  1. Thanks. That's a new one for me. There are also some great names to be found on navigation fixes. The one I like the best is a series of fixes on the ILS to Rwy 16 at KPSM which shows ITAWT, ITAWA, PUDYE, TTATT, IDEED (that's what Tweety Bird said as she was being pursued by Sylvester The Cat.)
  2. Welcome to the forum(s). That system should be fine for FSX. Just go to two RAM sticks as Loki suggests and you'll be good-to-go. - Doug
  3. Welcome to the forum(s) Peter. Everything is fine except the RAM size. You really need 32 GB as shown in the Ideal Specs. Having only 16 GB will be a real limiter on performance in dense scenery and with complex aircraft. RAM doesn't cost much these days...just have them add another 16 GB. - Doug
  4. Welcome to the forum(s). Unfortunately, none of the FSX aircraft can be used. The MSFS 2020 structure is completely different. Whether or not it's worth the change is an individual choice - there is no one-fits-all answer.

    Matching GPU

You don't need data to know that the CPU is the primary limiting factor.
  6. You may want to try cleaning the disc. Usually a dirty disc will just result in read errors but sometimes it can also cause the drive to no longer continue to recognize the disc at all which will, in turn, cause the program (in this case FSX) to think it's been removed from the drive.....Doug
  7. I agree with all of the above. I don't think you'd ever notice a difference.
  8. Welcome to the forum(s). I agree with the P3D recommendation - that's really your best choice for what you want. Forget MSFS 2020 for now. But first you, REALLY need to delete this account and open another one NOT using your e-mail address. It's a really a bad idea to openly post e-mail addresses on a public forum like this. Doing so just invites all kinds of problems.
  9. If you're not willing to provide a better explanation that would help us with an answer why did you ask the question in the first place?
  10. "Give me the old style with the dark black paint." Me too! That's a real jewel Nels. It doesn't look like there has been anything added/changed/cleaned etc. And that's the way it should be. Just think of all the stories sent around the world with that key. Great stuff.......
  11. Nels opined above "I own a couple of Vibroplex bugs, including a 1906 model". Now it's my turn to say wow. Hang on to that one. They are very, very rare. Especially if it's all-original. And very pricey also (around USD$2000 depending on condition). I had a chance to tour the battleship Missouri a few years back and there in a glass case was a Vibroplex bug. It was the actual key used to transmit the news of the Japanese surrender in WWII. Just one of the many Vibroplex legends. 73...Doug
  12. It'll work fine. I'm also runninng a 10700K (OC'd to 5.0) with that CPU cooler and the temps under a full load are 68-70C.
  13. My son owns Vibroplex and, as one in the business, he'll tell you it's still going strong.
  14. O.K...O.K... Uncle...I give...My Bad. What I remembered was completely wrong. A few years back there were numerous discussions on several forums about WOAI being pirated. But I understand now that they meant that it was the work of WOAI that was being pirated, not the other way around. My apologies to all.
  15. Wow! Thanks for the memories from Kentucky Fried Chicken Three double-Five Nine. Anybody else remember when CB required call signs? That was mine and I confess that I, too, used a microphone in dem olden days. But that was back in 1960. I was still a teenager, and didn't know any better :-).
  16. Unless something has changed WOAI is a collection of pirated models. If that's still so you need to be aware of it. Use it if you must but doing so just encourages this kind of stuff.
  17. I'd rather they be aggressive rather than lax. Especially when dealing with websites that offer a "click here" option.
  18. From my anti-virus/malware monitor (ESET): "This web page is on a list of websites with uncertain reputation or potentially unwanted content and has been blocked." May not mean anything but I'm not one to try it to find out.
  19. Since I'm one of the old-school guys who believes that real Ham Radio is best done with stacked 6-element mono-banders on 100' towers, I'll have to pass. P.S. And the preferred mode is CW. As my son has always said "real men don't use microphones".
