pcohen
Hi Jorgen, thanks for reply. But still having a Problem. Have checked out the web page you advise but don't think it helps me. don.t wish to purchase Steam Edition because as previously mentioned I already have three Editions of FSX which I think are perfectly OK but I appear to be doing something wrong the Activation because the mskb928080 Cabinet File which resets the FSX Activation doesn't appear to be doing what it's meant to. FSX starts with the Activation warning but then allows you to run for 30 Minutes before requesting the Activation Code again. Many thanks Paul. Windows 10 2020. pcohen
Hi everybody. Here is the latest fiasco with setting up Microsoft Flight Simulator FSX. Found programme this morningcalled:MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta. Ran the programme and finally got rid of the Microsoft Flight Simulator FSX from the Add/Remove programmes in Control Panel which wouldn't go away. Also Deleted Microsoft Flight Simulator FSX folder from the Drive C: Folder. As previously said I have Three Versions of FSX one of these containing the Flight Simulator Acceleration Disk. But guess what? when trying to load any of the No.1 Disks it starts to load and after a while Comes up with the following Message:- 1629: Failed to complete installation. I cannot br certain, but this is a new Computer which Iv'e had for a couple of Weeks Now called a PC Specialist Tornado R5XT with an AMD Ryzon 5 GTX 1660 Graphics Card (wish I'd kept my Packard Bell) Don't know what to do next, this wasn't a problem on Previous Computer? pcohen
Hi everybody, back with some news (sort of) Fsx Now finally up and running but still with some Issues. but have not added the Acceleration Disk yet. During setting up of Flight Planner, Mouse cursor turns from White to Black and when eventually Taking Off cannot access the Menu Bar as it seems to stuck on the Ticked Position. As Previously mentioned this is a New Gaming Computer as opposed to the Standard Windows PC that I did have. Although it obviously has Windows 10 Installed I think there are Files that appear to be Missing? Control Panel, Programs and Features on my previous Computer had loads of Files related to running Windows 10 such as sound. graphics .Netfix, Microsoft visual C+ + 2005 And various others which I cannot think of? However, this Gaming Computer only has in Programs and Feature window: Microsoft Edge, Microsoft One Drive and Microsoft Flight Simulator X, which I have Installed earlier this Afternoon. Not having had a Gaming Computer before I may be wrong but it certainly looks suspect. When this Computer arrived it Only had the Computer Tower and a Power Lead, there was no Instruction booklet or CD/DVD Disk in case it was needed for backup. Have been in contact with PC Specialist, who say they are sending me a Disk. But have been waiting a Week already. Sorry this is so long and hope it makes some sense. Many thanks Regards Paul. HoratioWondersocks
Hello I have just checked out PC Specilist, I notice they actually make a range of PCs specifically for Flight Simulators. I assume this is the company you purchased your pc from and if this is the case then surely they can offer you some support ? after all you have forked out a large amount of money. There website looks very professional , although I realise that means nothing really. I am an fs9 user, but was drawn to your post because I really feel for your predicament having been involved in some FS stinkers myself in the past. I admire your tenacity in trying to resolve this problem and wish you good luck. Cheers Andy.
pcohen
Hi Andy, thanks for reply. Yes It is from PC Specialist, but guess what? FSX will still only run for 30 Minutes before asking for Activation again. and as said, this with a couple of Issues. Have Installed the Acceleration Disk but has made no difference. Regards Paul. jorgen.s.andersen
Paul, You could do worse than going on YouTube and searching for "britec09". He has a load of videos showing you, amongst other things, how to turn off unnecessary stuff in Windows 10, how to optimize same etc etc. And that is all free.... Things you do want to install: everything you can find on Microsoft regarding C++ and the .NET Framework (in one of the videos, Brian (britec09) also talks about that). After such installs, always run Windows Update. And as for Windows Update, make sure that under Advanced options, the switch "Receive updates for other Microsoft products" is set to On, and leave it that way. mallcott
https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?279451-How-to-clean-up-the-registry-after-uninstall Your going round in circles ! Try this THEN run sfc /scannow You have been told what you need to do, but to reiterate: 1: uninstall any unneded software (NOT FSX) 2: Run scan disk to optmise your hard drive/SSD 3: Then, and only then, run sfc /scannow 4: Do NOT at any stage be acceptant of any offer to uninstall FSX. You need the basic program AND the Acceleration Disk(s), and BOTH must be registered and they must BOTH be registered at the same time, on the same computer. Only run the recommendation on Page One before re-validating your installation. If any - ANY - of this is beyond you because of absence of computer skills, seek professional help. There are litterally HUNDREDS of home-visit computer specialists in the Wrexham area. Choose one who is experienced in setup of FSX...
pcohen
Hi mallcott, thanks for reply. In reply to your:- If any - ANY - of this is beyond you? I have had every Flight Simulator since it came out starting with FS98 through to FSX and have used FSX on my last Two Computers. Reason for so many changes is, I tend to alternate between MS Train Simulator and Microsoft Flight Simulator. Think the problem lies with this new Computer. Spoke with PC Specialist this morning and they are sending me a Back Up Dongle because they think there's a problem with the Computer as well. Many thanks Paul Edited November 16, 2020 by pcohen Windows 10 2020. Processor: AMD Ryzon 5 3600 6-Core Processor 3.59 GHz. Installed memory (RAM): 16.0 GB. jorgen.s.andersen
Paul, allow me a quote: "Reason for so many changes is, I tend to alternate between MS Train Simulator and Microsoft Flight Simulator." What changes are you talking about? I have had FSX and MSTS on this same computer, until early this year, when I decided to give up MSTS. I have never had to change configuration or anything else, the two could happily co-exist. Jorgen
pcohen
Hi Jorgen, thanks for reply. I also, have had FSX and MSTS on the same computer for some Years. Including, for a while on my Laptop, SHAME I could have copied It to Computer? Was just pointing out, that I am not new to MSFS or MSTS. Problem has only started with this new Gaming Computer.
