Maybe we're getting somewhere. I had thought that any wind speed/direction layer goes up only as high as the next wind layer (if any). If not, how high up do the ground level settings extend?

Pressing R + or - works fine, but in the default you had to keep track of how many times you had pushed it, because the rate was not displayed. There's excellent freeware that fixes this: ambitiouspilots-shiftzstats, which gives you basic flight parameters, including sim rate, in small red letters at the very top of the screen (like the option in FSX, P3D). And you can toggle it on or off.

Assuming your conversion is correct, that does not seem to be my bug. I tried fiddling with various wind layers last night, and still find a disconnect between what I set in Flight Conditions and what I see in the sim. (A consistent exception is wind direction, which seems to follow my setting pretty much.). For instance, yesterday, I was set at 8 kts. and moved it up to 20. No difference in flight, and the displayed parameter was still at 8 kts. I'm surprised I only have 2 replies here (one totally unresponsive to the Q asked), since I started out by asking, "Am I alone . . . ." I would like to know if others experience the same disconnect between their settings and the winds experienced in the sim. If lots of people do, then it's a bug. If I am an outlier, then there is something terribly wrong with my set-up.

Am I alone in that I find the wind settings I put into Flight Conditions generally have little to do with the wind when I start flying. Sometimes, the result is an unflyable plane, because the wind is veering wildly at many times the frequency of gusts I've entered, and at very different values. Or, like today, I put in winds at 15 kts from the ground up, with 3 gusts/min. at about 17 knots. In the sim, though, I had surface winds of 8 kts., and a few hundred feet up, 27 kts.! Like I said, scant relationship between the settings and the flight. I find it hard to believe that others don't have this problem. Is there something I don't understand about applying the settings? Oh, and have I mentioned that THERE'S NO MANUAL??!!

Can anyone tell me what causes these weird lines in the scenery? This is with the Alaska Mesh DL from Marketplace, but it is not a new phenomenon. (Not the squiggle. The blue/white line.) Is there a fix?

So what's new? We've seen this particular artifact for over 18 months. Maybe it'll get fixed, maybe not. Everyone knows about it, including Asobo and Microsoft. I would not lose sleep over it. Enjoy the good stuff in MSFS!

OK, everyone, stand down and stand by! This evening, I went into the in-game Marketplace, and there among the weeds was -- wait for it -- WU VIII! Clicked on it. It said I owned it! Directed me to Content Manager. Clicked "Install," and after a time, it was "Up to Date." Went to LEBL, and found the Sagrada in all its (projected) splendor. I swear I did a 2-step install the other day, and also swear that my Content Manager didn't have WU VIII waiting to be installed when I began this thread. Someone said here that the updates are confusing. Well, if someone who knows there are 2 steps, downloads, goes to Content Mgr. and clicks on something, yet still has not installed the thing, it's more than merely "confusing." (BTW, that still doesn't explain the enhancements of Gibraltar I noticed AFTER I thought I installed WU VIII.)

As my OP said, the pic on the announcement about WU 8 on this website shows a central spire with cross, etc., so I guess you're right. But I think this thread establishes that I have indeed installed the update, yet don't have the to-be-completed Sagrada F. Go figure.

I knew about Step 2, and thought I completed it. Dan (post above) says I have the pre-update version of Sagrada Familia, but I visited Gibraltar (LXGB) after the update, and it looks greatly improved over last week. So it seems my update was completed. And yet . . . . One other fact: I just went to the Store. My account shows no MSFS updates available, but down low on the list, there's a listing for the Deluxe Premium Edition (which I own), and an option to "Install from Xbox App." Don't know what this means, but I want as little to do with Xbox as possible. BTW: Aren't these World Updates "mandatory"? If so, how can you run the sim without completing the 2-step process?

After installing WU 8 the other day, I flew around Barcelona. With photogrammetry enabled, everything looked great. But then I noticed that the Sagrada Familia seemed to lack detail. (Here's a screenshot, below). Then I compared it with the cover screenshot on the announcement in the news on this website ("MSFS 2020 World Update 8 Released," Mar 24, 2022). You will see that the screenshot on this site has a good deal more detail, conspicuously including the central spire with the cross on top, and the ornamentation on the tops of the others spires, plus the columns over the exposed rock face at the base of the basilica. My specs are below. I have just gone almost 3 months without a CTD, and recently MSFS has been behaving better than ever for me. I have my graphics set as recommended in the SoFly Manual, with FPS limited to 32 on my Nvidia control panel. For the most part, the detail I'm seeing seems to me exemplary. So what can I do to see the details on the Sagrada Familia? (And maybe I'm missing out on some other features, too.) I assume valero's purpose is to save time in opening the sim. But how much time would you save by eliminating all the discovery and training flights? It takes me about 8 minutes, with ample add-ons in Community.

Apparently I did have it, from when I updated my driver. Today I searched for it, clicked on the icon when it popped up and followed the prompts to install it. So: what is it?? How do I use the "seamless game recorder/photo taker"?

To clarify: Tim is right. The speed dial does work, Cavulife, but you have to set the outer dial to Manual. (The first time I fiddled, it was too dark to see the 2 little outer dial markers.) Then you can turn the inner dial to a selected speed and the plane will throttle up or down as needed. (As long as you have hit SHIFT+R to engage, that is.)

Thanks. That worked -- although I could never change the set speed. I'll fiddle some more. BTW, why wouldn't there be a button on the panel? I don't think then pilots IRL have the option you recommended.

I give up. I've fiddled every way I can think of. The AP panel has a speed function, but rotating the knob has no effect, nor does pushing the middle of it. Is it not possible to set a constant speed? It must be, or else the knob would have no use. Right? Thanks all.

OK. The DL gives you a zip file, with no .Txt or ReadMe in it. Where are you supposed to Extract to? Community?

The plane in the attached screenshot is the CJ4, but the bug appears in several other default planes. If you zoom in, the windows revert to normal. Can this be eliminated?

I see there's another forum here for MSFS Flight Videos. Okay, so how do you make one? In P3D there was an add-on that permitted you to save a flight, then play it back and even change viewpoints while it replayed. I don't see anything like that in MSFS, including the old instant replay feature in FSX (and maybe P3D).

I hesitate to provide advice in this forum, but I can tell you that I used to experience 90-100% GPU, too. Now, I'm usually at around 50%. No secret: Go to your Invidia control panel, select MSFS settings and reduce the max FPS to . . . well, I set mine at 32. Then, back in MSFS, Graphics, turn V-sync off. Few flickers, and almost no CTDs. There are those who will insist that 32 FPS is poor quality, but I read somewhere that the human eye can't register differences much above 20 fps. I'm not an ophthalmologist either, but I certainly can't tell the difference. I don't know, but I have this problem too. And after SU VII could not get the drone camera at all.

Why can't they tell us what to do about previously installed freeware and payware in the affected area? I always move my Community folder out of the sim before installing an update (as advised here), and then move it back in later. In this case, I moved all my Aussie mods into a separate folder and have not yet added them back into Community. What should I do with them? (I installed WU VII, then added my Community back (minus the Aussie stuff) and everything seems OK.)

Surely you know that spinning your mouse wheel enlarges or diminishes, right?
