andyjohnston
As the new Flight Simulator is about to be released next month, I'm making the rounds to my sceneries one last time. Some of the older ones didn't make the transition from FSX to P3D, and some were released while some never were. All but one are fictional. Starting at KHEP, which I originally created in the FS-2004 days, then recreated it for FSX. KHEP's companion KHE2, never released. A home for the Canadian Space Agency, scenery was never finished. The only non-fictional scenery. Back in the days of FS-2000 I started building scenery for the city of Ottawa, where I live. It went through a number of versions over 20 years. Spent way too much time using these sims... FS 5.1, FS-98, FS-2000, FS-2002, FS-2004, FSX, Flight, FSW, P3Dv3, P3Dv4, MSFS
Rupert
Nice shots Andy. As to the new "sim," I'll cool on it until I read a lot of comments. Also I'm wondering if there is any backwards capability. I'm read some, also none. Michael Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.
DAVIDSTRAKA
Pretty awesome Andy. Yes, I think a lot of us are going to hold the horse on the new sim until we see the feedback. Should be interesting :) Senior Rookie Bragware: FSX Gold - Acceleration | HP Omen Obelisk Desktop | Intel Core i7 3.2 Ghz |16GB | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 | 1TB HD | 256 GB SSD (Gaming Computer) REX Worldwide Airports HD AS16 + ASCA ORBX Global BASE ORBX Freeware Airports ORBX HD Trees [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
andyjohnston
KINV, home of the InvisiJet line of aircraft. KMGA, a huge airport featuring perpendicular 25,000' runways. Unreleased. KICI, a scenery area that started back in the days of FS-98 as a way to test different scenery ideas and objects. Once it became obsolete in that form, it was rebuilt from scratch, and eventually upgraded to FSX. Was available only at my old website. Spent way too much time using these sims... andyjohnston
At Aviation City (KAVA,) taxiways snake between the buildings and parking areas. I've added AI traffic to fields with varying levels of success. KAVA was one of the best, with all sorts of aircraft coming and going and making their way around the city. Time to move onwards. andyjohnston
Glacier Peak, only some 60 miles from Seattle, is another one with a great approach. The runway elevation is 10,000 feet. You have to hit it just right. Too low and you'll crash into the mountain, too high and you wont have time to stop! Spent way too much time using these sims... andyjohnston
Another old favourite, Mountain Top, built right on the Canada-US border (even had customs crossings in the scenery.) Started in the FS-2004 days when the multi-player adventure group used to spend lots of time in Alaska. It looked better in FS-2004, but was still fun to fly in to. andyjohnston
Flight Simulator Island is a concept I have reused since the original in FS-2002. But they didn't cone out looking as good as that first one did, Flight Sim Island in FS-2002: Spent way too much time using these sims... andyjohnston
Sable Island came out so good that I'm a little disappointed it was in the middle of nowhere, so I didn't get to fly into it very often. andyjohnston
Part of my HE series which all went together, HE Supply was on a little island 35 miles south of the main airport of KHEP (already shown.) Older versions showed a busier filed, then I redid it to show a stripped down location that wasn't used very much. Spent way too much time using these sims... andyjohnston
The fourth and final of my HE series was HE North, right on the Ontario side of the St Laurence River. Just a short flight from my home area, it ended up being a perfect place I could fly to and back if I was around there and didn't have too much time to dedicate to making a flight. I never did end up releasing it. Spent way too much time using these sims... adamb
Lots of memories from a long time ago it seems, well done Andy! :) Pre-ordered the new sim and bought a new Samsung 2TB SSD just for it. Still going to run P3Dv5HF2 on another SSD. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Still going to run P3Dv5HF2 on another SSD. Please give lots of opinions on the new product! I have the space for it. But I've got so much ORBX it'd have to be a real improvement for me to get too excited. Being an old chopper guy I usually fly low and slow.
