azzaro
Description courtesy of Wikipedia: "On 14 July 1955, the company Nederlands Nieuw Guinea Luchtvaart Maatschappij (NNGLM) was established as a subsidiary of Dutch airline KLM, to provide air services within the Dutch territory of Netherlands New Guinea. This new airline, operating under the name of De Kroonduif, was based at Biak, and operated several routes throughout the territory with two de Havilland Canada Beavers. Later the fleet was also supplemented with Douglas DC-3 Dakotas and Twin Pioneers. As Dutch New Guinea was being incorporated into Indonesian territory on 1 January 1963, the operations of De Kroonduif were absorbed by Indonesian airline Garuda Indonesia, which shortly afterwards assigned them to Merpati Nusantara Airlines, a company that since 1978 was fully owned by Garuda." One for all my Dutch friends (yes, that one). A short flight from Frans Kaisiepo Airport (WABB) at Biak to Lake Rombebai with the Mamberamo River apparently running through it. Not an FSX error it actually looks like that. Happy travels. -- Bob [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] i7-7700 3.6GHz / GTX1660 6GB / 32GB RAM / 49" Samsung CHG90 / WIN10

mrzippy
Great looking shots and aircraft, Bob! At least the correct landing gear for water. Are you sure they were Dutch?? Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!

Are you sure they were Dutch??The aircraft was Canadian and the pilots were probably locals. The Dutch just sat back over beer and cheese and counted the profits. -- Bob [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] i7-7700 3.6GHz / GTX1660 6GB / 32GB RAM / 49" Samsung CHG90 / WIN10

Happy travels. -- Bob Impressive aircraft! I was inspired to look at Lake Rombebai on Google Earth. The lake is blue and the river is silty brown, it almost looks like it has been canalised where it passes the lake. Having Google Earth handy lets us delve deeper. I notice you're from the birthplace of John Cleese.
