Reading thru the MSFS forums, seems after almost every update, there are issues. Numerous updates, numerous issues.

I remember FSX SP 1 and 2 were all that was needed. Big difference.

Imagine getting MSFS running just the way you like, then, bam, another update, and it’s back to square one.

Just a quick post to warn any potential buyers not to buy the the Microsoft/Asobo flight simulator. It is a total disaster. Sim update 5 has broken it completely. I removed the sim from my system and tried a reinstall and guess what, it won't even reinstall. The only possible way forward is to reinstall windows 10 from scratch and try again but even that might not work. So please be careful people, this sim is a total waste of money.

 

So it is back to FSX and my beloved FS9 which I will continue to use indefinitely. Microsoft and Asobo, you are a waste of space.

I bought REX Essentials for this very reason. It’s not bad; very accurate. And the graphics are good.

But the free WX program mentioned above isn’t bad either.

SCAM ALERT!!!! tThe double and, and in the body a clue. Bad grammar would not be present in a light post and their needs are very vague the only post this person has made on the board is this skeptical request as well.

Sounded a bit like the “my cousin makes $100 an hour working from home” scams..

If it’s at all like FSX, you must be parked correctly. Too far back and they won’t work. Also, if you’re in a space that’s too small for your plane, it won’t work.

Beyond that, I can’t help as I don’t have MSFS.

Why are the FSX community being so negative toward MSFS, I find this very pathetic indeed.... we live in a world that is constantly moving forward for better or for worst...... get real FSXers and drag your heels in silence!... my sim is better than your sim sounds like a load of little kids.....

I agree. Whatever happened to “if you prefer _____ over ______, great!”

I’m at the point in my life where FSX still gives me enjoyment, as does my now “ancient” PC. I don’t have children and I quit the “buy the newest technology to keep up” phase long ago..

I'd probably spend more money on a PC capable of running MSFS at high settings without crashing, than I did on FSX in total, which still works on the old reliable Windows 7 OS.

I find no reason to take up MSFS and still run FSX albeit now the Steam edition. I think MS left it too long to allow a follow up to FSX. In my case I have accrued thousands (literally) of $$$ in addons which make FSX look wonderful. What can MSFS offer at this stage other than graphical improvements and from what I see they ain't all that anyway. Very limited selection of a/c and lets be honest about it, it is still a Beta program. I will prob get it later like I did with P3D v 1,3, & 4 and XP11 as I am a flight sim sucker. :rolleyes: Also DCS, IL2 Great Battles and IL2 1946. It's an obsession but I am getting better nurse.

Exactly. MSFS looks fantastic scenery wise, but lacks many other things.

Heck, I still race NASCAR Season 2003. With mods still out there it’s like a new game every year.

Same with FSX.

Which one FSX or MSFS 2020?

 

Next time, better know to everyone who put on the Screenshot Post as must comment topic FSX or MSFS 2020. :confused:;)

I can easily tell this is MSFS 2020…

It has to be related to the network frame error.

I will say, downloading and installing this for me was a two day affair. They made it so damn hard without having a computer science degree. And their manual was no help at all.

Their new website also sucks.

I’d say give Active Sky a try. I know it’s old (2016) but it seems reliable.

I recently purchased Sky Force after dumping REX Essentials for the same reason. (Live weather stopped working and the program is no longer supported)

So far mine’s working fine. Please let us know what you find out.

I couldn’t get it to work at all on my system. Clicking the icon to activate it did zero. It was like the icon wasn’t attached to anything; just nothing.

So I got a refund.
