Dear Ann Landers of Flightsim. Oh dear my CPU failed days go and I am in serious MSFS2020 withdrawal. The symptoms are: (a) Irritability and depression (b) Loss of Sleep © Wandering by Flightsim hatch and gazing at empty space where computer was (gone on Warranty replacement) (d) built another RC plane already but that is finished and cannot fly (into BC winter and too old and cold) (e) Spending too much time on Amazon wondering if I could somehow sneak a purchase of a back-up unit which would run MSFS2020 and weighing that against divorce cost. (f) Going into Dealer store to see if I can get a loaner that would run FS Ok. (g) Phoning dealer every day--"How much longer is this going to be? All this on top of loss of medical for flying some time ago and now flying FS 1-1.5 hours every day-- So Dear Ann what to do I am at my wit's end, please advise. :pilot::pilot::pilot:

Hi Kevin--little humour is good once in a while and even the insanity idea was a joke--but on the other hand of your credit card had permitted you to go ahead and purchase for that price you could not blame anyone but yourself for making the purchase. It is not any kind of a scam it says the price. You may not be "insane" but perhaps a little foolish to go ahead with trying to purchase such a thing. But there is a Stradivarius Viola on the market at 45 Million dollars if you are still interested in rare purchases!! All in good humour--yours respectfully John

Just take your community folder separately and then reinstall MSFS2020 much easier than any other method. We are getting so many updates and reinstalls anyway that it does not hurt to go through the exercise.

You are right Tim, but it does lack details in that info/specs option and landing distances, take-off distances are usually missing. I have been creating profiles for Little Navmap and while the MSFS option is useful I usually end up googling the model for more details. And there are still guesses on some.

Yes I did see the comments about lighting up stuff in special colours, but that may not be reason enough to jump into a new Windows version, "bin there before and paid the price" Also Steve yes I actually went through the BIOS in detail looking for the enabling switch in software and it tells me that there is no such thing on my quite new motherboard. But I am holding off and interested in all comments!! J

I see the references to Windows 11 after the update but my online searches indicate the wisdom of not rushing into Windows 11 and besides which my computer does not have the TPM 2.0 needed. Anyone noticed any difference at all after a Windows 11 installation in reference to MSFS2020.

Also use the SoFly manual, but each time it issues an update, it seems to be a new edition and all I am offered is a lower price than the whole new manual, so it does not seem as though updates are free! My last edition was June and today I obtained the Sept edition but paid an additional $12 US for it!! Regards--John

Randy--so far very good, lovely interior and flying characteristics are stable, it is so nice to have a real cockpit once again, MSFS2020 is so full of the same looking glass cockpits, I have missed the old style panels, next I will wait for a really good DC3. Have not tested all instruments yet but so far so good and landing characteristics are excellent. John--good value for the price I think.

My marketplace quit functioning today and I am unable to purchase anything at present, now this may be a blessing in disguise but I was hoping to buy the new Junkers 52 but cannot find any other site to buy it from if this marketplace stays malfunctioning. I did close and reopen the program but did not yet do a windows restart.

yea, it it still an awe inspiring simulator. After 3200 hrs of real world flying, this is the closest I get to being back in the air now that I am grounded. I even do not have VR yet, but lots of instrument panels and honeycomb yoke. Oh and LNMP of course plus navigraph, to try and get good IFR practice. I do have some issues with the flight plans not coordinating but that is part of the fun. I won't give up on it. Might go broke with add-ons and I really wish they would make the updates easier to install. Maybe hire ORBX or Blackbox to sort out the updating methods.

Once again we are forced into the insanity of a mandatory update and referred to the STORE, then to XBox which only recognized me after I took Tim Wright's advice and rebooted my PC before going back to the Xbox app which then recognized me. Then you get the first stage update and MSFS opens and does the actual update. This should all be done inside MSFS2020 on startup. I really do not need a ticket from London to Paris via New York, Mexico City, Beijing, Canberra, Rome, New Delhi and then maybe Paris This total garbage that we have to go through such shenanigans to get an update. Asobo need to completely work this out.:mad::mad::rolleyes:

I have not had serious problems before with MSFS2020 and run a moderate amount of add-ons and Honeycomb yoke etc but today trying to open flightsim it tells me I need an update and to go the microsoft store but when there, there is no information on an update just the usual purchase info (I run the premium deluxe edition) and this does not help me. The program stalls on opening at the update info and then after clicking OK it shuts down. This is just this morning.

On latest updates when I click flight training I only get Airliner training, no longer any basic 172 flight training, it has just disappeared. Really don't want to do a reinstall!!

I have had these for several months and find them sometimes a little touchy but careful adjustment of the rotating adjustment usually fixes it, toe position for comfortable use of the brakes is important and then any fine adjustments within flights on sensitivity is all that is needed. With all that they are a fine set of rudders and on the over-sensitive issue I think as an ex-pilot that most flightsim rudders are too sensitive and push too easily. So overall I am very happy with this set and I just put some fixing system to the floor to stop movement and against a back wall so you can sit comfortably with them.

I have a Weird pilot avatar on Pitts Special--and I end up in his head looking out through wobbly goggles and eyebrows, I want to remove him. I am trying to remember how to remove avatars from individual planes--as the Pitts Special now puts me in the middle of weirdness and it is most distracting to fly the plane. I would like to remove the avatar from this particular plane. I cannot remember the process and file to alter. I would rather have no avatar and just look at the panel. I am aware you can move forward a long way and get in front of him but then the pilots view is not realistic for the panel. Does anyone have the programming alterations on the relevant files.??

Right now if I end a flight and return to main, it dawdles so long that I end up restarting the whole program. Is there a shortcut to changing aircraft?
