Prostock
FSX-SE with ORBX scenery addons. So, flying out of CYYZ Canada to KSTL I notice this spiral looking thing in multiple spots in the sky. There were 3 or 4 of them in different spots. Anyone ever experience this? What is it? Thanks
DirkDP
Hi, Could it be this? https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?188417-Soaring-in-FSX See reply #2 and #5. Regards, DDP.
tiger1962
In your Settings - Weather - Thermal visualisation drop down menu, you've selected Schematic. Thermals will then show up as faint green spirals in the sky. Tim Wright "The older I get, the better I was..." Prostock
Hi, Could it be this? https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?188417-Soaring-in-FSX See reply #2 and #5. Regards, DDP. That has to be it. In all the years I've owned FSX (2006), I've never turned Thermals on & never seen them. So today, while doing a flight, someone mentioned that we should fly Gliders sometime and instructed how to turn thermals on & off. Well, I turned thermals on. We were flying in Alaska & I guess there are no thermals in Alaska so I didn't see them until I started a flight in CYYZ. I will now shut that option off. Thanks for the help guys. Appreciated it very much.
ianhr
Choose "Natural" visualization, and instead of spirals you'll see soaring birds. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Ray Hff
There's also a freeware add-on that will replace the birds with Cumulus clouds. The add-on is: thml_cld.zip Available here on flightsim.com.

I agree, this is the better choice! I learned a lot from watching clouds!! Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.
