  1. I am with you 100%! When I flew with FX I was mostly playing airline pilot, using AP was straightforward and convenient. With MSFS I have become a GA pilot - no more long or intercontinental flights because of the problems you describe. Hope ASOBO will wake up and hire the competent designers they need.

I haven’t done a long haul yet, took me some time just to figure out the Cessna Citation AP.

And since there’s no way to speed up the sim that I’ve found, I don’t have hours to spend at my computer. Lol

  2. How do you like it being a Las Vegas resident?

I was holding off until ORBX offered it (they are partnered with them on other airports) and also they still have not updated McCarran International to Harry Reid International.

Definitely an improvement over default. Especially at night.

Love it. And for only $15 bucks, it’s a steal!

(Side note— I wished they changed it to Las Vegas International Airport. I was never a fan of the new namesake. But I don’t want this to go political)

  3. I need help. I bought and downloaded this scenery, all indications are it installed correctly, yet my Vegas scenery is still the default. Googling didn’t help and their forums have yet to respond.

    What am I missing?

*EDIT*** Fixed. I'm using Steam so the path to the community folder by default was wrong. I had to do C:User/name/appdata etc but the ROAMING not the LOCAL folder.

  4. I bought a brand new gaming rig (specs in my sig) and decided, why not try this out through Microsoft Gamepass for a $1. I went in not expecting much except pretty scenery, and after coming into this forum a few times and talking sh*t, I must now apologize...

Game is a helluva upgrade from my previous FSX! It's only the standard edition but I have a taste and I know my rig can easily handle it. I've never flown an Airbus in any prior sim so the fact there's a checklist and I could also give control to the AI Pilot and sit back and watch the view, is something I never thought I needed until now.

No, I haven't tried a full flight with ILS just yet, as I'm still getting accustomed to the controls. This is definitely different than FSX for sure.

And for those asking why I didn't just get XP11 or P3D, I'm not much into the realism and difficulty of flying a real aircraft. I like (always have) jumping in and going, rather than going thru pages and pages of manuals just to start an engine (cough PMDG cough lol).

Simply put, I thought my FSX with Megascenery was "on par" with this, scenery wise; they're not even on the same golf course!

I only wish MSFS included at least the 737-800 though. I'll miss my addons I had in X, like the QW 757, GSX, etc., but "out of the box" MSFS is pretty great on its own.

That's all I wanted to say for now. Again, I talked crap based only on other user's opinions/complaints, not my own. And for that I am sorry.

Now, pass the ketchup for my crow!

    Peace out.

  5. I have no desire to fly for real. It was never about realism for me, just a side hobby and “something to do.”

Most I gain is watching movies; I can see the pilots doing things in cockpits I’m familiar with. In real life, I’m no longer a “white knuckle” airline passenger.

But still, photoreal scenery in FSX and I guess MSFS (I don’t have the latter) is pretty cool to fly over my house and such.

  6. I’ve had issues with this program before. Granted it was the beta at the time, but, when I clicked on the desktop icon, nothing happened. It was like, dead.

So I got a refund. But various forums I’ve read shows this program as a whole is riddled with issues. I’m staying away for now.

  7. Well, thank you for the kind ending of the discussion, and I see your points. I just wish you stated that in the beginning instead of your comment of buy a faster computer they said post.... That would have saved a LOT of problems.

But again, Good day to you, and Happy New Year as well, may it be better for EVERYONE, than the last two years.

That’s my forte; I’m a smartass at times. I thought it was funny but ok, point taken.

  8. I bought two different VFR scenery packages for FSX years ago. They were both impressive.. but of course only covered part of the UK (no USA, Europe or anywhere else) despite being on several DVDs. They were expensive too.

All obsolete now of course, because the scenery on the new sim is far, far better and covers the whole world. Just shows how things have moved on.

You could try the month’s game pass trial (for just $1) as suggested earlier, but if your signature is still correct, then you would have to upgrade to Windows 10.

    Probably not worth the hassle.

    Happy new year.

    Regards

    Steve

I have a new gaming rig on order: 32 gb Ram, all the bells and whistles including W10.

Once I get it and it’s up and running, that signature will change. I’ve been told it’ll be more than enough to run MSFS.

Maybe I’ll give the pass a look-see. I’ll definitely miss flying the 737 though. (I’m not ready to purchase an add on just yet)

  9. I'd like to remain hopeful that he would, but I have a feeling that he won't and just wanted to stir up trouble with that comment. Sometimes I may think of going back to P3D myself, but I just remember they don't have the real world in it, so that's what makes me stick with MSFS personally. Its awesome to now be able to actually fly over your own house in it,and see cities the way they are with the buildings that are actually there and not just generic box models for buildings.

I may but not anytime soon.

I’m still enjoying FSX. Years ago I bought photoreal scenery on a hard drive (the guy who made it now works for Megascenery Earth and this product is no longer available) and that enhanced my flying experience. Yes, I, too can buzz my house, albeit it’s all flat terrain, unlike MSFS.

I’ll end it with this: some screens and videos I’ve seen of MSFS make it look incredible. But then I read about numerous updates fudging up the works and I get timid. Last thing I want to do is spend my time resetting everything after an update, or worse, posting here about something that’s gone awry.

I bid good day to you, and happy new year.

  10. After touchdown, the auto brakes engage and apply the right amount of braking, but they don't disengage when I brake manually or apply thrust. Any suggestions? I am using the default 737-800.

Is this the default panel as well? Reason I ask, is because the more detailed Virtual Cockpit that was made by Rojas, has this issue.

  11. Thanks for the input kingnorris. I guess most simmers want to be pilots and not passengers which is a shame really because some of the newer freeware and payware scenery is quite exceptional and just adds to the flightsim experience when viewed from a first class seat!

Purists would argue it’s called “flight sim”, not “passenger sim”.

They’re right, to a point. I could board a real plane as a passenger, but I’m no airline pilot. But in the sim, I am one.

  12. That's a tough one. You'd have to find a plane with those views installed. Short of payware, I'm not sure one exists.

I recall one for the old FS 2004, it was a 777 with a full cabin interior, including reclining first class seats, but it wasn't compatible with FSX.

I currently have an old MD-80 (not the Maddog version, but the Just Flight one) that has a full cabin view. I can sit anywhere and even the seat belt sign turns on and off, but obviously that's not for long haul flights, lol.

  13. Ahh... ASSOBO.... You have no idea at all.. Try to fix 1 thing and stuff up 10 more. MSFS is nothing but eye candy. The flight models are pathetic. This mob could not hold a piss up in a brewery. I got absolutely fed up with the constant huge updates, things getting stuffed up, having to search on forums for fixes..Thank god I got a refund from this useless garbage. And I am not the only one saying the same thing. Good riddance... AND GOODBYE...
