  1. Dropped back into FS20 after over a month off it, so this seemed as good as any thread to post my thoughts. Well it still looks very pretty, flying over snow covered Greenland then Labrador coming in over Canada was spectacular. There's no doubt Asobo can do scenery very well. But the core of the sim is still so flawed. take the 747 which I'm using at the moment. Still not reloading the flight plan into the FMC when resuming a saved game. The panel also comes back in a state of disarray - yesterday evening my selected altitude had dropped from 29000 feet to 10000 feet and the speed from 0.84 Mach to 200 knots. It took several attempts at toggling the autothrottle on and off for it to pick up again. This is stuff that should have worked out the box, not still need fixing six months on. Oh and also honourable mention I had to once again play around with all my joystick settings to stop the aircraft pulling left on takeoff and getting no response from the rudder. So my previous impression - great VFR sim (and I am looking forward to checking out the forthcoming UK upgrade) but fairly hopeless for IFR and heavy iron - still applies.
  2. First time on the game in nearly a month. Hoping this update gets and keeps me flying once more.
  3. Apparently a few keyboard commands became unassigned with the last update, notably the arrow/cursor keys for changing your view up, down and sideways in the cockpit/flight deck.
  4. Well flying up the NE coast of Scotland, from Inverness to Wick where there should be cliffs, in places you just get the field pattern falling down into the sea.
  5. Silly survey as it keeps throwing you back to an early page when it seems to think you have given a contradictory answer. No indication how much % you have completed either. I gave up and closed the Tab.
  6. Well with my IAS well below the red warning dashes I was getting an overspeed warning last night. It does seem difficult to coax it above Mach 0.80 which seems rather slow for a modern airliner.
  7. Turning the AP off and on again offers a temporary solution. After a few minutes the oscillation starts again.
  8. It has been reckoned the aircraft in FS20 use more fuel than they should even at altitude. You can cheat a bit and just refuel in mid-air from one of the pull down menus. Also by default regardless of your flight plan, the planner always initially just loads 50% of fuel, you have to increase that and the manifest load manually.
  9. It seems for now at least the way to go is "gently does it", on the joystick.
  10. The fact is, all the aircraft are behaving squirrelly and it seems to be since the (undocumented by Azz Booboo) change to how the sensitivity settings and dead zones are set up. I've been playing around with the settings for my Logitech 3D Pro and I just cannot get it back to where it was before. Aircraft whether GA or jet drift around the runway on the takeoff roll and pulling back on the stick get an "instant" digital response rather than a gradual analogue effect. And yes before anyone suggests it, I am in Modern mode not Legacy...
  11. It's a new bug in FS20. I've been experiencing this on all aircraft, GA and jets whenever you click a wheel or knob it starts to spin of its own accord. I reported to Zendesk, would suggest you do the same.
  12. Granny and eggs, but have you clicked the "LS" button "on" on the AP Panel and switched the PFD to Approach mode?
  13. I have found it very difficult to take off in any aircraft since the last update, the GA fleet in particular. Checked all my controller sensitivities etc. but it's as if they aren't there any more, along with ensuring I'm in Modern not Legacy mode - which apparently has been an issue for some users having been switched by the programme for some reason. Even a takeoff roll in the A320 last night had all the controllability of a kite.
  14. It is getting a bit frustrating. At this point firing up XP11 or some of the old classics in FSX seems like a good diversion while we wait for Asobo to fix the latest crop of problems and maybe some of the pre existing ones... :)
  15. The A320 still has issues, for sure. In addition to all the existing baggage, it has inherited the uncontrolled knob spinning from the 747. It made a complete hash of trying to fly the approach into Bucharest and I was also getting the mouse cursor sticking then lagging as I tried to move across the screen.
  16. Okay I will try that, I think the wind direction might have shifted slightly. Also read elsewhere, although it *shouldn't* affect AP flight it looks as if the update has reset sensitivity settings etc. so something might have been ghosting through. Still a bug for Asobo to nail, though.
  17. Seems the default A320 has also picked up the spinning knob bug of the 747. One or two clicks on the AP setting knobs causes them to continue rotating on their own. Oh and settled into steady, level AP all of a sudden the A320 just started rocking/wallowing from side to side, wings alternately dipping and lifting.
  18. The Halloween flight was nice - took me two attempts to eyeball the airport. However 747 AP still resolutely broken. Now seems to hold altitude but continues hunting on the flight path vector. All flight plan lost on reloading saved game. Eventually got the FMC to accept destination airport, but will not fly the ILS approach and just heads straight for the field.
  19. I've done one "hot" start (post patch) and two cold start (clean boots) of the sim and not had any issues fingers and toes firmly crossed). Admittedly the only third party mod have is the A320 one which I evicted from the community folder prior to letting the patcher rip. So it's a bit of an odd one for sure, just relieved to be on the right side of the issue for once.
  20. Lot's of people at Avsim and on the Steam forum reporting the game won't even load fully before encountering a CTD. Downloading now, will see what happens.
  21. https://www.flightsimulator.com/update-5-delay/ Surprised this hasn't been posted already. Looks like they have hit a few snags...
  22. For the Discovery tour that is correct, effectively it is a challenge in all but name - you can't even save and resume later - on a 2hr + flight!
  23. Sorry to take this off at a tangent but do these also work in FSX? I've been to their site and it's not abundantly clear. Unfortunately FS9 seems to have given up the ghost on my current hardware/software configuration but I can still coax FSX to life.
  24. It sounds like my problem may just have been a one off as I was able to load into another saved flight. Of course alarms were going off like crazy and the FMC was devoid of the flight plan, but other than that I could get back in...
