room for 270 years. Amazingly faithful reproduction of this coplex maze of buildings. more in reply...
  16. Just park it with his trains and leave the key in the mailbox. He'll notice it eventually. -- Bob
  17. That's a whale of a tail my friend... a whale of a tail. :) I've always thought these imaginative custom liveries were better advertising than all the TV spots combined. I wish there were more of them. -- Bob
  18. I'm pretty sure it's a rock slide but, yeah, I thought it was cool too. You never know what you're going to see in this sim. Thanks. -- Bob
  19. Leaving Miramare airport west across the Most Serene Republic of San Marino (not Dan Marino). San Marino is entirely within Italy and is just 61 km² with a population of roughly 33,000. It is actually one of the weathiest countries in Europe per capita with a GDP of 1.5 billion. This sceney does not show the three medieval towers guarding the high points along the crest. However it is a fair representation of the area. The rest is scenery on the way to Florence. Part 2 will be along soon. :) -- Bob
  20. I can't tell you how many times I've put myself in that situation in Flight Simming. Usually a box canyon. It rarely ends well. :o -- Bob
  21. Nice set. Always scenic regardless of the season. :) --Bob
  22. Pretty much our experience from a few days ago. Had the Challenger all warmed up and the winds changed direction and intensified. Some days are just not worth the bouncing around. :( Makes for some nice shots though. :) -- Bob
  23. Haven't been to that part of the world since the late eighties. Great place to be this time of year. I'd love some warm pasties and cider right about now. :) -- Bob
  24. Did you say "Yoot?" ;) -- Bob (love that movie)
  25. http://rlv.zcache.com/how_ya_gonna_keep_em_down_on_the_farm_poster-r30bc1e481bf842a587144bc86e0007f8_i9vql_8byvr_630.jpg? ... in 3D, no less? ;) -- Bob (you know you're old when stuff like this comes to mind)
