gypsymoth
I'm using Hanno Fring's great panel in Mike Stone's atr 72-500 & I have a question about the autopilot......the buttons turn on as expected except the IAS (speed hold) button. I expected it to work & wonder why it doesn't? I can't see how to engage it....can anyone tell me? The aircraft cfg file has this: [autopilot] autopilot_available=1 flight_director_available=1 default_vertical_speed=1000.0 autothrottle_available=1 pitch_takeoff_ga=8.000000 autothrottle_arming_required=1 Thanks. mrzippy
Your .cfg shows that Auto Throttle needs arming and possibly legging and a pair of shoes;) Change this: autothrottle_arming_required=1 to this: autothrottle_arming_required=0 Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! gypsymoth
Hello.....I tried that but the IAS button still doesn't respond
mrzippy
Do you have anything like what I show under [autopilot] [autopilot] autopilot_available=1 flight_director_available=1 default_vertical_speed=1200 autothrottle_available=1 autothrottle_arming_required=0 autothrottle_takeoff_ga=1 autothrottle_max_rpm=96.8 Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer! mrzippy
Don't know this specific plane but IRL there is NO turboprop which has autothrottles. IAS HOLD means only that the plane keeps the IAS and the v/s changes when altering the throttle setting. I actually have 2 turboprops that use autothrottle/autothrustlever. P-3C Orion and a Lockheed Electra. Still thinking about a new flightsim only computer!
tiger1962
bbrz is correct, there are a few turboprops in FS with working autothrottles - Castaner's ATR72 (well worth a look, Gypsymoth!) and Molina's Dash 8-400 panel for example - I've had a lot of fun with both of these btw, give them a try! But in reality the nearest thing turboprops have to an autothrottle is IAS Hold, which is only used during the climb phase. The rest is done by skilful use of the torque and fuel flow gauges and once you've mastered that, you don't need no stinking autothrottle! :D Tim Wright "The older I get, the better I was..." gypsymoth
Thank folks....I saw this 'autothrottle_takeoff_ga=0' so changed it to '=1' and now the IAS button lights up. Thanks too for the technical info. I stared this topic to find out about the non-fuctioning button & have learned more that I thought I might !! I'll check Molina's Dash 8-400 panel out so thanks for that. Cheers & thanks again.

gypsymoth
Hello, I use Mike Stone's Atr72 500 with Hanno Frings panel & the IAS hold doesn't work in that. The IAS button lights up but doesn't work. I have edited the autopilot as described here too. I think the problem is not so much with the aircraft cfg but with the .air file, and that Mike Stone didn't include IAS hold when he built the file. Unfortunately I'm told the atr72.air file can't be edited retrospectively for IAS hold to be added. I use Mike Stone's aircraft a lot because they are so good to fly. The Atr is very good at repsonding to throttle adjustments to keep to any desired speed I want. I must say I think Mike Stone's aircraft are wonderful & brilliant............. I hope this helps.......
ColR1948
What happens if you use another air file, remembering to change it in the aircraft.cfg of course? Col.
gypsymoth
I don't think that works..........have you tried ?
piet06273
Just a thought, I'm not sure if all early ATR's had autothrottle hold...... Edited April 13, 2020 by piet06273 wrong question I5 12600K - RTX3060TI - 32GB 3600 - M2 - WIN11 - FS8/9/X - MSFS - full ORBX UTX etc.
mallcott
Just a thought, I'm not sure if all early ATR's had autothrottle hold...... They didn't. Why would you replicate something that never existed? IAS hold simply holds the selected speed and either dives, or climbs...
