  1. yea all back online again now, just an inflight scare, like when you forget to switch tanks
  2. After update to SU9 everything seemed normal but had a CTD after loading a 737 flight and then problems with loading MSFS so did a windows reboot and now had the same message of being offline but it ids online. Video drivers are up to date, Community file half emptied but cannot get program to start to test with an empty Community folder. XBox app tells me it has an error and does not even see my subscription and the program says to insert a MSFS disc to start loading. Have not had problems like this since very first days of MSFS!!
  3. I had no problem, did not even touch the community folder. Go figure!!
  4. Having a community folder really quite full, mixture of airports, planes and various electronic add-ons I wonder if pilots have any insight into add-ons that they have found really slowed the landing time when starting up the program. I have had a few CTDs lately and then of course by doing SAFE mode startup I can see the big difference between the safe mode and normal mode. Sometimes I only see the slowdown after programming a particular IFR flight and then the load up takes so long I have to go and make a coffee. Just interested to hear if anyone has done some COMMUNITY cleanup and found particular add-ons which are really slowing the startup. John
  5. try a right click and open in new tab, it is kind of cute, gives you some random choices anywhere in the world. We do tend to fly familiar routes too often.
  6. The cub crafter X cub has a switch on the panel to turn if off but cannot find anything on the aviat husky.
  7. Anyone know where I can program out the annoying voices for Wheels up and wheels down when choosing amphib flying version?? I cannot find it in the files. I would rather just remember it myself or pay the ultimate price for landing wheels down on the water!!
  8. Plenty of places where there are bridges but the cars are driving in and out of the water, all adds to the fun.
  9. You can adjust rudder settings anyway in "controls" if you need to and flying the Kodiak has not required constant rudder adjustments on my model. Put a video in if you think it does that! Plus if you don't want rudder pedals use a joystick with rotation. Maybe we'll see "unbuyable" soon because it might require aileron controls.
  10. It could have been developed in N America but Asobo did it and perhaps you just need to send them a full list of what you would like to see, there are some excellent software additions already on the market. Just enjoy what there is, it is developing all the time. Besides, we N Americans need to learn a little about Europe!!
  11. ZX-81 or Timex 1000 1982 basic IFR approaches with cassette player
  12. Staggerwing Beech also indicates way too high at altitude, lovely model though.
  13. Today I am in a Fokker VII actually doing the lovely Brian Powell created London-Australia flight by Sir Ross Smith in 1921. I am reading the original book 14,00 Miles through the air, at the same time so getting a good feel for the history. But I am noticing once again that some aircraft (this one included) do not compensate indicated airspeed for altitude and so you still get sea level airspeed indications at 10,000'. I can live with it but having been used to the drop in indicated in my own planes it would seem to need some attention from the talented designers who put together these lovely planes for our enjoyment. I forget which one was the other one I noticed it in the other day but the majority do compensate. I wonder how many pilots run across this issue also??
  14. Hold the alt on the keyboard then move the mouse cursor and watch if it changes to a plus--if not then as cavulife (I wish it always was CAVU) check your keyboard assignments and see what got altered. John
  15. I have just been using it for a few days and had to go back to live traffic as I found the ST was putting way too much traffic around on the ATC which was running almost non-stop but I did not actually see any of the planes that were being reported near to me. It was really quite distracting. Might need to play with settings but generally I have found live traffic to be a OK except sometimes when it is quiet as you say. FPS did not seem affected.
  16. Thanks Paul--so nice to see some airports thriving. Oh and Jim--definitely trim wheels and smoke from diesels and real smoke from countries still running coal LOL
  17. I will give that a try--have the flightsim.to version of Fort Langley--used to fly a Seabee out of the real airport, but it was not paved then, is it actually paved now?? The MSFS2020 is!!
  18. Yup--very simple and quite a number of new Hams only do digital--need a raspberry Pi driven hotspot (or local VHF access that does digital DMR or DSTAR links) and one radio handheld such as Anytone 878 and then go digital either through a local VHF access link or as I do just through my own hotspot and home internet.
  19. You bet and the digital side makes it so much easier, you can still old school if desired but through the internet there are thousands of digital talk groups all over the world.
  20. Having reserved 787 TGIF talk group specifically for ham radio I have started to interest a few friends who are into MSFS 2020 Flight simulator to actually get a basic Ham radio licence and get into digital radio at least. Then we could do some multiplayer using 787 TGIF as a private DMR talkgroup. So I am throwing this out just to see if we might have any Hams interested in the two hobbies. Doing MSFS 2020 with hams would be a blast and and might encourage some members of either hobby to go for another hobby area. John VE7QJD FYI An example of a reasonably cheap DMR radio --all you need .
  21. I would go along with Steve below. Having started flying real planes in 1970 (retired 3200 hours and almost 70 different aircraft) and having instructed on real ones and now on RC planes, I tell all students whether on Flightsim or Rc planes, its just another kind of aircraft they are all different with their own characteristics. Some flightsim models are abysmal and some real planes are just plane !! dangerous. The more types you get in the easier it becomes. Overall MSFS2020 is quite amazing.
  22. I have not yet seen a train on the tracks in the flightsim, lots of vehicles which sometimes do funny things and not even on a highway, but no trains?? Am I missing them somewhere??
  23. Don't have the F-4 but the Twin Otter manual is great and is inside the download, just go to the community folder under Twin Otter
