aharon
Shalom and greetings all my pals, Exciting river approach toward runway 06 of PAVD Valdez Airport three nautical miles east of the business district of Valdez, Alaska can be pure beautiful and fun as you get to fly 3,000 ft above river THROUGH between mountains on way to runway 06!! Descending to 3,000 above waters of Valdez Narrows river Navigating above river through between mountains can be beautiful and EXCITING On final runway approach above waters of Port Valdez toward runway 06 DARN THE STRONG ALASKAN WINDS making me land right wheel first before left wheel Left wheel gliding down to make runway contact Front wheels on ground to complete the touchdown!! Exiting from runway toward gate Arriving at passenger apron To understand and see how DC-7 land on right wheel first before left wheel like I did in that flight, look at the other DC-7's landing: Thank you for viewing. Downwind66
Very nice pics and aircraft. For me, not ever having been to Alaska, this was very interesting! Looks plenty cold though! Thanks for sharing! - Rick

DAVIDSTRAKA
Another great flight. You do quite well with the landings. When I was looking at your DC-7 I was thinking about an episode of Ice Pilots on the Weather Channel. Buffalo Airways flies a DC-6 for cargo. That one particular episode the right gear got partially stuck in the wheel well. They couldn't get it all the way up or down. They flew back from an ice strip to Yellow Knife. The senior pilot (who was to retire in a couple months) took the controls and tried everything to get that gear to come down. Nothing worked. Long story short, they landed with just the nose and left gear down. So your adventure kind of reminded me of that. jfwright
It's easy to be "blinded by the light" (your beacons) in some of your shots but they are all beautiful. Nice landing. Jim I am a King Air fan. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
