peer01 Posted June 24, 2017 Share Posted June 24, 2017 The Lancastrian's first flight was in 1943, it was developed from the Lancaster bomber, without armament and a new nose section. It was designed to carry mail and some VIP's. A bit improvised, the narrow fuselage was only designed for a crew of 7. After the war there was a sudden need for passenger planes, so Avro build new Lancastrians for BOAC. Here's a virtual flight from Cairo to Yemen, over the Gulf of Suez, the Red Sea and over a LOT of desert sand. Pics from my old compu!
